Conceptual model of a healthy city learning from the Covid 19 pandemic in Indonesia

The Covid 19 global pandemic has brought changes to many aspects of human life as it spread across the globe. The dramatic and widespread impact of the pandemic has necessitated the revision of many principles regarding the organization of social life, access to health care, public safety and urban planning. The emergence of previous conceptual models of urban planning was motivated by a paradigm shift in urban planning. There have been previous models describing the relationship between cities, the built environment and health. But there is no healthy city planning model that describes infectious diseases such as the Covid 19 phenomenon. Therefore, this paper will formulate a conceptual model of a healthy city learning from the experience of the Covid 19 pandemic. This research uses a mix method research method that combines qualitative and quantitative research. In formulating the concept of healthy cities, learning from the experience of the Covid 19 pandemic, the analysis was carried out in 2 stages, namely: analyzing urban changes due to the impact of the pandemic and analyzing the factors that determine a healthy city. The results of the development of a healthy city conceptual model obtained 4 components in forming a healthy city, namely urban health, urban environment, urban form and healthy urban planning. Healthy urban planning explains the process of forming a healthy city. In urban health there are 18 variables. Learning from the Covid 19 pandemic, health behavior, social integration and support, access to health services, quality of health facilities, social life, sense of community (social capital), primary health system, secondary health system, early warning system, adaptive social protection is a novelty in urban health and its position is very important to create a resilient healthy city in the future. In the current digital era, virtual reality (VR) technology is rapidly expanding across various fields, including education and cultural preservation. This technology offers immersive opportunities to explore and experience architectural spaces, promising increased understanding and learning motivation. Despite being relatively new in Indonesia, the application of VR has shown significant potential for education and cultural preservation through the implementation of a 3D virtual tour in Kampung Adat Pulo Garut. Therefore, this research aimed to develop VR media to enhance users' spatial experience and preserve the cultural values of Kampung Adat Pulo Garut through interactive learning. The method used was Research and Development (R&D) through the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) model. The equipment used was LiDAR Scanner FJD Trion P1 Series, DJI Mavic Air 2S Drone, and Sony A6000 Camera. The method used included aerial and terrestrial mapping, 3D modeling, and the development of virtual environments through Unreal Engine. The developmental process included various stages, namely concept, design, material collection, compilation, testing, and distribution. The result showed an interactive 3D virtual tour of Kampung Adat Pulo Garut, called "Echoes of Tradition." Unreal Engine was found to enable detailed visualization of traditional architecture and village environments with high accuracy and interactivity. The final product offered an immersive learning experience, enriching users' experience, and enabling digital preservation of cultural heritage. The next step, to get an overview of the research results, used a questionnaire as an instrument which was distributed to a total of 250 respondents. Furthermore, the potential implication of VR in education and cultural preservation was identified, guiding similar applications in the future. Purpose - This research is oriented to the need for new ideas related to the concept of a green campus that respond to climate change. The concept is simulated with a campus area in Indonesia, a country that requires a lot of school planning for human resource development that requires clean, renewable energy and zero emissions in a humid tropical climate. Design/methodology/approach - The research was carried out in a mixed qualitative-quantitative method using field observations and literature studies through an approach to developing a pedagogical pattern of cognitive, affective and psychomotor, relevant theoretical studies and comprehensive analysis of all variables and aspects. Analysis through the parameter matrix of green buildings and green campuses to produce a zero emission and energy efficient campus area concept. Findings - The concept of an integrated campus area model that can holistically save energy optimally and free from emissions and can produce graduates who are aware and have high cognitive, affective and psychomotor competencies toward environmental conservation efforts. Green campus design is not only physical design, but needs to be integrated with green curriculum content. Research limitations/implications - The limitation of this research is in the scope of architectural and environmental sciences. Practical implications - The practical implication of this research is a new green campus concept that is environmentally friendly and sustainable in a hot-humid tropical climate. Social implications - This research revives the cognitive, affective and psychomotor competencies of human individuals at the highest level to equip the ability to repair and maintain the environment. The research resulted in a refinement of the green campus concept that was integrated into the curriculum. Originality/value - A holistic and integrated green campus concept between the development of campus area design and human development aspects.

The road of Cisarua - Ngamprah has winding conditions and can result in accidents from a geometric perspective. Some of the reasons are because the radius, visibility, and pavement widening at bends have inappropriate road slopes. This research aims implementation of centrifugal force in the geometric design of road for safety driving Conveniencet at the Cisarua sta. 0+050 - 1+450. This research method uses evaluative and quantitative methods. Data collection is carried out by observing road locations and the agencies responsible for completing geometric traffic data. Data analysis was carried out on centrifugal strength calculation, the highway gradient, arch sharpness calculation, and centrifugal forces implementation on road bends. These actions are lumped through plunging the aftereffect of greater centrifugal force strength. Moreover, this implementation is also able to reduce the chance of accidents due to centrifugal force impacts based on road geometry calculations. Based on the evaluation and implementation of a smaller centrifugal force design, the use of a spiral-circle-spiral bend type with a transition curve can increase safety driving comfort.

A Simple Selection Method of PV Systems for University Campuses

This paper briefly outlines part of the research work being carried out on the application of the photovoltaic systems to cover universities' electrical energy needs, with due consideration to the technical, architectural, economic, social. and legal aspects and impacts of this application. The paper considers optimizing the PV system selection objectives and methodology with a case study application. at a university campus in Ankara, Turkey. The main objective here is to develop a practical simple method of selecting an optimum PV system that gives the maximum energy yield possible in a certain period of one year, with the minimum specific energy cost per kWh, where a multiple-variable multi-criteria decision-making making method is applied, to help designers and system engineers in selecting the optimum system. The developed method is demonstrated in the example of the typical case, where the recommended PV system was turned out to be at an Azmuth angle of 0 degrees, the PV technology was monocrystelline Silicon, the annual electrical energy yield per 100 m2 of PV modules surface area 22.4 MWH/Year, the specific electrical energy cost was 0.15 Euos/Kwh, as a first merit option, making a difference of around 13% of saving compared with the 10th last option. The work concludes that a viable PV application is feasible, encouraging its application in various campuses provided that comprehensive planning and careful considerations are given to the related aspects.

The role of eco-attraction in the intention to conduct low-carbon actions: a study of visitor behavior in urban forests

PurposeOne of the crucial elements of addressing global climate challenges through urban tourism is the continuing existence of urban forests. The reasoning is that the ecological attraction of urban forests can impact visitors' intention to conduct pro-environmental behavior, including low-carbon actions. Thus, more visitors to urban forests will positively affect enhancing the quality of the urban environment. However, the extent to which ecological attraction can influence pro-environmental behavior warrants further investigation due to the complexity of psychosocial factors that impact behavioral intention. The main objective of this research is to examine the effects of the ecological attractiveness of urban forests on the pro-environmental behavior of visitors by exploring motivation, ecological experience, perceived value and knowledge as mediators. Moreover, whether the nature of the urban forest and facilities attract visitors simultaneously is also ***/methodology/approachData were collected from 615 respondents who visited three urban forests in Bandung, the second-most populous city in Indonesia, by five-point Likert questionnaires. As an analytical tool, SEM PLS was applied to establish the effect of the ecological performance of the urban forest on the increase in environmentally conscious behavior among urban forest *** findings demonstrate that the attractiveness of an urban forest affects the growth of environmentally responsible behaviors. Nonetheless, the attractiveness of urban forests is dictated more by their infrastructure than their ecological function. On the contrary, the visitors' knowledge level can improve their motivation, environmental experience and perceived environmental value. These findings show the significance of developing educational programs with an emphasis on the experience of the visitors so that their ecological performance can contribute to improved low-carbon behavior. The objective of this study was to determine the determinants between Community-Based Total Sanitation and the incidence of diarrhea in toddler at communities near rivers. This study used a quantitative approach with cross sectional design. The sample consisted of 76 mothers who have toddler with the sampling technique by accidental sampling. Primary data obtained directly from interviews using questionnaires and direct observation to respondents. The independent variable was Community-Based Total Sanitation which includes the behavior of open defecation, drinking water and food management, household waste management, and household waste water management. The results showed that only household wastewater management was significant with the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers (p value 0,0000;OR 5,2), while, open defecation (p value 0.118), drinking water and household food management (p value 1,000), household waste management (p value 0,979) was not related to the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers. Toddlers in households with poor wastewater treatment were 5,2 times more likely to have diarrhea. The conclusion is household wastewater management was significant with the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers, so that innovative efforts are needed so that the community improves their waste management. This is useful for preventing the occurrence of diarrhea in toddlers. © 2022

Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has a spirit to become a Conservation and International Reputation University is realized through strategic missions. One of the conservation-oriented implementation programs is H-BAT (Green, Clean and Healthy) program. In its implementation, there is a problem, namely the achievement of H-BAT program has not been maximized during the last 3 years in assessment. The objectives of this research are: (1) to identify of the potential and character of environmental support in the work units;(2) to determine the achievement of the indication of a green campus based on the assessment indicators on H-BAT program. This research was carried out in four stages: (1) Data collection;(2) Spatial data processing;(3) Non Spatial data processing;(4) Analysis (ecological, technical standards);The results achieved in June 2020 are as follows: FT got 87,50%, FE got 85,87%, FMIPA got 81,52%, BUHK got79,49%, FIP got 73,91%, LP3 got 69,23%, LP2M got 63,46%, FIS got 60,33%,PPS got 57,07%, FIK got 56,52%, FH got 52,72%, FBS got 49,46%, TIK got 40,38%, BPB got 34,62%, Library got 30,13%, Archive got 17,31%. From these results, it can be seen that there is a lack of maximum achievement due to, among others, the lack of guidance and technical assistance in the management of the unit. So it is necessary to complete governance guidelines and technical assistance that are more intensive in unit governance to achieve the goals of UNNES as a green campus. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Performance Based Design (PBD) makes the design process easier to achieve optimal energy efficiency in office towers. Building performance is impacted by various factors, including decisions related to the shape of the building, its orientation, the building envelope, and the building façade. This study aims to determine the building energy consumption by applying the office building's secondary skin during the hottest season in the hot and climate region. A design solution was obtained by utilizing Sefaira with ASHRAE 90.1 – 2013-based parameters for the building performance analysis application. Building in the hot and humid climate region requires energy for cooling due to the long solar durations. The building facade then is the main architectural element that needs to design properly. Facade design, including the building height, orientation, shadowing, and wall window ratio, define the use of electric devices per square meter. The results showed the building's energy use before the special treatment was 126 kWh/m2/yr from the supposed 79 kWh/m2/yr. The design process that responds to the climate will then influence the building form and massing. It is the initial step for building envelope before requiring mechanical assistance to achieve thermal comfort. The design experiment later takes a 3-m-long balcony for all facades, reduce envelope area with compact form have proven to reduce the building energy use. Those experiments later found able to reduce energy use to 57 kWh/m2/yr or 69 kWh/m2/yr obtained. © The Author(s) 2025.
