We develop a theory of quantum M-ary phase shift keying in which quantum states of optical modes are modulated at the transmitter by applying one of M uniformly-spaced phase shifts. We allow full freedom in choosing modulation states with any number of signal, i.e., transmitted, and ancilla modes, subject only to an average energy, i.e., photon number, constraint in either the signal modes alone or in the signal and ancilla modes together. For lossless operation and unrestricted POVM measurements at the receiver, we find the explicit form of the modulation state that minimizes the average error probability under an energy constraint of N photons. Multiple signal modes, mixed states, and entanglement with an ancilla are shown to be unnecessary for optimum performance. We show that communication with zero error is possible if and only if N ≥ (M - 1)/2.

Deep Web databases contain more than 90% of pertinent information of the Web. Despite their importance, users don't profit of this treasury. Many deep web services are offering competitive services in term of prices, quality of service, and facilities. As the number of services is growing rapidly, users have difficulty to ask many web services in the same time. In this paper, we imagine a system where users have the possibility to formulate one query using one query interface and then the system translates query to the rest of query interfaces. However, interfaces are created by designers in order to be interpreted visually by users, machines can not interpret query from a given interface. We propose a new approach which emulates capacity of interpretation of users and extracts query from deep web query interfaces. Our approach has proved good performances on two standard datasets.

In this paper, we present an inexpensive system for diverless video capture and fast image stitching of image frames for rapid reef assessment of shallow coral reefs. Our system has two main components: 1) Teardrop, a boat-towable, winged hull apparatus designed to house a commercial digital camera, and 2) a mosaicking algorithm to stitch the coral reef video into mosaics for further appreciation and analysis. The captured reef video is then separated into image frames which are to be stitched sequentially using Fast Image Labeling. The overlap between image frames is estimated using Single-Step DFT, an efficient sub-pixel estimation algorithm. The estimated overlap is used to compute for the area to be added to the mosaic space. The overlapping section between succeeding image-pairs are stitched along a seam determined by a minimal-cost path using dynamic programming. The visibility of the seam boundaries is further minimized by utilizing blending on multi-resolution splines. Experimental results on automated reef mosaics creation from actual coral reef video taken using Teardrop shows the performance of the system described. The main contribution of this work is the demonstration of a rapid reef visualization system using a diverless system and commercially available, non-research-grade imaging equipment.

We propose an approach to recognize group activities which involve several persons based on modeling the interactions between human bodies. Benefitted from the recent progress in pose estimation [1], we model the activities as the interactions between the parts belong to the same person (intra-person) and those between the parts of different persons (inter-person). Then a unified, discriminative model which integrates both types of interactions is developed. The experiments on the UT-Interaction Dataset [2] show the promising results and demonstrate the power of the interacting models.

Conventional classification algorithms need samples for all classes (e.g. normal and abnormal) during the training phase. However, in many anomaly detection application, we can only get a class samples (commonly, normal samples) to train detectors. This paper presents an improved negative selection algorithm (NSA) and its applications to anomaly detection. This approach can only use normal samples to train detectors;at the same time, in order to overcome the drawbacks of the current representation of the self-space in NSAs, a new scheme of the representation of the self-space is introduced with variable-sized self-radius. In our experiments, this approach is tested using the wellknown real world datasets;preliminary results show that the new approach improves the overall performance of detectors and without increase in complexity.

A flexible transparent modify dipole antenna printed on PET film is presented in this paper. The proposed antenna was designed to operate at 2.4GHz for ISM applications. The impedance characteristic and the radiation characteristic were simulated and measured. The proposed antenna has good performance. It can be easily mounted on conformal shape, because it is fabricated on PET film having the flexible characteristic.
