He currently the program manager for the Sustainable Hardware and Affordable Readiness Practice Program (SHARP). is a Navy-wide logistics research and development prgram aimed at the successful transiton of proved technologies inot the fleet. SHARP focuses on reducing acquisition performance capability reliability maintainability and readiness of these systems. Mr. Grubb has served as a department director for the past eleven years. His most recent assignment was as director of the Tactical Computer Resources and Test Equipment Department. This organization provided acquisition and in-service engineering support of the Navy's tectical embedded computers priphirals displays and mass memory storage devices. The organization also provided a complete range of product engineering and metrology engineerig services for SSP NevSeaSysCom and the Trident Program. Prior to this appointment Mr. Grubb was deptuy director psysical security programs department and site responsible for program management and system integration of ashore integrated security systems. Mr. Grubb holds a B.S. degree in industrial engineering from Iowa State Universtiy an M.S. degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University and has copleted the course work (Dec.'96 for a master's degree in public and environment affairs at Indiana University-Purdue Univeristy Indianapolis. The research presented here was conducted while he was employed at American Superconductor Coporation where he held both technical and program management positions. While there Dr. Joshi managed the development of several demonstration products including the sonar transducer presented here. He holds M.S. and Sc.D. degreesfrom the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.S. degree from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He has worked in several diverse fields including solar energy fluidized bed technology and superconductivity. His work on stochastic analysis of solar insolation was recognized by the ASME and his doctoral research was accorded international recognition for its unique contribution to understanding quenching in superconducting magnets. Dr. Joshi has numerous patents and more than thirty-five technical publications to his credit. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts and an active member of ASME and IEEE. He is a co-founder and treasurer of the New England Chapter of the Cryogenics Society of America. He will be listed in Whos Who in the East in 1997. Jan Lindberg:is a physicist in the Transducers and Arrays Division of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in New London Connecticut. He leads NUWC'S exploratory development efforts for transduction science and currently is spearheading an effort to introduce high-energy density active materials into tactical sonar systems. Prior to joining Philadelphia Gear Mr. Phinney's career included positions as Engineering Supervisor at Newport News Shipbuilding Director of Product Engineering for SKF Industries Manager of Engineering for Propulsion Systems Inc and Chief of Design Engineering for High Speed and Marine Drives at the Falk Corporation. The scope of his marine experience includes management design of propulsion equipment and logistic support for military and commercial vessels ranging from fishing vessels to aircraft carriers. Mr. Phinney is a graduate of Antioch College earning his BSME in 1963. A member of ASNE since 1985 Mr. Phinney is a past member of the National Council representing the mid-Atlantic region. Among these were the Trident II fire control and navigation systems the BSY-I Anti-Submarine Warfare System and the Navy standard computers (UYK44 and EMSP). As manager of the ATE Technology Division he was responsible for the SP-23 Fire Control System Support Project the SP-24 Navigation Project and the Fleet Progressive Maintenance Program (2M/ATE). This Division was responsible for selection and application of electronic product technology and for developing fleet test and repair techniques. He is currently employed in the Packaging Programs Management Branch of the U.S. Naval Aviation Supply Office in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Since 1988 Mr. Gleaner has been actively involved in the design and development of reusable containers for naval avionic hardware ranging from circuit cards to complete aircraft engines. His work includes the performance of technical investigations material studies manufacturing process evaluations stress analysis calculations and analysis of dynamic shock loadings. Prior to working in the Packaging Branch Mr. Gleaner performed refurbishment feasibility studies of critical aircraft hardware in the Product Engineering Group. Mr. Gleaner's previous background was in the electrical power generation industry. where he designed pressure vessels and storage tanks in support of nuclear power generating stations. Richard Arter:is a packaging specialist with nine years experience. He is employed at the U.S. Naval Aviation Supply Office Packaging Programs Management Branch where he is the current leader of the Container Design Team. Since 1983 Mr. Arter has been active in the development of packaging handling storage and transportation (PHS&T) requirements for naval aviation hardware and support equipment. His work includes logistics planning program management of container development projects preparation of performance specifications and development and improvement of packaging and preservation capabilities at various naval activities.
