Urban in Indonesia, is no longer limited as a center of community settlement. Now the city also functions as a center of government, a central hierarchy, and a center of economic growth. As a logical consequence of the role of cities as a center of growth and economy, urban contributions to national economic growth are increasing. To overcome this problem, a portable conveyor of solar-energized drying system was designed. With the portable conveyor of solar-energized drying system, the dryer will be easily moved and flexible to use. The advantage of portable conveyor of solar-energized drying system is the drying process could be done continuously with a little human power. Therefore, this portable conveyor of solar-energized drying system is designed to use renewable energy sources. To examine the portable conveyor of solar-energized drying system, the foodstuff was used for a testing of ingredients. The portable conveyor of solar-energized drying system testing show that the amount of water content in the foodstuff reduced, the drying rate accelerate. In addition, the amount of heat energy needed for the drying process also reduced. Hence process of drying foodstuff more efficienct.

In the recent years, a lot of attention is paid to univariate monitoring of time-between-events. When the univariate problem is extended to a multivariate situation, this study indicates that there is an emerging issue about the presence of asynchronous observations. This brings the new statistical challenge due to the way of data acquisition changes. This study also tries to give some possible solving ideas for the monitoring and analysis of multivariate TBE data stream.

Distributed systems consist of several heterogeneous computing devices. In such systems, the total cost of ownership (TCO) includes capital expenditure such as purchasing of equipment like servers, switches, etc. and operational expenditure such as human salary, electricity bills, etc. Thusly, power consumption is a big portion of operational expenditure. The high rate of power wastage is directly related to inefficient resource scheduling. In this paper, a multi-objective task scheduling algorithm is proposed to figure out multi-criteria resource management in distributed systems by leveraging fuzzy TOPSIS tool as a strong approach in multi-criteria optimization ambit. The result of implementation shows that our approach can well compromise between criteria based on their weights.

Guaranteeing the continuity and the quality of services in network plants is a key issue in the research area of asset management. Especially when the plants are located in a wide area where machines are not continuously monitored by the operators. In particular, the pervasive adoption of smart sensors could be able to develop intelligent maintenance system through an elaboration of data coming from the machines: this data could be processed by diagnostics algorithms to warn preventively the fault status of the components or machines monitored. The algorithms’ structure is contained in a multiple system of agents that have different tasks to manage both the single machine and the information exchanged within the whole system. This paper aims to present an application of Artificial Immune System defining, for each plant section, the kind of agents employed and the related sensors that must be adopted to collect the useful data. In order to provide a practical example, the structure of an Artificial Immune System has been implemented in a wastewater treatment plant where the agents are tested with noteworthy results. © 2016

In this paper, we explain how an experiential learning course and study tour to Gansu Province (People’s Republic of China) enabled undergraduates at the Singapore management University (SMU) to acquire 21st-century competencies and higher-order thinking skills by analyzing and evaluating specific aspects of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and China–Singapore (Chongqing) Connectivity Initiative — New International Land–Sea Trade Corridor (CCI-ILSTC) with emphasis on developing viable Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies aimed at selling Gansu produce in four Southeast Asian markets. We share how the course was designed to support the attainment of key learning goals and discuss how we turned pedagogical aspirations into concrete learning outcomes. We introduce key aspects of the so-called “SMU-XO” project that the students conducted in partnership with an industry partner, Pacific International Lines (PIL), and discuss how the project work helped learners to gain global competency by (i) examining critical issues related to BRI such as multi-modal infrastructure connectivity, (ii) appreciating the local perspectives of project stakeholders in Lanzhou and Shanghai and (iii) successfully interacting with people from different cultures, namely China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand.

European Union, USA and Brazil respond to 74% of pork carcass production. However, the productivity is affected by quality issues in production process, pre-handling logistics and transformation process. The objective of this paper was investigated the causes of Brazil's pig carcass condemnation and calculate its respective costs. A descriptive statistical analyzes was performed using data between 2010 and 2014 and costs are calculated comparing losses with pork price in the Brazilian market, in US dollars. The results showed that cost of losses for Pork Industry were estimated in US$ 27.827 million per year.

The present paper describes the perception and influence of retailers over consumer behavior and examine the factors that affect the meat consumption in São Paulo, Brazil. A survey was conducted in 30 butcher shops between June and July 2014. The data were analyzed using Hierarchical Cluster and K-Means Analysis on to Statistica software. Results identify three different important players for the Meat Supply Chains in São Paulo city: Butcher shops, mix retailers and trust retailers. This work aims at analysing the environmental strategies developed by fashion companies in order to identify the most important stakeholders involved in the strategy, the environmental practices carried out and the competitiveness impacts. A conceptual model, based on Association Rules (AR), has been proposed for investigating the network of influences among the environmental strategy, the environmental management practices and the environmental competitiveness and profitability of the companies. The research has been conducted through a survey submitted to fashion companies operating in Textile, Clothing and Leather (TCL) sectors. Results indicate that "customers" and "suppliers" are the most important stakeholders to be involved in the environmental strategy. A greater compliance and a risk reduction can be reached when the Financial institutions, Environmental NGOs, Rivals and Shareholders are involved in the environmental strategy. In this regards, results highlighted the importance of Environmental auditing programme for suppliers and Sustainable disclosures. Moreover, in fashion sector, the companies that pursued "Lower cost" as competitive advantage aim at obtaining from environmental strategy a great access to capital and lower cost of capital. © Springer International Publishing AG 2017.

This paper aims to present a theoretical framework for performance measurement of supply chain quality management (SCQM). A review of the literature on supply chain quality management, supply chain and quality management was conducted to develop key performance measurements related to six areas of integration between quality management and supply chain management environment: leadership, continuous improvement and innovation, sustainability, stakeholder involvement and commitment, information, and management and strategic planning. The findings suggest that SCQM integration can be assessed by nine performance measurements. The study contributes to our understanding of quality management practices within a supply chain (SC) environment from an integrated perspective. It extends the concept of supply quality chain integration by focusing on key performance measurement that may help to improve the overall performance of the supply chain.

This paper develops an MILP model, named Satisfactory-Green Vehicle Routing Problem. It consists of routing a heterogeneous fleet of vehicles in order to serve a set of customers within predefined time windows. In this model in addition to the traditional objective of the VRP, both the pollution and customers’ satisfaction have been taken into account. Meanwhile, the introduced model prepares an effective dashboard for decision-makers that determines appropriate routes, the best mixed fleet, speed and idle time of vehicles. Additionally, some new factors evaluate the greening of each decision based on three criteria. This model applies piecewise linear functions (PLFs) to linearize a nonlinear fuzzy interval for incorporating customers’ satisfaction into other linear objectives. We have presented a mixed integer linear programming formulation for the S-GVRP. This model enriches managerial insights by providing trade-offs between customers’ satisfaction, total costs and emission levels. Finally, we have provided a numerical study for showing the applicability of the model. © 2016, The Author(s).
