Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus (CLE) is a form of lupus that affects the skin and is highly sensitive to ultraviolet (UV) light. UV-B. in particular. can trigger inflammation and apoptosis in CLE patients. making a sunscreen with effective UVB protection crucial. This study evaluates the effectiveness of zinc oxide (ZnO) and titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles in sunscreen. ZnO and TiO2 nanoparticles were prepared using the High Energy Milling method. resulting in particle sizes of 7.77 nm and 4.44 nm. respectively. The creams containing these nanoparticles were tested for physical stability and UV protection. Results showed that the creams were physically stable and provided good UV protection. with ZnO and TiO2 nanoparticles making up 12.60% of the total cream ingredients. resulting in the highest SPF (Sun Protection Factor) value of 62.0 ± 1.37. © 2025 Institute of physics Publishing. This study examined the effect of Zn2+ ion substitution on ZnxMn(1-x) Fe2O4 nanoparticles (x = 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8) towards signal Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR). The co-precipitation method synthesised the nanoparticles at a temperature of 90°C. The X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) results showed a polycrystalline structure with a crystallite size varied from 19.05 nm to 19.77 nm. In addition, as the Zn element increased in the ZnxMn(1-x)Fe2O4 nanoparticles, the degree of crystallinity increased by 21.72%, respectively. The optical properties of the nanoparticles ZnxMn(1-x) Fe2O4 indicate absorbance at wavelengths of 330.36–331.74 nm. The absorbance level increased as the Zn element decreased, resulting a direct optical gap of 3.47 eV and an indirect optical gap of 3.23 eV. The Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR) curve in the SPR biosensor indicated a shift in the reflective angle of the Prism/Au/Air configuration, which is 47.78° on Prisma/Au/nanoparticle of Zn0.8Mn0.2Fe2O4/air by 50.75°, and the prism/Au/nanoparticle of Zn0.2Mn0.8Fe2 O4/air by 51.04°. The substitution of Zn ions in the compound Zn x Mn(1-x)Fe2O4 affects the resulting ATR curve. The shift in the SPR angle is caused by changes in the refractive index in each layer which is influenced by the concentration of each material which has an impact on the absorbance ability and photon reflectance. This research has the potential to continue with the testing of dielectric and magnetic properties, as well as special testing for biological analytes compatible with ZnxMn(1-x)Fe2O4 nanoparticles. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

A remote telescope system has been established at Universitas Nusa Cendana, Kupang. Bosscha Observatory, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), and the physics study program at Universitas Nusa Cendana (Undana) collaborated to develop the system. The ITB-Undana Telescope system has a QSI 616 CCD camera and BV RI Bessel filter attached to a 20-cm (f/10) Schmidt-Cassegrain reflector. Several research and public outreach activities have been conducted using the ITB-Undana remote telescope throughout 2023. When establishing a new astronomical observation site, it is imperative to conduct sky characterization and quality assessment. This process involves measuring night sky brightness and atmospheric extinction coefficients. In May 2023, we observed photometric standard stars using the absolute photometry technique with BV RI Bessel filters. We also utilized the Sky Quality Meter (SQM) to measure night sky brightness over three nights from May 24th to May 26th, 2023, to compare the sky brightness values obtained through the absolute photometry method. Our initial measurement shows a first-order extinction coefficient value ranging from kb′ = 0.269 to 0.520, kv′ = 0.216 to 0.297, kr′ = 0.019 to 0.206, and ki′ = 0.127 to 0.163, for B, V, R, and I filter, respectively. Application of extinction coefficient value in the sky field gives a mean sky brightness value in V bandpass, Vsky = 19.431 ± 0.022, with color index (B - V )sky = 0.492 ± 0.039. These night sky brightness values are suitable for measurements using the SQM. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This research aims to determine the level of numeracy literacy skills of prospective physics teachers. This research uses descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The subjects of this research were prospective physics teachers who took part in waves courses and electromagnetic wave spectrum practicums in the physics education study program at Surabaya State University in 2 classes, with 23 people in each class. The instruments used are 3 test questions that measure literacy skills (finding information, interpreting, evaluating) and 8 questions that measure numeracy skills, namely, numeracy, reasoning, and application. The research data was analyzed quantitatively and descriptively. The results of the research showed that variations in the level of numeracy literacy skills before the atomic spectrum practicum activity were in the basic category, with an average of 49.5% of students having answered correctly as many as 46 students, then they were given treatment by carrying out EM wave practicum, the numeracy literacy abilities of students after being given the treatment were in the category requiring special intervention, there were 5 people, in the basic category there were 10 people, in the advanced category there were 18 people. In the very advanced category, there were 7 people. Overall, students have quite good abilities in finding information, interpreting information, evaluating information, and understanding information, which is in the advanced category with a percentage of correct answers of 74.12%, 72.98%, 72.70%, and 71, respectively. At the same time, the indicators of applying information and reasoning are still in the basic category at 32.46%. So, it can be concluded that students' numeracy literacy skills are quite good. However, several other treatments are still needed to improve literacy and numeracy skills. © 2024 Institute of physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

Potatoes are a food source that is beneficial for humans in various aspects, such as having nutritional and economic value. However, potato plants are susceptible to many diseases. To address this issue, various researchers have suggested methods utilizing machine learning and image processing for automatic disease type detection. This paper introduces a disease detection model for potato leaf images, employing two computer vision techniques: Vision Transformer (ViT) and CoAtNet. The dataset used in this paper consisted of 30,760 augmented images divided into seven classes. The ViT model had a test accuracy of 99.32% and a validation accuracy of99.12%. Meanwhile, the CoAtNEt model had a test accuracy of 99.58 % and a validation accuracy of 99.48 %. These results show that both models can be used in the detection of potato leaf diseases. © 2024 IEEE.

In indoor vertical farming systems, managing dynamic and complex environments poses significant challenges. Traditional control strategies often fall short in adapting to rapid changes in critical parameters such as nutrient levels, climate conditions, and plant health indicators. To address these challenges, this paper presents a novel approach for optimizing indoor vertical farming using Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (DDPG), a reinforcement learning algorithm well-suited for environments with continuous action spaces. Our study focused on the control and monitoring of key parameters, including nutrient levels (pH and EC), climate conditions (temperature, humidity, light, and CO2 levels), and plant health indicators (biomass accumulation and leaf size structure). By defining a comprehensive state and action space, we simulated an indoor farming environment and trained the DDPG model to maximize crop yield and health. © 2024 IEEE.

The motor impairments that stroke patients experience as a primary contributor to death and disability also impact their quality of life. Due to its characteristics as complex muscle signals, the Electromyograph (EMG) signal may be one of the markers in rehabilitation and a substitute that may be used to judge the success of rehabilitation. This study aims to analyze the complexity of EMG signals originating from the flexion of the flexor carpi radialis muscle with various weights indicating the rehabilitation state. It is important to monitor the progress of rehabilitation, and it can be done by using complexity analysis. The complexity of the EMG is examined in this work utilizing entropy measurement, namely Approximate Entropy (ApEn), Sample Entropy (SampEn), and Fuzzy Approximate Entropy (fApEn). We concentrated on the flexor carpi radialis muscle using flexion–extension exercises and varying the weight load. This study’s results indicate differences in the complexity of the EMG signal in the flexor carpi radialis when performing flexion–extension movements. Three differences showed a correlation based on the value of ApEN, SampEn, and fApEn. Complexity Analysis using fApEn showed the best correlation at R = 0.9966, which can be used to evaluate the rehabilitation process. The increase in weight was followed by the increase of the fApEn value, indicating that the value can be used to evaluate the rehabilitation process. The use of complexity analysis of EMG signal from flexion movement in flexor carpi radialis with various weights can be used to indicate the progress in the rehabilitation process. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Perovskite materials have garnered significant attention in the field of solar cell applications due to their highly promising performance. However, the utilization of lead (Pb) as the primary material in perovskite solar cells has been associated to health and environmental hazards. Consequently an alternative material for lead is necessary in order to develop environmentally friendly and high-efficiency solar cells. The reported efficiency value still necessitates further enhancement, indicating that the development of lead-free solar cells requires improvement. Methylammonium tin iodide (MaSnI 3 ), a lead-free perovskite compound, can be utilized as a substitute for lead halide-based solar cells. This substitution is possible since MaSnI 3 is stable, non-toxic, and has a high efficiency. The simulation was conducted by the Solar Cell Capacitance Simulator (SCAPS-1D), employing the AM 1.5G spectrum. The primary objective of this research is to enhance the performance of the hole transport layer materials in order to achieve a high power conversion efficiency (PCE) using MaSnI 3 material. Organic and inorganic HTL such as CuSBS, PEDOT:PSS+WO 3 , Spiro-OMeTAD, P3HT, NiO, Cul, SrCu 2 O 2 and PTAA are required in our simulations. These materials were selected to explore their potential in optimizing device performance due to their distinct properties, such as conductivity, stability, and compatibility with MaSnI3. Regarding HTM performance for device construction, our modelling results indicate that the 100 nm CuSBS 2 layer works better. We have found that by using the configuration of ITO/TIO 2 /MASnI 3 /CuSBS 2 /Au, a PCE of 27.67% with a Voc of 0.97 V can be achieved.

The kidney is a human organ with numerous vital functions, mainly for blood filtration. Damage to the kidneys can be detected from albumin levels in urine, higher levels of albumin in urine indicate the kidney's filtration function is impaired. The latest breakthrough in the medical field is the use of localized sensor plasma resonance (LSPR) in the field of biosensors to detect albumin protein in urine. Using Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) simulation, the lateral size of hexagonal gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) is varied to increase the optimal LSPR. AuNPs are well-known as the most promising material for plasmonic applications. In several studies, the hexagonal geometry was reported to increase the surface area of nanoparticles as well as enhance the LSPR signal. Varying the geometry of the hexagonal AuNPs will affect their sensitivity and optical properties. In this study, the lateral size of the hexagonal AuNPs varied from 10 nm to 60 nm, with a controlled thickness of 30 nm. The absorption graph blue shifts with the peak decreasing until the graph has almost no peak as the lateral size decreases. The lateral size of 40 nm at a thickness of 30 nm was found to have the highest shifting response towards the change of refractive index, indicating good sensitivity for sensors. Simulation of hexagonal AuNPs-based LSPR detection of albumin concentrations of 0.35 –5.71 mM produces a sensitivity of 2.59 nm/mM, equivalent to 245.96 nm/RIU. The competitive performance and ease of detection procedures in real applications show the potential of the hexagonal AuNPs-based LSPR sensor to be further explored in developing alternative albumin detection techniques.
