Endophytic fungi (Y6, Y8, Y10, G8) of ginkgo were studied in this paper to clarify what species of them, what kind of flavonoids of their metabolite, and the bacteriostatic activity of fermentation liquid from endophytic fungi. Disc diffusion method was used to determine antibacterial properties that the target strains to dominant spoilage bacteria X15 (bacillus), T10 (proteus), X5 (aureus), N4 (Serratia marcescens) from low temperature meat products, the results showed that Y6, Y8 and Y10 had best strains antibacterial properties for X15, T10, N4, respectively, and G8 is the best strain in antibacterial performance. The metabolites of four endophytic fungi of ginkgo biloba were analysed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), the results showed that quercetin and isorhamnetin were contained in the fermented liquid of Y6 strain, isorhamnetin and quercetin were contained in the fermented liquid of Y8 and Y10 respectively. Four strains were identified by molecular biology by extracting DNA, the result shows that Y6, Y8, Y10, G8 strains were Penicillium sp., Dothiorella gregaria., Phoma sp., Fusarium nematophilum.

In this thesis, the chemical properties of chestnut shell pigments were mainly studied. Through a series of pigment stability experiments, it could be learned that the pigment of chestnut shell was sensitive to different pH and heat, stable to light, and had certain tolerance to oxidant H2O2 and reducing agent ascorbic acid. Mn2+ and Zn2+ had certain enhancement effects on color of the pigments. Cu2+, Fe2+, Fe3+ and Al3+ could destroy the stability of pigment, and caused precipitate. The pigment was also stable to the commonly used as food additives.

Study on corruption bacteria in Beijing sausages

Low-temperature meat products are very popular, but due to the characteristics of processing technology, there are still some heat-resistant microorganism residues after sterilization, which lead to its extremely vulnerable to corruption and short shelf-life. The spoilage discipline and mechanisms of Beijing sausages were summarized on the basis of spoilage bacteria isolation, identification and analysis. The main results were as follows: by using method of 16S rDNA sequence analysis, the main spoilage bacteria which isolated and identified from Beijing sausages were Pseudomonas sp, Staphylococcus sp, and Brochothrix sp. By denaturing gradient gelelectrophoresis(PCR-DGGE) analysis, there were 13 kinds of the spoilage bacteria of Beijing sausages, and Pseudomonas sp was the main spoilage bacteria.

Separating and Purifying of Endophytic Fungi from Ginkgo Biloba and Screening of Flavonoid-Producing Strains

In order to screen the endophytic fungi of ginkgo biloba with high flavonoid yield, the surface of the sample was disinfected by immersing with 75% ethanol, 3% sodium hypochlorite and sterile water alternating. The endophytic fungi of ginkgo biloba were separated by tissue culture method. 47 strains of endophytic fungi were obtained, and 16, 17 and 14 strains were found in the branches, leaves and roots respectively. The flavonoid-producing strains and its content of total flavonoids in the fermentation broth were determined by chromogenic reaction and colorimetric method of aluminum chloride respectively. Finally, four strains with the highest flavonoid-producing (Y6, Y8, Y10 and G8) were screened, and theirs total flavonoids content in the fermentation broth were 25.33±1.29 mg/L, 32.04±1.38 mg/L, 20.48±0.83 mg/L and 20.19±1.59 mg/L respectively.

This paper aims to reveal the scavenging effects of chestnut flower extract on nitrite. The effects of extraction temperature, extraction time, ethanol concentration on the removal effect of nitrite were studied by single factor test and orthogonal test. The best conditions for removing nitrite in the result were shown as below: extraction temperature: 40 °C, ethanol concentration: 40%, extraction time: 1.5 h, and the maximum scavenging rate could reach 94% are the optimal conditions for its reaction with nitrite.

This research is aimed at developing a strain-rate and temperature dependent crushing model for expanded polystyrene foam (EPS). EPS is a closed cell foam that is mainly used in applications where energy absorption is critical such as in bicycle helmets. It has good mechanical properties and offers at the same time a reduction on material costs and weight. The main purpose of this work is to study the dynamic properties of EPS foams by deriving stress-strain curves at different strain rates and temperatures. Further objective is to study the compressive loading of EPS foam in bicycle helmets by finite element (FE) simulation and to create a model to simulate the behavior of the EPS foam. Finally, it is also aimed to establish a comparison of the FE analysis in LS-DYNA with the dynamic compression test results. The stress-strain curves for different strain rate and for different temperatures are the output of this experimental test program. During compression, no internal damage was observed in CT-scans. This result allowed the creation of a uniform foam model. The methodology in this research allows developing more accurate FE models for bicycle helmets that can be used during a design process. © 2016, European Conference on Composite Materials, ECCM. BACKGROUND:In response to supply shortages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, N95 filtering facepiece respirators (FFRs or "masks"), which are typically single-use devices in healthcare settings, are routinely being used for prolonged periods and in some cases decontaminated under "reuse" and "extended use" policies. However, the reusability of N95 masks is limited by degradation of fit. Possible substitutes, such as KN95 masks meeting Chinese standards, frequently fail fit testing even when new. The purpose of this study was to develop an inexpensive frame for damaged and poorly fitting masks using readily available materials and 3D printing. RESULTS:An iterative design process yielded a mask frame consisting of two 3D printed side pieces, malleable wire links that users press against their face, and cut lengths of elastic material that go around the head to hold the frame and mask in place. Volunteers (n = 45; average BMI = 25.4), underwent qualitative fit testing with and without mask frames wearing one or more of four different brands of FFRs conforming to US N95 or Chinese KN95 standards. Masks passed qualitative fit testing in the absence of a frame at rates varying from 48 to 94 % (depending on mask model). For individuals who underwent testing using respirators with broken or defective straps, 80-100 % (average 85 %) passed fit testing with mask frames. Among individuals who failed fit testing with a KN95, ~ 50 % passed testing by using a frame. CONCLUSIONS:Our study suggests that mask frames can prolong the lifespan of N95 and KN95 masks by serving as a substitute for broken or defective bands without adversely affecting fit. Use of frames made it possible for ~ 73 % of the test population to achieve a good fit based on qualitative and quantitative testing criteria, approaching the 85-90 % success rate observed for intact N95 masks. Ultrasonic method for the extraction of tannin from walnut green husk was performed. In order to measure the content of tannin, folin-ciocalteu method was employed in this paper. Ultrasonic time, solvent concentration, temperature were selected for the single-factor experiment. By orthogonal experiment, the optimum condition was determined as acetone concentration was 50%, extracting temperature was 55°C, extracting time was 3.5h. In this condition, the actual content of tannin could reach to 27.37mg/g. In this paper, the crude extracts of tannin from walnut green husk was used to dye something. The results had shown that when ferrisulphas was used to as a mordant, the coloring degree would be the deepest. The coloring degree became deeper and deeper with the dyeing time increasing. There was no significant difference in coloring degree between 80 min and 100 min.

Ultrasonic method for the extraction of juglone from walnut green husk wes performed. The content of juglone was determined by spectrophotometry at wavelength 421 nm based on juglone as standard. Ultrasonic time, the solvent to sample ratio were selected for the single-factor experiment. By orthogonal experiment, the optimum condition was determined as solvent to sample ratio was 40:1, extracting temperature was 25°C, extracting time was 25min. In this condition, the actual content of juglone could reach to 2.5574mg/g. In this paper, the crude extracts of juglone from walnut green husk was used to dye something. The results had shown that when sodium sulfate was used to as a mordant, the coloring degree would be the deepest. The coloring degree became deeper and deeper with the dyeing time increasing. There was no significant difference in coloring degree between 120 min and 160 min.

Emerging Trends in design Management Education in the UK

She was trained in industrial design and practiced as a product designer in a small‐to‐medium‐size exporting company in Thailand. She later obtained research degrees in design management. Lam has many years of experience studying user requirements ascertaining design trends and recommending strategic design directions for a variety of organizations ranging from an equipment producer for domestic general hospitals to a global electronics company. Her current research interests include co‐design community‐led design and open innovation. A senior lecturer in the College of Engineering Design and Physical Sciences at Brunel University and a design researcher specializing in design policy and design management. The strategic use of design underpins much of her research activities. She has been involved in many design research projects involving design policy and strategy the social value and impact of design social innovation design for the public sector and design strategy for businesses. She is currently director of the strategies for branding design and innovation research group in the Human Centered Design Institute at Brunel University.
