The growth of coffee business in Indonesia has given rise to coffee shops in big cities, in Yogyakarta and its surroundings (2017) reaching 1,200. This number is higher than Semarang 700 and Solo only 400 shops. Yogyakarta as a student city is famous for its "jos"coffee, which is coffee infused with burning charcoal so that the sound of "jos"can rise. This city has many students, artists and younger generation who enjoy "jos"coffee. The "jos"coffee waste produced, one of which is in Pak Agus' shop, is 4-6 kg/night. The aim of this research is to use "jos"coffee grounds waste as a basic material for making composites. The research method was carried out through experiments in the laboratory by making a composite waste of coffee grounds mixed with water, gauze fiber, coconut coir fiber, alginate, glycerol and gelatin. Composite composition consisted of "jos"coffee grounds from 10, 20 and 30 grams, 120 ml water, gauze, coconut fiber, 3 grams of alginate, 2 drops of glycerol, gelatin from 2,3,4, and 5 grams. The ingredients are cooked for 5 minutes, printed and then left for 24 hours. he resulting composites were tested for tensile, tear test, flexibility tested and observed for surface texture Composites with coconut coir fibers have poor surface texture and are easily fractured so that the mechanical properties of what is tested are composites reinforced with gauze fibers. The mechanical properties of the best composites were reinforced with gauze with a composition of 20 grams of coffee and 4 grams of gelatin, the tensile strength was 15.58 kg/mm2 and the tear resistance was 11.51 kg. From the observation that the composite has a smooth surface texture and can be bent up to 1800, so that it can be formed as an alternative material for making handicraft products. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Biomimicry comparison studies before and during Covid-19 pandemic in product design innovation

Technological advances bring changes and impacts in many aspects of human life, and it is also affecting product design innovation learning system, one of the examples is the students' dependence on the internet in finding references to their design ideas. In this research, students are introduced to an environmental observation-based learning method known as biomimicry to create innovative product designs. Respondents in this research were students of the product design study program at the Universitas Agung Podomoro Jakarta which were divided into 2 groups as a comparison. The observation process was carried out before and during the Covid-19 pandemic in different locations and objects. The method used in this research is a participatory qualitative method with a comparative and correlational approach. The purpose of this research is to study and evaluate product design innovative learning systems by observing comparative biomimicry before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. The conclusion is that after comparing biomimicry observations to students before and during the Covid-19 pandemic occurred, it turns out that there are significant differences in skills, conceptual, and creativity aspects resulting from the learning process in two different groups of students.

Physical and mechanical properties of coffee waste composites and viselin fabrics as alternative base materials for manufacturing products in the interior field

The results of coffee plantations and the growth of coffee shop entrepreneurs in Indonesia are increasing so that coffee shops (angkringan) have sprung up in various cities. World coffee consumption averages 1.7 kg per capita per year, in Indonesia it has increased by an average of more than 7% per year with the consumption of 4.55 million bags of coffee measuring 60 kg, a growth of 1.8% until the 2018/2019 period. In the city of Yogyakarta and its surroundings there are 1,200 coffee shops in 2017, this figure is much higher than the big cities around it. Yogyakarta is famous for its 'jos' coffee in a lot around the Malioboro street. As a student city, many young people also enjoy coffee and produce a lot of coffee dregs waste. For this reason, this research raises about the use of coffee dregs waste into composites with viselin fiber reinforcement based on its physical and mechanical properties as an alternative base material for making products in the interior sector. The composite composition consists of coffee dregs ranging from 10,20,30,40, and 50 gr, 120 ml water, 3 gr alginate, glycerol 2,3,4 and 5 drops, so the elements varied are coffee and glycerol. The ingredients are mixed and heated then printed measuring 10 cm × 15 cm, then aerated for 24 hours. Composite results were tested for tensile, tear test, flexibility test and observation of surface texture. The results of the composite test with the composition of 30 gr of coffee and 3 drops of glycerol have the greatest tensile strength of 34.9 kg / mm and the tear resistance of receiving a load of 30.4 kg. For physical testing, it is obtained that a smooth surface can be bent and can even be formed into a tube so that the resulting composite can be used as an alternative material for making a product, especially in the interior field.

The increasing demand for cement in the world of construction can have an extraordinary effect, especially in the production of cement which produces CO2. So we need an alternative material as a substitute and even replace the role of cement. Utilization of coal waste in the form of fly ash is in the spotlight to be maximized. Therefore this research was conducted as an alternative contribution to the solution using geopolymer concrete in terms of setting time and compressive strength with variations in the addition of cement. The method used is experimental in the laboratory which produces qualitative data for further numerical calculations. Tests focused on the setting time and compressive strength of concrete using 5 mix designs with cement variations ranging from 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% of the use of fly ash. The results of the setting time with the highest duration, namely 100% FA=1.5, 95 minutes initial setting time and 225 minutes final setting time, then decreased to the lowest duration, namely 60% FA: Pc 40%=1.5. The initial setting time is 15 minutes and the final setting time is 37 minutes. The highest concrete compressive strength results in the MD 4 mix design with 70% FA mixture: Pc 30%=1.5, which is 43.3 MPa. While the lowest compressive strength is the design mix MD 1 with a mixture of 100% FA=1.5 of 21.8 MPa.

Pressure ulcers are a common problem among older nursing home residents. Wound healing monitoring in these older residents causes intensive significant workload for nurses. Moisture and sebum of the skin are critical factors during wound healing which can observations for nurses quick and handy. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation between moisture and sebum of the skin during wound healing in older people. The data of moisture and sebum was observed for four times in sequence biweekly from the sacrum region of eighteen subjects. Based on the wound healing status, the subjects were grouped into the wound healing, wound non-healing, and non-wound groups. The wound area was calculated by manually tracing the wound area in captured images using the Image-J. Ulcer area were median correlation with moisture (r =.61) and sebum (r = −.60) in the wound healing group. Synthesis of mercaptoethyl ester of palm fatty acid distillate: Effects of dehydration methods

This research was aimed to evaluate the synthesis of mercaptoethyl ester of palm fatty acid distillate (PFAD) where water as a byproduct was removed by using vacuum distillation and azeotropic distillation. The reactions were done in a batch reactor using para-toluene sulfonic acid (pTSA) as a catalyst. The performances of the synthesis were evaluated by measuring the sulfhydryl content and yield of the product. Compared to dehydration by vacuum distillation, dehydration by azeotropic distillation gave lower sulfhydryl content and yield but faster reaction completion. Azeotropic distillation gave sulfhydryl content and yield in the range of 6–7% and 57–74%, respectively. Vacuum distillation gave sulfhydryl content and yield in the range of 7–9% and 75–85%, respectively.
