Enhanced anaerobic digestion of waste activated sludge of low organic content in a novel digester

A novel digester, termed an internal circulation anaerobic digester (ICAD), was developed to intensify sludge digestion. It consists of reaction zone, settling zone, thickening zone, riser and downcomer. Internal circulation in the digester is intensified by backflow biogas. The mesophilic ICAD treating thermal pretreated waste activated sludge with volatile suspended solids (VSS)/suspended solids (SS) of 0.45-0.49 was conducted in this study to reduce and stabilize the low organic content sludge. The results showed that the VSS removal rate and biogas rate reached 46.0% and 0.72 m3/kg VSSfed at hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 15 days. VSS/SS and soluble chemical oxygen demand (SCOD) of the effluent sludge ranged from 0.39 to 0.41 and 274 mg/L to 473 mg/L, respectively, under various HRTs from 10 to 27 days. The degradation ability of ICAD derived from the improved mass transfer by internal circulation and long solid retention time at short HRT is compared with continuous stirred tank reactor. © 2015 IWA Publishing.

In this paper the issues how to enhance the rupture strength of recycled coarse ceramic aggregate concrete were discussed.24 specimens of 40 mm × 40 mm × 160 mm casted with soaked coarse ceramic aggregates and cement motar were used to examine experimentally the effect of silane coupling agent solution concentration and immersion time on the rupture strength of interfacial transition zone(ITZ) between recycled coarse ceramic aggregate and cement *** experiment results showed that the bonding performance for the ITZ in the recycled coarse ceramic aggregate concrete could be greatly improved by immersing the coarse ceramic aggregates in some diluted adhesion agent and was confirmed by the stereomicroscope analysis;the rupture strength increased with increasing the immersion time,and first increased but then decreased with the increase of silane coupling agent solution concentration;the compressive strength after 28-day curing increased by 38.4% by using 15% replacement of coarse rubble aggregates by the present soaked coarse ceramic aggregates;even for 100% replacement of coarse rubble aggregates by the present ceramic aggregates,the compressive strength of the recycled ceramic aggregate concrete is still higher man that of natural rubble aggregate concrete;when the replacement of coarse aggregates reaches 60%,elasticity modulus of the present recycled concrete is still improved by 3.2% compared to that of natural rubble aggregate *** Very few studies on the improvement of bonding performances of the ITZ of recycled coarse ceramic concrete were carried *** paper deals with discussions on how to enhance the bonding properties of recycled coarse ceramic *** experiment results showed that the bonding performance for the ITZ in the recycled coarse ceramic aggregate concrete could be greatly improved by immersing coarse ceramic aggregates in some diluted adhesion agent such as silane coupling *** micro-mechanism of the IZT was

According to the model devised by the design team of PACE Future Bus and the layout size of pure electric coaches in the market, we used CATIA to make a 3D model and made Topology optimization design by using HyperWorks. After that, we imposed loading according to specific conditions and made structural topology optimization and sized optimization design. Then we checked the coach skeleton beam element model and the strength of shell element model. Finally, the future bus frame was built completely. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

The intelligent fuzzy control method in thermostatic process of the sand casting and gas forming tester was introduced in this paper. The delayed time of thermostatic control system of the tester was compensated by Smith predictor. Based on the solid - liquid two-coupling theory, Use abrasive medium viscosity-temperature characteristics related to the mathematical model, using solid - liquid two-phase solution method Mixture models and standards k -e, turbulence model combining with common rail pipe hole as the research object, choose different initial temperatures and processing procedures, numerical analysis was carried out on the flow channel wall temperature and turbulent kinetic energy. With the actual flight of the airplane model pictured by two theodolites, in this paper, a cross matching method of flight trajectory was proposed on the basis of horizontal projection, which was also checked and simulated in the research. The simulation proved that: within a certain measuring range, this cross matching method can effectively enable the matching calculations to flight trajectories of large numbers of equidirectional airplane models, thus to meet the measuring needs of the airplane model in flight. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

The temperature control model of an intelligent sand casting and gas forming tester is introduced in this paper. The thermostatic fuzzy control of the tester is simulated by the fuzzy control kit in Matlab. This paper represents the elements and the use of the upgraded simulation system, developed in the last half decade for Štore Steel billet caster. The simulation system is used in the context of the state-of-the-art automation and information of the twenty-five year-old three-strand Concast billet continuous caster for dimensions square 140 and 180 mm with the capacity of 160,000 tons/year. The simulation system is used in the off-line and on-line modes. The off-line mode is used in order to set the proper process parameters and to calculate the temperature field, macrosegregation, and grain structure of the strand. It is also used to calculate the changes in the caster design such as the secondary cooling and the position of the SEN. The on-line model is used in automatic casting control system. The paper represents an update of our BHM publication of 2005 (Application of Continous Casting simulation at Štore Steel, BHM, Vol. 150, No. 9, 300–306). © 2013, Springer-Verlag Wien.
