With the increasing diversity in networked information communication technology (ICTs), the question arises whether users' social, entertainment and information needs are being met. existing research on Internet information services and traditional portal or blog sites has not been extended to a more recent study of functional community websites such as Facebook. Therefore, this study was designed to administer a questionnaire survey in order to explore the motivation of taiwan Facebook users of ICT's by analyzing their Facebook use. The study concluded that: (1) Facebook users were attracted to Facebook mainly by social motivations, though some were attracted by the Facebook game simulation of "Farmville", highly publicized in the media. A study of background variables further found that female users who had low education level and low age were more likely motivated by the gaming platform;male users who had low education level and a higher age were likely attracted by both a high degree of social interaction and high use of game-playing;(2) Facebook users were online more often, but for most there was no significant increase in the total number of hours online;(3) Facebook users who were motivated by both game play and social interaction do actually increase their online time using Facebook. The study indicated that Facebook facilitates increased use of information technology, and further recognizes that the gender of users accounts for significant differences in motivation. The findings of this study will lead to a better understanding of the motivation of taiwan ICT users, specifically taiwan Facebook users. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

It was with great excitement that we planned the combined meetings of Northeast Aquaculture Conference and exposition (NACe) and the International Conference on Shellfish Restoration (ICSR) with the 33rd Milford Aquaculture Seminar (MAS). Bringing these different but complementary audiences together resulted in a meeting that combined many different aspects of fisheries restoration and aquaculture under one *** hundred attendees including government representatives, research scientists, industry, and academia at both the university and vocational high school levels attended this event. The meeting commenced on Wednesday December 12th 2012, with over eighty people attending seven field trips to area aquaculture farms and research facilities. The formal program began on Thursday, December 13th with a plenary session including invited speakers eric Schwabb, Acting Assistant Secretary for Conservation and Management at NOAA; Sebastian Belle, executive Director of the Maine Aquaculture Association and Boze Hancock from the Nature Conservancy, who discussed the role of aquaculture in fisheries restoration. John Bullard, the Northeast Regional Administrator of NOAA Fisheries Service, addressed the group during the luncheon the following day. The technical papers and workshops presented were divided into 35 sessions over three days of the meeting and included topics such as the history of aquaculture, aquaculture hatchery innovations, siting and planning issues, risk management, aquaculture business management, ocean acidification, climate change, as well as aquaculture disease issues and potential remedies. Having persons present who have experienced problems and successes, along with those in manufacturing and government responsible for addressing concerns and sharing best practices, was invaluable. Discussions among this cross-section of persons who represent different aspects of aquaculture were as important as the well-presented and interesting formal papers

This research is about the analysis and design of variable-wheelbase bike. Aiming to the existing folding bike of all kinds, we collect patent communiqué and record information to classify the documents and give analysis of its merit and defect. We find the way of innovative design from the generalizing information. Finally, we choose multiple-linkage mechanism system to change the positions of seat, handle bar and rear wheel, which can also alter the riding position and control ability of user. In order to lower the cost, we reduce the numbers of linkages. This linkages system must be one freedom . Therefore, this research is proceeding the mechanical sustainable synthesizing with this design iuput, and develops a multiple-linkages mechanism system with 8 bares, 10 joints with one freedom to be the construction of bike frame. Then, we synthesizing the dimensions of bike frame by SolidWorks,and stimulating sporting motion and interference by the 3D CAD model, later, evaluate whether the 3D dummy meets the requirements or not. It will also make the CAe to proceed the stress analysis of the bike frame construction with ANSYS11. 0 to make sure the strength and security. Finally, may be we would make a prototype.

Humor has a great influence on students' cognition, emotion and motivation when they're learning. There are many researchers studying how humor can be used in the classroom to increase students' performance, while few researching on how to design a humorous virtual human to better students' learning performance in e-learning environment. In this paper, some humorous strategies were adapted and expressed by virtual human to affect students' learning at proper moments. Preliminary experiment was conducted and the results showed that the virtual human with humorous strategies can ease students' emotions and motivate them.

Studies indicate that making learners feel good is important only minor to clear knowledge transformation. Many studies have tried to use virtual humans as a part of interface in learning systems to increase the effect of instructions. Based on social interaction and pedagogical theories, many e-learning systems use animated films or virtual reality to boost human-computer engagement and ease their negative emotions. However, affective learning systems still need much research to improve their functionalities and usability. This study proposed a convenient approach to develop an emotionally interactive learning system;learners can express their emotions by mouse-clicking while learning. A virtual human was created to empathically react to learners in proactive and reactive ways to encourage and persuade them into persistent learning and help achieve their goals. experimental results show that, averagely, subjects can tell virtual human's emotions and agree to its empathic reactions. Persuasion conducted by virtual human could not increase subjects' learning time, but could significantly increase their completion rate of exercises. Copyright 2009 ACM.

The aim of this paper is to propose an impulsive controller which is to guarantee the asymptotic synchronization of the master and slave chaotic systems. The impulsive controller is derived on the basis of the Lyapunov theory and the linear matrix inequlity (LMI) technique. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the main results. © 2009 Ieee.

The effect of an internet-based, stage-matched message intervention on young taiwanese women's physical activity

A web-based, stage-matched message intervention was designed in order to see the effect on the physical activity of young taiwanese women with regard to several variables. The intervention was guided by the Transtheoretical Model (TTM) and was evaluated using a pre-post-test control group design. One hundred thirty female freshmen, enrolled in a nursing class in a university in Taipei, completed the survey at three different points in time. They were assigned to three groups: an experimental group with stage-matched messages on the website, a generic group with non-stage-matched messages on the website, and a control group that was given only lectures but had no access to the website. Results indicated that the subjects in the stage-matched group improved most in terms of stage-of-exercise and amount of physical activity, followed by the generic group at immediate post-test;meanwhile, the control group had a tendency toward downward change. The effect did not persist, however, for the first two groups. A significantly higher level of exercise self-efficacy was found in the stage-matched group than in the other two groups immediately after the intervention. The results suggested that a website conveying theory-based messages can serve as a useful tool for improving young females' physical activity and exercise self-efficacy. Additionally, we need research that edxplores different degrees and dimensions of tailoring in order to find the optimal degree of audience segmentation.
