This paper presents the development of a conceptual model for Method Integrated Product Development Oriented for *** proposed method aims to assist designers in the development process, generating design alternatives directed at sustainable development and full life cycle of the *** research was limited to application of the method to a product category through a case *** research objective is to present the process of development and application of the *** results indicate that the proposed method provides the development process to insert the rationale for the development of sustainability-oriented products as a complement to traditional design requirements in existing models of product *** is believed that its application to other product designs is promising for the development of sustainable solutions.

This paper presents a multiple case study concerning to the Integrated Product Development Process(IPDP) that involves the concepts of environmental sustainability and social inclusion to build solar water heating system made of discarded and recyclable materials in a way that People with Visual deficiency(Pw VD) can participate in its *** research proposes that engineering courses in a near future adopt the aspect of Citizenship Education systematically, contextualizing environmental impact reduction and social inclusion of people with *** technical procedure of the study was delineated according to IPDP phases defined in two multidisciplinary strands leading to raw materials data collection through recycling and manufacturability with accessibility process to develop the product *** analysis of the results presents the tooling developed for manufacturing with accessibility of people with visual impairments and the efficiency of the prototype *** the end, it is placed the relevant notes observed during the research and sustainable assignments in social and environmental dimensions for the education of engineering professionals.

The identification of a nonlinear system with chaotic behavior denoted Chua's oscillator by using fuzzy models intertwined with particle swarm optimization (PSO) method is presented. This hybrid approach is applied to experimental data generated by an inductorless Chua's circuit that consists of an electronic chaotic oscillator. Chua's circuit has been used as a test platform by various scientific and engineering communities related to the study of chaos due its great potencial in technological applications, for instance, telecommunications, cryptography and physics. Fuzzy set theory has been evolved as a powerful modeling tool that can cope with uncertainties and nonlinearities in modeling and identification procedures. The identification of a optimized fuzzy model Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model involves two primary tasks: parameter tuning and structure optimization. The premise part of production rules is optimized here by using the particle swarm optimization method. In turn, least mean squares technique is applied to the consequent part of a T-S fuzzy model. Results indicate PSO method and Least Mean Square technique succeeded in constructing a T-S fuzzy model when dealing with chaotic dynamics obtained through experimental data supplied by inductorless Chua's electronic circuit. © 2007 IEEE.

This paper presents a diagnosis framework based on a qualitative model of the process. Starting from a dynamic abstraction procedure under a defined operating mode a fuzzy partitioning of the variables evolution is made, defining for each measured or observable variable a number of qualitative states. Then time Fuzzy intervals representing the moment of state change are defined. The process behaviour of the operating mode is represented by Time Fuzzy Petri nets (TFPN) model and its evolution is the consequence of events detection due to the partitioning bounds crossing. According to the membership possibility of an event to the estimated time interval and to fuzzy influence knowledge, it is possible to reason about a fault occurrence. The fuzzy data issue from the TFPN components allows evaluating the causes of the fault or failure mode. A model-based diagnosis of a hybrid system is presented.

The theme of Sustainable Development has gained more and repercussion in the society spheres contributing to a greater awareness of the need for natural resources conservation, as well as the challenge of keeping promoting the socio-economic development of the regions. One of the key issues for this sustainable development is in the Electric Power Generation with the increasing use of renewable energy, and less harm to the environment. In this scenario, the state of Paraná historically has been one of the largest producers of electricity in the country, almost entirely through hydroelectric plants due to the large watershed in the state. However, the use of this source is in constant decline due to the hydric potential exhaustion, and also due to the pressure from society related to the environmental, social and economic impacts occasioned by its installation. To overcome these limitations, other sources have been studied and applied such as the biomass, the wind and photovoltaic in isolated systems. Most recently, as a function of the Call No. 13/2011 and the Resolution 482/2012 from ANEEL (Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency), there was also the possibility of generating electricity through Grid-connected Photovoltaic Power systems. These systems have been widely employed in the urban environment as electricity generators near the distributed point of consumption, intensely applied in many countries, especially in Europe, usually requiring no additional area, since they can be installed on the roof of the building or integrated in it. This paper aims to present the Photovoltaic Map of the Paraná State, Brazil, which represents the potential for generating electricity through solar photovoltaic power, and also to compare the preliminary results of the values of electricity generation measured in the Gridconnected Photovoltaic Power system located at the Technological Federal University of Paraná (UTFPR) in the city of Curitiba, capital of Paraná-Brazil.

This paper aims at exploring how some factors identified in the PSS and product/service innovation literature can hinder or foster sustainable PSS implementation in developing countries, since there is a lack of knowledge concerning the characteristics of PSS transition processes in different contexts. The identified factors were investigated empirically, through two PSS solutions located in an emerging economy. The main results demonstrated the role of some potential factors in supporting the implementation and diffusion of PSS solutions, especially those related to the involvement of multiple actors in the value creation and the social embeddedness. However, the role of those factors still need to be investigated in future works, since only two cases were analyzed in this research. Analyses of successful and unsuccessful PSS cases as well as the identification of other factors and characteristics of PSS implementation in different contexts are directions for further research.

Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is a population-based swarm intelligence algorithm driven by the simulation of a social psychological metaphor instead of the survival of the fittest individual. Based on the swarm intelligence theory, this paper discusses the use of PSO approaches using an operator and based on the Gaussian probability distribution function as a population space of a cultural algorithm, called cultural Gaussian PSO (GPSO-CA). Cultural algorithms are mechanisms that incorporate domain knowledge obtained during the evolutionary process, which increase the efficiency of the search process. These approaches are employed in a well-studied continuous optimization problem of mechanical engineering design.

Artificial neural networks and fuzzy systems, have gradually established themselves as popular tools in approximating complicated nonlinear systems and time series forecasting. This paper investigates the hypothesis that the nonlinear mathematical models of multilayer perceptron and radial basis function neural networks and the Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy system are able to provide a more accurate out-of-sample forecast than the traditional autoregressive moving average (ARMA) and ARMA generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity (ARMA-GARCH) linear models. Using series of Brazilian exchange rate (R$/US$) returns with 15 min., 60 min., 120 min., daily and weekly basis, the out-pf-sample one-step-ahead forecast performance is compared. Results indicate that forecast performance is strongly related to the series' frequency and the forecasting evaluation shows that nonlinear models perform better than their linear counterparts. In the trade strategy based on forecasts, nonlinear models achieve higher returns when compared to a buy-and-hold strategy and to the linear models.

The technological development in healthcare experienced in actual days has relationship with the integration of many knowledge areas, fundamentally by searching new solutions in order to improve the quality of life of the society. Examples of this reality appears in medicine and engineering areas, where the computer-assisted techniques works together to solve many healthcare problems. In the surgical procedures context as well, as in dental implant planning, the surgeon still determine some parameters according to his personal experience, where only the visualization of the problems through Computed Tomography images are not enough to ensure the success of the procedure. Thus, this research aims to propose a computational model, as a decision support tool, in order to define a more appropriate positioning for dental implants. This is a fundamental part to determination of the necessary parameters for the process planning because the information is obtained automatically straight from image processing. The prototype presented in this work comprises a user-friendly interface, which allows dentists to observe the bone and dental structure in multi-perspective images. Also, it determines the implant location by an automatic procedure without intervention of dentist. The text shows a study case with the autonomous determination of an implant position.
