The aim of tool path planning is to maximize the efficiency against some given precision criteria. In practice, scallop height should be kept constant to avoid unnecessary cutting, while the tool path should be smooth enough to maintain a high feed rate. However, iso-scallop and smoothness often conflict with each other. Existing methods smooth iso-scallop paths one-by-one, which makes the final tool path far from being globally optimal. This paper proposes a new framework for tool path optimization. It views a family of iso-level curves of a scalar function defined over the surface as tool path so that desired tool path can be generated by finding the function that minimizes certain energy functional and different objectives can be considered simultaneously. We use the framework to plan globally optimal tool path with respect to iso-scallop and smoothness. The energy functionals for planning iso-scallop, smoothness, and optimal tool path are respectively derived, and the path topology is studied too. Architectural models have always played an important role in computer graphics, virtual environments, and urban planning; due to the size, detail and complexity of such models. Creating detailed and realistic buildings needs time and extensive coding as well as significant domain expertise. Observing the content creation problem and the challenges of procedural modeling, we identified and developed a generalized proceduralization framework, that converts existing 3D urban models into an easy to manipulate procedural form. Our proceduralization framework for urban spaces allows re-use of existing models in various formats by first conducting shape processing methods to find and exploit the repetitions and similarities to reveal the hidden high-level structural information, and then by using grammar discovery methods on those components to extract a representative grammar of the model. Additionally, we have proposed applications of such procedural representations, including completion of point cloud models and structure-aware synthesis tools for procedural editing.

A research team comprised of students and faculty from Central Connecticut State University's (CCSU) School of Engineering, science, and technology has begun the design, production, and testing of a full-scale helicopter flight simulator with a moving platform. This paper presents the redesign of the control electronics for the platform. The hardware design includes a high-power circuit and a low-power microcontroller board. Both boards respond to the commands sent by flight simulator software X-plane ® to simulate helicopter flight. The purposes for conducting this research include: i) to build a fully functional flight simulator that can be used as a test bed for students research projects;ii) to encourage students and faculty members to use a clear design process in the design of hardware and software components to build a cost-effective flight simulator;iii) to provide students with hands-on experience on how to design and y a helicopter. CCSU students have built all of the mechanical systems. The basic design weflight for the simulator is 300 lbs force applied to the pilot seat. The structures are designed to have enough strength to sustain a maximum of 3g and a minimum -1g flight conditions. There are three actuators in place that can be used to rotate the platform in the pitching, rolling, and yawing directions. The electrical control system was redesigned, fabricated, and assembled by CCSU students. 80% of the sensors and actuators that comprise the simulator are now interfaced by CCSU student designed electronics. The electrical systems consist of a microcontroller board, three high-power H-bridge circuits, AC/DC power supplies, and three actuators. © 2017 by David J. Visual and Hearing impairments are the one of the major cause for accidents. In this paper we discuss the major impacts of Visual and Hearing Impact while driving and the remedies that can be used to provide the solution to the Problem. Impairment can be defined as the abnormality or mis-functionality of a physical body or a system. We discuss the types of disease that are affecting both vision and hearing impairment and the types of exercises that are required to overcome these diseases empowering Cognitive Abilities. Yoga plays a major in improving the strength of Visual and Hearing impairments, so we discuss the exercises that are required to improve the impairments.

Presented paper deals with the topic of preventive maintenance of an power equipment of typical agricultural enterprises. A decision support method was designed, incorporating the analysis of annual schedules of load diagrams of the typical agricultural enterprises and the planning of preventive maintenance of the power equipment with month priority during which maximal consumption of electric energy take place. The correction of typical load diagrams on the basis of the fact sheet about electric loading of the consumer is possible. The designed method optimizes maintenance costs without supplementary investment and running costs. An algorithm of the designed method is offered and a case study of its implementation is described in the paper.

Continuous global optimization in surface reconstruction from an oriented point cloud

We introduce a continuous global optimization method to the field of surface reconstruction from discrete noisy cloud of points with weak information on orientation. The proposed method uses an energy functional combining flux-based data-fit measures and a regularization term. A continuous convex relaxation scheme assures the global minima of the geometric surface functional. The reconstructed surface is implicitly represented by the binary segmentation of vertices of a 3D uniform grid and a triangulated surface can be obtained by extracting an appropriate isosurface. Unlike the discrete graph-cut solution, the continuous global optimization entails advantages like memory requirements, reduction of metrication errors for geometric quantities, allowing globally optimal surface reconstruction at higher grid resolutions. We demonstrate the performance of the proposed method on several oriented point clouds captured by laser scanners. Experimental results confirm that our approach is robust to noise, large holes and non-uniform sampling density under the condition of very coarse orientation information. Knowledge of whole heart anatomy is a prerequisite for many clinical applications. Whole heart segmentation (WHS), which delineates substructures of the heart, can be very valuable for modeling and analysis of the anatomy and functions of the heart. However, automating this segmentation can be arduous due to the large variation of the heart shape, and different image qualities of the clinical data. To achieve this goal, a set of training data is generally needed for constructing priors or for training. In addition, it is difficult to perform comparisons between different methods, largely due to differences in the datasets and evaluation metrics used. This manuscript presents the methodologies and evaluation results for the WHS algorithms selected from the submissions to the Multi-Modality Whole Heart Segmentation (MM-WHS) challenge, in conjunction with MICCAI 2017. The challenge provides 120 three-dimensional cardiac images covering the whole heart, including 60 CT and 60 MRI volumes, all acquired in clinical environments with manual delineation. Ten algorithms for CT data and eleven algorithms for MRI data, submitted from twelve groups, have been evaluated. The results show that many of the deep learning (DL) based methods achieved high accuracy, even though the number of training datasets were limited. A number of them also reported poor results in the blinded evaluation, probably due to overfitting in their training. The conventional algorithms, mainly based on multi-atlas segmentation, demonstrated robust and stable performance, even though the accuracy is not as good as the best DL method in CT segmentation. The challenge, including provision of the annotated training data and the blinded evaluation for submitted algorithms on the test data, continues as an ongoing benchmarking resource via its homepage (***/zhuangxiahai/0/mmwhs/). This paper explores multimedia principles for a visuohaptic simulation-based approach to improve students' understanding of electricity and magnetism concepts. The study implemented different multimedia principles for incorporating visuohaptic simulations for learning guided by Multimedia Learning Theory. This study compared the use of visuohaptic simulations to a visual-only simulation and to instructional multimedia-only materials. The results indicated that students in the visuohaptic simulation group out-performed students in the visual-only simulation group and the instructional multimedia-only group;although not significantly. This paper discusses implications for teaching and learning with touch technologies. © 2018 American Society for Engineering Education. All rights reserved.

Cloud computing is also called as internet -based computing. Cloud computing is one of the distributed computing system. Its main principle is, to use the resources optimally for achieving higher efficiency. Cloud computing is mainly used to solve vast scale issues. IT assets gave by cloud system, then again, are devoted to providing back-end preparing abilities and client based access to these capabilities. In cloud computing technology, clients lease the resources and only pay for what they use. Cloud computing users should be particular while choosing cloud service providers. Main advantage of cloud computing is “agility”. Scheduling of resources is one of the tough problem in cloud computing. The main task of Scheduling is, to assign the resources for the user request, so that the task can be finished in minimum time. In this paper Multiple Artificial Neural Network (MANN) is used for allocating the resources for the user requests. Thus with the help of Multiple Artificial Neural Network, scheduling of resources in cloud computing can be improved.

Surface reconstruction with higher-order smoothness

This work proposes a method to reconstruct surfaces with higher-order smoothness from noisy 3D measurements. The reconstructed surface is implicitly represented by the zero level-set of a continuous valued embedding function. The key idea is to find a function whose higher-order derivatives are regularized and whose gradient is best aligned with a vector field defined by the input point set. In contrast to methods based on the first-order variation of the function that are biased towards the constant functions and treat the extraction of the isosurface without aliasing artifacts as an afterthought, we impose higher-order smoothness directly on the embedding function. After solving a convex optimization problem with a multi-scale iterative scheme, a triangulated surface can be extracted using the marching cubes algorithm. We demonstrated the proposed method on several data sets obtained from raw laser-scanners and multi-view stereo approaches. Experimental results confirm that our approach allows us to reconstruct smooth surfaces from points in the presence of noise, outliers, large missing parts and very coarse orientation information.
