The houses for the low income residential construction sector are one of the most prominent niches in the building construction sector in Brazil. However, the construction process continues to handcraft, which creates many errors and quality problems. To reach greater efficiency, it is necessary to have large-scale production with repeatability, standardization, high productivity and an accurate management system. The final product of the construction is a unique building, not in serial production. What makes it a project management model widely used nowadays is its unique product through a specific design. However, these management models are generic, for all kinds of activities and sectors, and it does not refer to innovation and industrial environment. Meanwhile, the construction industry needs a model for developing its innovative approaches for the best project management practices, relevant management and the peculiarities of the industry. The reference models suggest that the product can develop by dividing into stages. That division is a way to deal with the complex process of development and aims, in addition, to establish control points to ensure increased design efficiency. The purpose of this article is to generate? from the comparison of the models mentioned? a preliminary proposal phase for new reference model for innovation in construction.

The soybean transport costs represent the biggest part of the costs that involve the production and commodity operations. This study analyzed the main soybean flow routes for the foreign Market and proposed alternative routes that contribute to reduce costs involving the transport of grains produced by the macro-region of the Mato Grosso state. For this purpose, it was used mathematical modeling with application of linear programming through Excel Solver supplement program, considering six origins (macro-regions of Mato Grosso state) and eight main destination ports. The results present a minimization of the transport costs in US$ 6.59 million, such as the reduction of the amount of routes used from 34 to 13 routes. It was concluded that the reduction of the transport costs was possible due to the inclusion of routes containing stretches of waterways, with the flow through the Port of Manaus/AM and Port of São Luiz/MA.

The study of the clusters is of interest in the academic research due to their specific characteristics. The objective of this research is to analyze the quality management system in the production chain of the baby fashion cluster in the county of Terra Roxa, State of Parana, Brazil. We made a survey research with descriptive approach involving all the manufacturers of the cluster, using questionnaires with closed questions. The results showed that no matter their products are considered of good quality in Brazil and the manufacturers of this baby fashion cluster see quality as an important instrument to be competitive, just a part of them use quality management system and basic quality tools to improve their production processes.

Nowadays, manufacturing companies offer an increasing amount of product variants. Especially in B2B markets, product variety is taken for granted. Hence, existing variety management approaches focus exclusively on the variety implications. Certain approaches consider customer benefit when evaluating potential product variants. However, a targeted decision-making approach for adapting the variant quantity regarding the customer value does not exist. In this paper, a method is presented that accounts for changes in customer value as a function of the number of product variants offered. Thus, attributes that influence the customer value are identified and linked to the product variant quantity.

This research analyzes the use of Information System (IS) by the furniture cluster located in the city of Umuarama, State of Parana, Brazil. The methodology used was a survey research made in 37 companies of this segment. These companies were interviewed about the use of IS as a competitive advantage in the cluster and in the distribution channel. The results showed that small enterprises use limited resources of IS in their internal processes and relationships with the distribution channels. The use of applications increases in midsize companies;however, they do not have systems to analyze their after sales. Large companies make intensive use of software in administrative processes, reaching more competitiveness than the other competitors.

The Brazilian grain production for 2014/15 was estimated at 200.682 million tons, which corresponds to 15.08% of world production. The largest Brazilian producer is the state of Mato Grosso, which produces about 29.3% of soybeans in Brazil. The objective of this study was to develop and analyze a computerized decision model to determine the best cargo transportation route. For this reason, a model was created using Fuzzy Logic on MATLAB®R2015b software. The input values were: US$3.25 / ton / 100km for cost, 27.7 hours for time and 94.2% for reliability, and pointed preferably the port of Itaqui with priority 5.94, to Miritituba priority 5.41, the third choice would be Santos Priority 4.82 and finally the Paranaguá destination with priority 4.02. It could be concluded that it is possible to make the decision to which harbor to export through the use of technical criteria, after testing the model.

The aim of this paper is to increase energy efficiency by reducing specific energy consumption (SEC) during Cissus quadrangularis drying. The fresh sample, with a high moisture content of 90 ± 2 % wet basis (w.b.), was dried by hot air Fluidized bed technique at temperatures of 90, 110, 130 and 150°C to a final moisture content of 5 % (w.b.) and then was compared to the results of tray drying at a low temperature of 50°C, following a method by Tha Sae Hospital in Chumphon province, Thailand. The drying kinetic result revealed that fluidization drying had a higher rate of water removal than the tray drying method. That rate directly correlated with the drying temperature; it increased with an increase of drying temperature. With the increasing of the rate, it resulted in a decreasing of SEC. Although using a drying temperature of 150°C had the highest rate of water removal and subsequently had the lowest SEC, it negatively affected the antioxidant activity of the sample. To dry Cissus quadrangularis with the lowest SEC as possible, it should be dried by hot air fluidization at a drying temperature of 110°C. At this drying condition, there is still a high rate of water removal and a low effect of the desired qualities of the sample.

In our previous study, a cone-shaped rotating disk had been designed and proposed for generating shear force on the cell in a cell culture plate. This study aims to improve the design of the rotating disk that could provide a better uniformity of shear stress distribution. The top of the cone was designed to be trimmed off to obtain a flat head area. The effect of tilt angle (θ) was numerically studied using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technique in ANSYS-Fluent software. The results revealed that for 500 rpm, the new designed rotating disk with a height of cone-shaped top to the plate bottom h = 1 mm and θ = 25° provided the best uniformity of 0.820 which was better than that of the previously designed.

In this study, we put an effort to estimate crustal depth and image crustal structure beneath Merapi volcano by employing multicomponent analysis popularly known as Receiver Function technique. We collected a series of waveforms from teleseismic events recorded from October 2013 to mid-April 2015 at 53 stations as a part of DOMERAPI project. We processed selected seismograms by simple deconvolution process between radial and vertical components to estimate the depth of Moho discontinuity beneath the volcano. Current results show complex structure beneath the volcano and a relatively potential Moho depth at about 30 km, which becomes shallower to the North at about 23 km. Stations located at Southern and Northern area show potential low velocity zone though a velocity modelling is necessary to confirm its depth and how low the velocity is.
