Replace coal with solar energy to low-cost heating in severe cold regions can improve indoor air quality, but indoor thermal comfort is not fully guaranteed. Therefore, a dual-source heat pump (DSHP) assisted solar evacuated tube water heater heating system was used in a house with sunspace to meet the heating stable and cleaning. TRNSYS model verified by experiment was used to research performance and economy of system. Results found the higher ambient temperature and solar radiation, the more heat from sunspace, solar assisted heat pump (SAHP) and solar water, conversely, the longer heating time of air-source heat pump (ASHP). During heating season, solar fraction of heating was 51.6%, solar heat collection efficiency was 46.0%, EER was 3.58, COP were 3.05 (ASHP) and 3.82 (SAHP). Heating time proportion of ASHP, SAHP and solar water heating were 39.1%, 43.4%, 17.5%, ASHP heating was accounting for 21% and 49% in November and January. The system, sunspace supplied 17811.2, 2307.6 kW·h of heat for room, solar effective heat collection was 10107.0 kW·h, power consumption was 5164.7 kW·h, CO2 emission reduction was 15389.6 kg. The dynamic payback period of system was 6.25 years, as will be shortened with the support of clean energy heating policy. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Annual Optimal Performance Analysis of Micro Heat Hipe Pv/T Inside and Outside Greenhouse in Northwest China

The utilize of photovoltaic/thermal (PV/T) systems, which enable the simultaneous conversion of solar radiation into electrical and thermal energies, holds significant promise in the solar-rich northwestern region of China. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of a micro heat pipe (MHP) PV/T system through comprehensive experimental analysis carried out inside the greenhouse and outside the greenhouse in Lanzhou. In order to improve the performance of MHP-PV/T system, a comparison was made between the optimal inclination angles for each day and the entire year. The total efficiency of MHP-PV/T system inside the greenhouse on sunny, alternating sunny and cloudy and cloudy days were 53.6%, 52.1%, and 43%, respectively, which were 16%, 21.4%, 14.8% higher than outside the greenhouse. In order to further investigate the annual performance of the system, a mathematical model was established to demonstrate good consistency between simulation results and empirical observations. This paper collects weather data for the past 5 years in Lanzhou. The average solar irradiance at the daily optimum inclination angle outside the greenhouse was 585.6 W/m2, whereas the annual optimum inclination angle was determined to be 29°, with a mean solar irradiance of 565.6 W/m2. The total efficiencies were 64.43% and 62.6% at the daily and annual optimal inclination angles within the greenhouse, respectively. These findings represented a notable enhancement of 15.87% and 15.74% in the total efficiencies over the external environments. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The commercialization of Li-S batteries has been seriously hampered by the infamous "shuttle effect" of soluble lithium polysulfide intermediates (LiPSs, Li2Sx, 4 ≤ x ≤ 8) and sluggish sulfur species conversion kinetics. In this work, vinyl ferrocene and styrene were copolymerized onto a polypropylene (PP) separator to prevent LiPS shuttling based on the electrostatic and orbital interactions between ferrocene and LiPSs, which increased the reactivity of LiPSs. Therefore, the "shuttle effect" can be successfully suppressed by a separator that combines thermodynamic anchoring and kinetic acceleration for LiPSs. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Optical sorting is a key technology for the circular economy and is widely applied in the food, mineral, and recycling industries. Despite its widespread use, one typically resorts to expensive means of adjusting the accuracy, e.g., by reducing the mass flow or changing mechanical or software parameters, which typically requires manual tuning in a lengthy, iterative process. To circumvent these drawbacks, we propose a new layout for optical sorters along with a controller that allows re-feeding of controlled fractions of the sorted mass flows. To this end, we build a dynamic model of the sorter, analyze its static behavior, and show how material recirculation affects the sorting accuracy. Furthermore, we build a model predictive controller (MPC) employing the model and evaluate the closed-loop sorting system using a coupled discrete element–computational fluid dynamics (DEM–CFD) simulation, demonstrating improved accuracy.

Experimental Study and Performance Enhancement of a Novel Micro Heat Pipe Pv/T system With Doule-Layer Glass and Nanofluid

The photovoltaic/thermal (PV/T) system, which harnesses solar energy to produce both electricity and thermal energy, holds substantial potential in China's northwest region, an area with abundant solar irradiation. To demonstrate the performance of micro heat pipe (MHP) PV/T，this paper conducted typical day experiments on MHP-PV/T system in four seasons in Lanzhou, which included environmental temperature, surface temperature of the PV/T panel, back temperature of the PV/T panel, water tank temperature, thermal collection efficiency (PCE) and power conversion efficiency (TCE). The PCE was the lowest with 12.23% in summer, and the TCE was the highest with 39.45%. Due to the environmental temperature in winter being much lower than in summer, the performance of the system was opposite in winter compared to summer, with the PCE being the highest, at 12.64%, and the TCE being the lowest, at 21.27%. A three-dimensional mathematical model of PV/T panel was developed and validated with experimental results. The simulation results aligned well with the experiment data. It was observed that the double-layer glass lowered the solar transmittance while simultaneously reducing the convective heat transfer between the PV/T panel and its surrounding environment, leading to an increasing temperature of the solar cell, subsequently causing a decline in the PCE and a rise in the TCE of the MHP-PV/T. Additionally, the nanofluid within the airfoil heat exchanger lessened the thermal resistance between the fluid and the airfoil heat exchanger, resulting in an elevated temperature of the nanofluid and enhanced performance of the MHP-PV/T. These experimental studies and numerical simulations will serve as a scientific foundation and provide engineering guidance for the MHP-PV/T, ultimately facilitating efficient utilization of solar energy in future applications. © 2023, The Authors. This paper investigates the finite-horizon distributionally robust mixed-integer control (DRMIC) of uncertain linear systems. However, deriving an optimal causal feedback control policy to this DRMIC problem is computationally formidable for most ambiguity sets. To address the computational challenge, we propose a novel distributionally robust lifted control policy (DR-LCP) method to derive a high-quality approximate solution to this DRMIC problem for a rich class of Wasserstein metric-based ambiguity sets, including the Wasserstein ambiguity set and its variants. In theory, we analyze the asymptotic performance and establish a tight non-asymptotic bound of the proposed method. In numerical experiments, the proposed DR-LCP method empirically demonstrates superior performance compared with existing methods in the literature. © 2025, CC BY.

A data-driven open decision framework based on adaptive evidential reasoning rule

Data accumulation is beneficial to efficiently make decisions on new cases. However, it is rare to use the historical data of experienced decision makers to help inexperienced decision makers generate solutions to new cases in an open and adaptive way. To address this issue, a data-driven open decision framework is developed based on an adaptive evidential reasoning (ER) rule. Giving two assumptions, criterion weights are learned from historical individual and overall assessments while criterion reliabilities are learned from historical individual assessments and gold standards. The adaptive ER rule is developed based on two abstract functions with the variables of criterion weight and criterion reliability, respectively, whose properties are analyzed. With these foundations, the general situation of the open decision framework is demonstrated from the learning, aggregation, and prediction hierarchies. Three special situations of the framework are presented to make it flexible. The historical data of more experienced decision makers are allowed in the framework to ensure its openness. The applicability of the general situation of the open decision framework is examined by its use in helping diagnose breast lesions. Its performance is highlighted by the comparison with the three special situations of the framework, five representative machine learning algorithms, and the framework with four forms of two abstract functions. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

This paper investigates the secure synchronization control problem for a class of cyber-physical systems(CPSs)with unknown system matrices and intermittent denial-of-service(DoS)*** the attack free case,an optimal control law consisting of a feedback control and a compensated feedforward control is proposed to achieve the synchronization,and the feedback control gain matrix is learned by iteratively solving an algebraic Riccati equation(ARE).For considering the attack cases,it is difficult to perform the stability analysis of the synchronization errors by using the existing Lyapunov function method due to the presence of unknown system *** order to overcome this difficulty,a matrix polynomial replacement method is given and it is shown that,the proposed optimal control law can still guarantee the asymptotical convergence of synchronization errors if two inequality conditions related with the DoS attacks ***,two examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches.

With the proliferation of IoT devices, there is an escalating demand for enhanced computing and communication capabilities. Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) addresses this need by relocating computing resources to the network edge, thereby delivering swifter and more efficient services. This paper introduces a computation offloading and energy consumption optimization framework that leverages Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and MEC. The scheme aims to maximize energy efficiency through the optimization of task allocation, RIS phase shifts, and UAV trajectories. By employing the Multi-Agent Twin Delayed Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (MATD3) reinforcement learning algorithm, the paper further refines UAV trajectories and RIS configurations. The simulation results indicate that the proposed method surpasses the traditional Concave-Convex Procedure (CCCP) algorithm in both UAV trajectory control and RIS configuration, demonstrating quicker convergence and enhanced stability. The method proves to be adaptable to diverse environments and tasks, showcasing notable benefits in RIS-assisted interference suppression, particularly with large RIS, thereby enhancing UAV data reception rates. Additionally, MATD3 exhibits faster and smoother convergence for extended task durations and smaller RIS scenarios. Simulation results reveal that UAVs tend to move closer to RIS, with energy efficiency falling as IoT tasks increase, affirming the proposed algorithm's high energy efficiency and effectiveness. © 2025 IEEE.
