With the excessive consumption of fossil energy and the growing environmental pollution caused by its combustion, the gas turbine system (GTS) plays a key role in distributed renewable energy fields due to its versatility, efficiency and controllability. This paper focuses on the adaptive constraint regulation problem for the GTS with time-varying load disturbance, thereby facilitating exact speed tracking to regulate the fuel flow for the turbine under variable load conditions. Therein, a residual transformation dynamics based on the performance function are established for triggering the preset-time residual convergence and output performance constraints. Then, an adaptive constraint controller is developed to ensure the desired regulation level of the GTS. Simulation results illustrate that the proposed strategy can mitigate the load disturbance effect and guarantee the GTS performance constraints. © 2024 IEEE.

Autonomous vehicles, especially those based on deep reinforcement learning, are known for their susceptibility to the adversarial perturbations. To enhance their robustness, it is imperative to not only detect their decision errors through testing, but also fortify their robustness against these errors. This paper proposes an iterative optimization method that trains multiple adversarial agents with varying adversarial intensities to identify decision errors in the driving vehicle and enhance its robustness by retraining to counteract these adversarial agents. The effectiveness of the method is evaluated in a lane-changing scenario and the results demonstrate improved robustness of deep reinforcement learning based autonomous driving strategies compared to the adversarial reinforcement learning with a single adversary. © 2023 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Hydroclimate over the Tibetan Plateau(TP)notably influences the eco-environment of the Northern *** its high elevation and complex topography,the climate in the TP shows a high sensitivity to anthropogenic warming and volcanic-induced *** mechanism by which a future volcanic or similar radiative perturbation affects precipitation in the TP under an anthropogenic warming climate must be addressed not only to enable regional adaptation but deepen our understanding of how a climate system evolves under such a dual ***,based on the Community Earth system Model version 1.2 and ensemble simulations under pre-industrial and RCP8.5 scenarios,we showed that a Tambora-sized volcanic perturbation led to severe rainfall reduction over the south TP in the following summer(June-August).Evaporation response accounted for a minor and relatively constant share of precipitation reduction following the Clausius-Clapeyron scaling,whereas dynamic processes triggered an El Nino-like response in the eastern equatorial Pacific,which suppressed the Walker and Hadley circulation and contributed to drying *** warming renders the post-Tambora hydroclimate responses with 30%higher severity as a result of the increased climatological moisture content and intensified El Nino response,which enhanced hydroclimate sensitivity and attenuated monsoon *** results illustrate the amplification effect of global warming on the plateau's hydroclimate responses to external forcings,which may add another layer of uncertainty on climate adaptation in this already complex region.

The use of abundant elements in the earth as electrocatalytic hydrogen production catalysts is of great significance for hydrogen energy ***,we report amorphous TiO_(2)-decorated CoP/NF(TiO_(2)–CoP/NF)as an excellent electrocatalyst for alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).The welldispersed amorphous TiO_(2)on nanoneedle-like CoP arrays preserves the crystal structure of CoP and changes its electronic structure by interfacial charge *** to CoP/NF catalyst,the Ti O_(2)–CoP/NF composite catalyst exhibits high HER activity with an overpotential of 61 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2)and high ***,it almost maintains the Volmer step as a rate-determining step(RDS)and the Tafel slope at a wide cathodic potential range showing the fast kinetics under large polarization *** simulations reveal that the combination of TiO_(2)and CoP selectively accelerates the hydrated K+diffusion,regulates the interfacial water orientation to adapt to the subsequent smooth water dissociation,and optimizes*H adsorption/H_(2)*** strengthened coupling of HER multi-scale-processes on transition metal compound composites catalysts is the underlying mechanism for improving HER activity.

The contribution of water molecules to the hydrogen evolution reaction

Traditionally,water molecules act as solvents in most chemical reactions,whereas they act as solvents and reactants in the alkaline electrolyte for the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).It is well known that there is a current plateau in the linear potential–current dependence for HER in neutral or near-neutral electrolytes,showing that the HER is governed by the mass transport of reactive hydronium species at a given *** sharp rise in the current signal after the plateau at a slightly higher overpotential indicates that HER is supported by a new reactant,namely the water molecules rather than the limited hydronium ***,in combination with our own research experience in water electrolysis,we review the relevant literature in these years about the HER activity descriptor and mainly focus on the contribution of water molecules to the HER,including their dissociation,configuration,and composition in regulating the pH-dependent ***,we try to provide new insights into understanding the mechanism of the HER in terms of interfacial water enrichment,orientation,and configuration with the electric field strength of electrode/electrolyte interface and electrode compositions.

Experimental and heat transfer studies of MHP-PV/T by Reynolds number and heat transfer coefficient enhancement

The photovoltaic/thermal (PV/T) system, as an energy conversion system to generate electricity and heat, has great application potential in northwest zone of ample solar energy resource in China. The working media inside the micro heat pipe (MHP) of previous studies was acetone. Compared to acetone, R141b has better stability and lower solubility. For working fluid as R141b in the MHP, higher Reynolds Number (Re) theoretically means better heat transfer. During the typical winter season, when the inclination of the PV panel was 45°, the average power conversion efficiency (PCE) and thermal conversion efficiency (TCE) can reach 12.8 and 26.4 %. Furthermore, in order to reduce the simulation time and facilitate the research, the study establishes the fitting equation of MHP-PV/T surface temperature based on solar radiation intensity and environmental temperature with an average error of 7.6 %. Furthermore, a three-dimensional mathematical model of MHP-PV/T system was developed and validated with experimental results, investigating the Re of R141b in the MHPs and calculating the related heat transfer coefficient (h) based on Re. The simulation showed that the Re and h at the condensation section of the MHP were bigger than those at the evaporation section. The Re and h increased with the water temperature decrease of airfoil heat exchanger and solar radiation intensity rise. Lastly, when water temperature of airfoil heat exchanger was unchanged, the impact of solar radiation intensity on h was greater than Re. When the solar radiation intensity remained unchanged and the water temperature decreased, Re was the main reason for affecting the change of h. The research results will give a scientific foundation and technical application for the MHP-PV/T, as well as more efficient solar energy applications in the future. © 2023

Automatic extraction of tailing ponds from Very High-Resolution(VHR)remotely sensed images is vital for mineral resource *** study proposes a Pseudo-Siamese Visual Geometry Group Encoder-Decoder network(PSVED)to achieve high accuracy tailing ponds extraction from VHR ***,handcrafted feature(HCF)images are calculated from VHR images based on the index calculation algorithm,highlighting the tailing ponds'***,considering the information gap between VHR images and HCF images,the Pseudo-Siamese Visual Geometry Group(Pseudo-Siamese VGG)is utilized to extract independent and representative deep semantic features from VHR images and HCF images,***,the deep supervision mechanism is attached to handle the optimization problem of gradients vanishing or exploding.A self-made tailing ponds extraction dataset(TPSet)produced with the Gaofen-6 images of part of Hebei province,China,was employed to conduct *** results show that the proposed'method_achieves the best visual performance and accuracy for tailing ponds extraction in all the tested methods,whereas the running time of the proposed method maintains at the same level as other *** study has practical significance in automatically extracting tailing ponds from VHR images which is beneficial to tailing ponds management and monitoring.

Indoor thermal comfort comparison between passive solar house with active solar heating and without active solar heating in Tibetan

Passive solar house technology has been spread for many farmers and herdsmen to improve the indoor thermal environment in Tibetan. However, due to lackage of fuels and arid cold in winter, dry cow dung and coal are popularly fired in stove in passive solar houses, which leads to indoor air pollution and poor indoor comfort. For improving indoor thermal comfort of Tibetan, an active solar heating system which consists of 7 sets of tandem solar water heaters with 30 glass evacuated solar tubes, low temperature floor heating and circulation controller was developed and tested for a common house without insulation in Gan-nan Tibetan area. Its indoor environment was compared and evaluated by PMV-PPD and LPD method to that of the same passive solar house heated by coal stove. On sunny, cloudy and snow days, the active solar heating system provided 113.1, 46.4 and 26.3 kWh of heat to room. The indoor humidity and wind speed of the experimental building were better. The indoor temperatures were 17.2-20.7, 14.9-20.5 and 11.0-14.8°C, while the compared building were 8.9-14.8, 10.1-12.1 and 7.2-10.5°C. The maximum temperature difference between head and ankle were 1.7, 1.6 and 0.9℃, and the compared building were 4, 4 and 4.7℃. The PMV-PPD on sunny day were class I and II;on cloudy day were class I, II and III;on snow day was class III. On sunny and cloudy days, the LPD were class I, on snow day was class I, II and III. The PMV-PPD and LPD for typical days of the compared building were class III. During the 179 days, the mean indoor temperature exceeded 14 ℃ for 81 days, the solar active heating system provided 12471 kWh of heat to room. The CO2 emission reduction was 12905 kg. The system's dynamic payback period were 2.57 years. © 2023

Thermochemical conversions are pathways for biomass utilization to produce various value-added energy and chemical products. For the development of novel thermochemical conversion technologies, an accurate understanding of the reaction performance and kinetics is essential. Given the diversity of the thermal analysis techniques, it is necessary to understand the features and limitations of the reactors, ensuring that the selected thermal analysis reactor meets the specific need for reaction characterization. This paper provides a critical overview of the thermal analysis reactors based on the following perspectives: 1) gas flow conditions in the reactor, 2) particle’s external and internal heat and mass transfer limitations, 3) heating rate, 4) temperature distribution, 5) nascent char production and reaction, 6) liquid feeding and atomization, 7) simultaneous sampling and analyzing of bed materials, and 8) reacting atmosphere change. Finally, prospects and future research directions in the development of analysis techniques are proposed.
