Rapid advances in quantum computing have raised worries about the security of classical encryption systems, as quantum computers can break many cryptographic techniques. This research strengthens encryption algorithms against quantum-based cryptographic assaults at the convergence of cybersecurity and quantum computing. Quantum computers, using quantum parallelism and quantum algorithms like Shor's and Grover's, threaten the security of widely used cryptographic systems like RSA and ECC, which use integer factorization and discrete logarithms. Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) is needed because quantum assaults can break classical encryption systems. This work emphasizes the need for quantum-resistant encryption techniques by examining the theoretical and practical effects of quantum computing on cryptography. It discusses quantum-safe algorithms like lattice-based, hash-based, and code-based cryptography that could replace or improve encryption standards. The research also examines quantum key distribution (QKD), a new secure communication method that uses quantum physics to share keys. The computational expense, implementation difficulty, and cybersecurity infrastructure integration difficulties of switching to quantum-resistant encryption methods are also examined. Quantum computing is evolving, hence safe encryption algorithms that can withstand quantum-based cryptographic assaults are needed. This paper concludes by emphasizing the need to standardize quantum-resistant algorithms, accelerate quantum cryptography research, and promote international collaboration to protect sensitive data from quantum threats. Future communication systems will depend on post-quantum cryptography to protect digital data.

We propose an efficient method to estimate the relative pose of a multi-camera system from a minimum of two affine correspondences (ACs). Our solution is novel as it computes the 6DOF relative pose by utilizing a first-order rotation approximation. We directly derive a single polynomial based on the constraint between ACs and the generalized camera model. Then a closed-form solution is found analytically and it produces an accurate relative pose estimation efficiently. Benefiting from the low number of exploited correspondences and the speed of the solver, it speeds up robust estimators, e.g. RANSAC, significantly. The proposed method is evaluated both on synthetic data and real-world image sequences from the KITTI benchmark. It is shown that the proposed solver is superior to the state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of accuracy.

This paper proposes a novel security method for protecting biometric fingerprint templates and storing them safely by creating a combined fingerprint template from different fingerprints, thereby creating a new virtual identity during enrolment. However, the second fingerprint image combined would be an image that was dynamically created by merging parts of several different images based on a merging algorithm used. We further extract the minutiae features from the two fingerprints. A combined fingerprint template is produced using the extracted information. Finally, the biometric values from the template are stored in a user-defined tree created. A new virtual identity is thus created to protect biometric templates from hackers and crackers. Even though the hacker has access to the database, they will not be able to match the biometric template with a person’s identity. Thus, when the database is stolen, the method avoids compromising complete minutiae features belonging to a single fingerprint. The proposed method achieves 0.3% FRR and 0.1% FAR. Hence, it balances both the recognition and security of the system.

Due to advances in digitization technology, documentation efforts and digital library systems, increasingly large collections of visual Cultural Heritage (CH) object data becomes available, offering rich opportunities for domain analysis, e.g., for comparing, tracing and studying objects created over time. In principle, existing shape- and image-based similarity search methods can aid such domain analysis tasks. However, in practice, visual object data are given in different modalities, including 2D, 3D, sketches or conventional drawings like profile sections or unwrappings. In addition, collections may be distributed across different publications and repositories, posing a challenge for implementing encompassing search and analysis systems. We introduce a methodology and system for cross-modal visual search in CH object data. Specifically, we propose a new query modality based on 3D views enhanced by user sketches (3D+sketch). This allows for adding new context to the search, which is useful e.g., for searching based on incomplete query objects, or for testing hypotheses on existence of certain shapes in a collection. We present an appropriately designed workflow for constructing query views from incomplete 3D objects enhanced by a user sketch based on shape completion and texture inpainting. Visual cues additionally help users compare retrieved objects with the query. We apply our method on a set of relevant 3D and view-based CH object data, demonstrating the feasibility of our approach and its potential to support analysis of domain experts in Archaeology and the field of CH in general. © 2019 The Author(s)

The analysis of painted pottery is instrumental for understanding ancient Greek society and human behavior of past cultures in Archaeology. A key part of this analysis is the discovery of cross references to establish links and correspondences. However, due to the vast amount of documented images and 3D scans of pottery objects in today's domain repositories, manual search is very time consuming. computer aided retrieval methods are of increasing importance. Mostly, current retrieval systems for this kind of cultural heritage data only allow to search for pottery of similar vessel's shape. However, in many cases important similarity cues are given by motifs painted on these vessels. We present an interactive retrieval system that makes use of this information to allow for a motif-driven search in cultural heritage repositories. We address the problem of unsupervised motif extraction for preprocessing and the shape-based similarity search for Greek painted pottery. Our experimental evaluation on relevant repository data demonstrates effectiveness of our approach on examples of different motifs of interests. © 2019 Eurographics Association.

Increasing numbers of higher education institutions see themselves as service providers, catering primarily to the needs of its students. The improvement of student performance is a top priority for universities. It is critical to first assess the present situation of the students before designing a program to improve their performance. Higher education administrators face a significant problem in predicting a student's future success. The goal of this study is to learn what factors influence college students' decision on a major. It will be possible to forecast students' behavior, attitudes, and performance with the use of predictive tools and procedures. Predicting student performance ahead of time makes it possible to take proactive measures to raise achievement levels. To obtain a high education standard, several attempts have been made to forecast student performance. However the accuracy of these predictions falls short of the desired level of excellence. Machine learning approaches including Artificial Neural Network, Nave Bayes, and SVM are being studied. A University Data Set from UCI Machinery is used in the experimental investigation.

Autonomous robots possess the capacity to enhance productivity, reduce expenses, and enhance safety in various scenarios, as emphasized in the literature. The report also outlines potential avenues for future research, which encompass the development of enhanced sensors and perceptual systems, collaborative systems, and advanced decision-making algorithms. In general, this study constitutes a crucial contribution to the expanding corpus of information pertaining to self-governing robots and will facilitate their prospective conception, advancement, and integration.

Early diagnosis of the disease helps the patients to get through the disease. Diagnosis of medical datasets are carried out by different machine learning approaches. In this paper, Velocity Enhanced Whale Optimization Algorithm (VEWOA) is taken as classification algorithm to predict three different varieties of medical datasets like Heart disease, Echocardiogram and Hepatitis and then compared with Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA). The classification accuracy of VEWOA-NN is 97.2 percentage in heart disease dataset, 96 percentage in echo-cardiogram dataset and 92.5 percentage in Hepatitis dataset. The performance validation is done with the help of Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and time.
