Exact solutions of the Routing, Modulation, and Spectrum Allocation (RMSA) problem in Elastic Optical Networks (EONs), so that the number of admitted demands is maximized while those of regenerators and frequency slots used are minimized, require a complex ILP formulation taking into account frequency-slot continuity and contiguity. We introduce the first such formulation, ending a hiatus of some years since the last ILP formulation for a much simpler RMSA variation was introduced. By exploiting a number of problem and solver specificities, we use the NSFNET topology to illustrate the practicality and importance of obtaining exact solutions. © 2019 IEEE.

In an era where technology is advancing at an unprecedented rate, the internet has become an indispensable tool for everyday life, offering both convenience and efficiency. While the internet has simplified tasks ranging from communication to information retrieval, it also poses significant challenges in the realm of cyber security. Users are not just potential victims but can also become unwitting perpetrators of cybercrimes. This highlights the urgent need for cyber security awareness among the general populace. Focusing on Indonesia, a nation where cyber security education is still in its infancy, this study aims to assess the level of public awareness regarding the specific threat of phishing. Employing the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology, this research analyzes a comprehensive range of literature encompassing subjects such as phishing, data leakage, broader cyber security threats, and the current state of public awareness about phishing. The objective is to provide a detailed overview of existing knowledge and identify areas where educational efforts should be concentrated. The results indicate a considerable gap in the understanding of phishing among Indonesians. Many studies reviewed did not offer a clear definition or explanation of phishing, creating an environment where individuals are more susceptible to these cyber-attacks. This research underscores the urgent need for targeted educational initiatives aimed at increasing public awareness and understanding of phishing and other cyber threats. © 2023 IEEE.

Digital tourism village potentially accelerates rural development hence improving a country's economy. The Indonesian government has developed hundreds of tourism villages in recent years but has yet to popularize the development of digital villages. Technology design and development are pivotal factors in tourism villages' digitalization. Therefore, the development digital tourism village must consider village readiness by measuring technology adoption readiness or technology acceptance of the corresponding stakeholders. This paper presents the technology acceptance analysis in the context of a digital tourism village. We use a quantitative analysis approach using the TAM-UTAUT model with data collected from a questionnaire of 101 villagers (n=101) in Pasanggrahan Village, West Java, Indonesia. This research uses machine learning with clustering procedures to analyze the level of technology adoption readiness by implementing K-means Clustering algorithm. In addition, to observe the significance of each influencing factor to the technology adoption readiness level, feature importance analysis approach using Extra tree classifier algorithm is employed. The research finds that attitude toward use, perceived ease of use, and facilitating condition-have a considerable impact on the degree of readiness for technology adoption. On the other hand, the perceived utility and social impact are found to have minimal bearing on the preparedness level for technology adoption. Perceived ease of use and facilitating conditions are the most important factors to afford the acceleration of technology adoption readiness. The research contributes to the development of a digital tourism village and the analysis of technology adoption readiness using machine learning. © 2024 IEEE.

Gastrointestinal diseases are significant health concerns that mostly affect the digestive and biliary tracts. These can only be observed internally through endoscopy, or a modern approach named Wireless Capsule Endoscopy. Though the approach has proven to work, the process relies heavily on medical experts, which is prone to error when given a considerably large load. The use of deep learning in detecting diseases with images has been proven to work in various cases and can be implemented for gastrointestinal diseases. This study compared four deep learning models based on Convolutional Neural Network architectures consisting of the VGG16, ResNet152V2, InceptionV3, and Xception for classifying colon disease images. The experiment showed that the ResNet152V2 performed the best, compared to the other three with a testing accuracy score of 0.9837. On the other hand, the VGG16 had the lowest performance with around accuracy score of 0.89 while the Xception and InceptionV3models yielded similar accuracy scores of 0.9587 and 0.9549, respectively. The results highlight the effectiveness of ResNet152V2 in handling the complexity of colon disease detection © 2024 IEEE.

Smart city platforms manage resources and information to offer services to citizens. Developing technological solutions for this scenario is not trivial, given data and resource heterogeneity and the need for platform flexibility and adaptability. This work presents UFCity, a software architecture for smart city data ecosystems using microservices, artificial intelligence, and a three-layer networking structure. As a proof of concept, we developed a prototype and tested it in usage scenarios with real data. These use cases explored how our solution solves identified problems, showing meeting essential requirements for smart city platforms. In this way, UFCity is an alternative for data management in a smart city, presenting advantages over other solutions listed in this work in meeting the platform requirements. © 2023 IEEE.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurobiological developmental disorder that affects communication and social interaction. Autistic children often have difficulty communicating effectively, both verbally and nonverbally. Good verbal and nonverbal communication skills help children with autism participate in social interactions. In this paper, we present a systematic literature review focused on analyzing AR/VR/Mixed reality technologies used to improve communication skills in children with ASD based on research published over the last ten years and available in relevant scientific databases. We reviewed 22 studies showing target area communication, how AR/VR/Mixed reality is used in the context of communication skills in ASD children, user experience and accessibility, technology limitations, and findings. This systematic review of the literature shows that the majority of the communication areas targeted are verbal and nonverbal simultaneously. Overall, the use of AR/VR/Mixed reality can be an alternative to improve children’s communication. Technologies that can facilitate the different abilities and emotions of children with ASD are considered in developing AR/VR/Mixed reality in the future. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

In educational institutions, an educator is responsible for assessing the student's knowledge grasp through examination. Creating exam questions, even the low-level factoid questions, is time-consuming, especially for inexperienced educators. Therefore, this study aims to create a sequence-to-sequence model using CopyNet by exploiting its copying mechanism advantage to automatically generate Bahasa Indonesia factoid questions to ease the educator's burden. Indonesian records in the TyDi QA dataset are used as the model input. GRU and Bi-GRU are employed as the CopyNet encoder, while LSTM is used as the CopyNet decoder. The model that utilizes GRU as the encoder achieves BLEU1, BLEU2, BLEU3, BLEU4, and ROUGE-L scores of 0.28, 0.19, 0.14, 0.1, and 0.32, respectively. Bi-GRU utilization as the model encoder achieves BLEU1, BLEU2, BLEU3, BLEU4, and ROUGE-L scores of 0.26, 0.17, 0.12, 0.09, and 0.30, respectively. Models using either encoder still achieve low scores. However, compared with the previous work, the result is still on par regarding the BLEU score. Further examination found that the generated questions do not adhere to semantic and syntactical correctness. Adding more records to the dataset and utilizing a more advanced architecture like CopyBERT are encouraged to improve the model performance in future work. Despite the result, this study has shown that CopyNet, primarily designed for text summarization or single-turn dialogue, can be tailored for factoid question generation. © 2024 The Authors.

Despite their drawbacks, multiple-choice questions (MCQ) have been widely used to assess the students' understanding of lectures through examinations. The development of automatic MCQ generation is beneficial, especially for educators. As a starting point for further development, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is conducted to uncover current trends, future challenges, and opportunities in automatic MCQ generation. Previously, an SLR was conducted, but it lacks coverage of the utilization of transformer-based models. This SLR covers the development of automatic MCQ generation using either traditional or advanced approaches such as Transformers. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses framework was used to gather the data from Scopus, IEEE Xplore, SpringerLink, arXiv, and Semantic Scholar. The included articles must be open-access computer science conference papers or journal articles and written in English less than five years ago. Four independent reviewers analyzed the research workflow, evaluation metric, and dataset used in each study. There are 18 included studies, where 17% (n = 3) studies are from 2024, 33% (n = 6) studies are from 2023, 22% (n = 4) studies are from 2022, 11% (n = 2) studies are from 2021, and 17% (n = 3) studies are from 2020. There are 33% (n = 6) of the studies used the traditional feature-based engineering approach, 39% (n = 7) of the studies used the Transformer-based model fine-tuning approach, and the remaining used novel approaches. The study found that BERT variants are the most utilized Transformer-based model in automatic MCQ. The research notes some challenges, but also open various opportunities for further research, including Large Language Model (LLM) utilization for automatic MCQ generation, the utilization BERT-based models for standardized machine-learned evaluation metrics, and the initiative for the creation of an MCQ dataset benchmark. © 2024 IEEE.

Basketball is a very dynamic game where the movements the players make can be fast and subtle, yet fine-grained. As such the difference between an event occurring and not occurring can be small and occasionally unnoticeable, and the sequence of frames of which the dribble is done matters tremendously in order to determine whether a violation takes place. As such, a spatio-temporal action verification model is needed to assist referees in making decisions, as it is almost instantaneous in nature. The challenge is to achieve balance between speed and accuracy, since the violation detection has to be fast enough for real-time use. Mediapipe Pose Estimation is chosen for its lightweight nature and capability for human joint feature extraction, and YOLO is trained to detect and extract basketball coordinates and person in order to pinpoint a region of interest for Mediapipe Pose Estimation in the case of failure to detect a player. The raw dataset consists of videos of basketball players dribbling properly and committing a travelling violation. Long Short- Term Memory (LSTM) is used to model the temporal dynamics of the movements the players make, in the form of a binary classification as to whether the violation occurs. Fine-tuning is done on various hyperparameters of the LSTM model, such as the batch size, layers, number of units, optimizer, dropout rate, loss function, etc. Stacked LSTM architecture is found to be the most suitable model, at an accuracy of 0.8690. The resulting pipeline manages to run at least 10 FPS, with enough overhead to theoretically achieve a higher framerate, after various methods of optimizations. © 2023 IEEE.

As one of the cancer types with the highest incidence rates, colorectal cancer (CRC) would benefit from treatments with fewer side effects and reduced treatment-resistant potential. One of the options is to harness the anti-CRC potential of natural products. Previous studies have shown that Calamus draco exudate, dragon's blood, has anticancer activity in liver cancer and acute myeloid leukemia, but its bioactivity has not been studied in CRC. Here we conduct a bioinformatics study based on network pharmacology to explore the anti-CRC potential and mechanism of C. draco-derived compounds. The bioinformatics pipeline is composed of compound and target collection, biological network evaluation, and enrichment analysis. We found that there are 43 bioactive compounds from C. draco targeting 91 CRC-related targets, of which most compounds target MEN1, PTGS2, and IDH1. Further analyses show that the targets of C. draco are involved in the cellular response to hypoxia. By inhibiting those targets, C. draco bioactive compounds can potentially hinder angiogenesis and increase treatment response efficacy. © 2024 The Authors.
