Catalytic activity of V_(2)CO_(2) MXene supported transition metal single atoms for oxygen reduction and hydrogen oxidation reactions:A density functional theory calculation study

Two-dimensional(2D)MXene and single-atom(SA)catalysts are two frontier research fields in catalysis.2D materials with unique geometric and electronic structures can modulate the catalytic performance of supported SAs,which,in turn,affect the intrinsic activity of 2D *** functional theory calculations were used to systematically explore the potential of O-terminated V2C MXene(V_(2)CO_(2))-supported transition metal(TM)SAs,including a series of 3d,4d,and 5d metals,as oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and hydrogen oxidation reaction(HOR)*** combination of TM SAs and V_(2)CO_(2)changes their electronic structure and enriches the active sites,and consequently regulates the intermediate adsorption energy and catalytic activity for ORR and *** the investigated TM-V_(2)CO_(2)models,Sc-,Mn-,Rh-,and PtMCCh showed high ORR activity,while Sc-,Ti-,V-,Cr-,and Mn-V_(2)CO_(2)exhibited high HOR ***,Mn-and Sc-V_(2)CO_(2)are expected to serve as highly efficient and cost-effective bifunctional catalysts for fuel cells because of their high catalytic activity and *** work provides theoretical guidance for the rational design of efficient ORR and HOR bifunctional catalysts.

The inevitable insulation defects in dry transformers lead to the decomposition of epoxy resin into CO, HCHO, and C₂H₃Cl. To assess the operational status of such electrical equipment, this study proposes a Nb-embedded Janus WSSe (Nb-WSSe) monolayer on basis of first-principles theory as an outstanding material for typical gas detection. It is found that Nb-WSSe monolayer shows chemisorption towards three gas molecules, with largely tuned electronic property. The charge density difference, band structure, density of states and work function of the gas adsorbed systems are well-analyzed, and the sensing mechanism of Nb-WSSe monolayer for exploration of the resistive and Schottky gas sensors are uncovered. The findings manifest the favorable sensitivity and selectively of Nb-WSSe monolayer for detection of three gas *** findings presented in this study hold significant value, as they possess the potential to catalyze Janus TMDCs-based novel gas sensing candidates for use within the realm of electrical engineering. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Learning-Based Switched Reliable Control of Cyber-Physical systems With Intermittent Communication Faults

This study deals with reliable control problems in data-driven cyber-physical systems(CPSs) with intermittent communication faults, where the faults may be caused by bad or broken communication devices and/or cyber attackers. To solve them, a watermark-based anomaly detector is proposed, where the faults are divided to be either detectable or ***, the fault's intermittent characteristic is described by the average dwell-time(ADT)-like concept, and then the reliable control issues, under the undetectable faults to the detector, are converted into stabilization issues of switched systems. Furthermore,based on the identifier-critic-structure learning algorithm, a datadriven switched controller with a prescribed-performance-based switching law is proposed, and by the ADT approach, a tolerated fault set is given. Additionally, it is shown that the presented switching laws can improve the system performance degradation in asynchronous intervals, where the degradation is caused by the fault-maker-triggered switching rule, which is unknown for CPS operators. Finally, an illustrative example validates the proposed method.

Experimental Study on Dynamic Behavior and Removal Characteristics of Condensate Droplets Under Ultrasonic Vibration

Preventing frost formation has been a very challenging issue in fields like refrigeration and aviation. As a prominent de-frosting strategy, ultrasonic vibration has been demonstrated effective but always being used for already formed frost removal. In this study, we investigated the behavior of ultrasonic atomization of condensation droplets on a circular surface. The experiment examined the effects of condensation time, ultrasonic power and duration on droplet atomization morphology. The results indicated the presence of three distinct regions: the atomization zone, the non-atomization zone, and the transition zone. The atomization zone exhibited two modes of atomization, reticulated and membranous, depending on condensation time. Ultrasonic vibration effectively atomizes and removes condensate droplets in the atomization zone under different condensation times. Prolonging ultrasonic time from 1 to 5 seconds can maintaining residual droplets a coverage rate of 1-1.5% in the atomization zone. Increasing ultrasonic power reduced the critical removal diameter resulting in a decrement in residual droplet coverage. In the transition zone, the droplets migrated unidirectionally and swept other droplets on its trajectory. The average diameter of migrating droplets declined with increasing ultrasonic time. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Data-Driven Distributionally Robust Mixed-Integer Control through Lifted Control Policy

This paper investigates the finite-horizon distributionally robust mixed-integer control (DRMIC) of uncertain linear systems. However, deriving an optimal causal feedback control policy to this DRMIC problem is computationally formidable for most ambiguity sets. To address the computational challenge, we propose a novel distributionally robust lifted control policy (DR-LCP) method to derive a high-quality approximate solution to this DRMIC problem for a rich class of Wasserstein metric-based ambiguity sets, including the Wasserstein ambiguity set and its variants. In theory, we analyze the asymptotic performance and establish a tight non-asymptotic bound of the proposed method. In numerical experiments, the proposed DR-LCP method empirically demonstrates superior performance compared with existing methods in the literature. ©1963-2012 IEEE.

For a single machine infinite power system with thyristor controlled series compensation(TCSC) device, which is affected by system model uncertainties, nonlinear time-delays and external unknown disturbances, we present a robust adaptive backstepping control scheme based on the radial basis function neural network(RBFNN). The RBFNN is introduced to approximate the complex nonlinear function involving uncertainties and external unknown disturbances, and meanwhile a new robust term is constructed to further estimate the system residual error,which removes the requirement of knowing the upper bound of the disturbances and uncertainty terms. The stability analysis of the power system is presented based on the Lyapunov function,which can guarantee the uniform ultimate boundedness(UUB) of all parameters and states of the whole closed-loop system. A comparison is made between the RBFNN-based robust adaptive control and the general backstepping control in the simulation part to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Six kinds of waste liquids produced in the treatment process of leachate in a waste incineration plant were used to improve the adsorption effect of raw kaolin on heavy metal chloride. According to our previous study, the molar ratios of sodium ions with better modification effect to heavy metal chloride were selected as 1:2, 1:4 and 1: 8, eighteen kinds of leachates were prepared to modify raw kaolin. The capture performances of these modified kaolin on PbCl2 and CdCl2 vapor were investigated in a two-stage fixed bed combustor. The results indicated that the adsorption effects of raw kaolin on lead chloride and chromium chloride were improved in some experimental groups, but the influences did not change regularly with the increase in the concentration of sodium ions introduced into kaolin. The adsorbents formed by modifying 10 g kaolin with 21.25 ml leachate 2 (group 6) were the best adsorbents for two kinds of heavy metal chlorides. The capture efficiencies of PbCl2 and CdCl2 can reach 95% and 63.88%, with the increase by 36% and 53%, respectively. The sodium ions in the leachate properly promote the melting of the kaolin layer, and the active sites on inner layers are exposed to adsorb more heavy metals. Therefore, the modified kaolin with this leachate can obtain the adsorbent with good capture effect for both PbCl2 and CdCl2. Adsorptions of PbCl2 and CdCl2 were still mainly chemical adsorptions. After adsorption of PbCl2, the modified kaolin not only generates PbA12Si2O8, but also produces other chemical compounds with PbCl2. The adsorption of CdCl2 by modified kaolin does not generate CdAl2Si2O8, but other chemical reactions occurred to generate CdAl2O4 and Pb8Cd (Si2O7)3. The leachate, which was local material that can be obtained in the MSW incineration plant and turned from waste into treasure, can be effectively utilized to modify kaolin. A MILP Model and Two-Stage Heuristic Algorithm for Vehicle-Assisted Multi-Drone Inspection Routing Problem

This paper introduces a vehicle-assisted multi-drone inspection routing problem (VAMDIRP), which enables the vehicle to repeatedly traverse roads, thereby reducing task completion time. Firstly, a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model is constructed for the problem using a series of decision variables and auxiliary variables. The model can be solved by GUROBI for small-scale instances. Secondly, a two-stage heuristic algorithm is proposed to solve large-scale instances. Experimental results show that this algorithm improves the solution quality by an average of 20.71% and reduces the running time by an average of 60.31% compared to existing algorithms. Finally, a sensitivity analysis is conducted on relevant parameters, revealing that changes in the number and speed of drones significantly affect the solution quality. © 2025 The Author(s). Numerical optimization and performance study of a photovoltaic/thermal module based on multi-stage V-type turbulators

The utilization of solar energy is one of the important ways to ensure low-carbon energy transformation, and PV/T technology, as an efficient technology for utilizing solar energy, has received widespread attention in recent years. This paper proposes a photovoltaic/thermal (PV/T) module based on a multi-stage V-type turbulator, and explores the optimization design of the system through numerical simulation and experimental research. To improve thermal and electrical efficiency, the paper integrates a turbulence-enhancing V-type turbulator design and utilizes a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model for detailed system analysis. Experimental results show that the optimized PV/T system achieves a 9 %–12 % increase in electrical efficiency compared to conventional PV systems under standard solar irradiance conditions, with overall system efficiency exceeding 65 %. Through optimization using the Response Surface Methodology (RSM), the optimal turbulator design parameters were determined to be an angle α of 60°, an inclination angle β of 61.1°and a distance D of 0 mm. This article also compared three conventional channels to verify the heat transfer performance of the multi-stage V-shaped vortex generator PV/T. © 2025
