Ultraviolet (UV) irradiation in biomaterial synthesis is commonly used to do sterilization and to improve the physical characteristics. This study is aimed to study the characteristics of polyvinyl alcohol-Aloe vera (PVA-AV) nanofibers from electrospinning process, that was exposed by UV for 6 h with various power of 8, 10, 15, and 20 W. The physical properties of the fiber were characterized by using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) test, and water absorption test. The SEM images showed that the nanofibers were formed with s homogeneous structure and no bead was observed. The diameter and the thickness of the nanofibers are increased with the increase of the power of UV exposed to the samples. The biggest diameter was 319.60 ± 56.17 nm obtained at UV exposure power of 20 W. The FTIR test result indicated that there was no new chemical bond after the PVA-AV was exposed by UV. Meanwhile, the DSC test showed that the increase of power could increase the melting temperature (Tm) with the highest value of 189.51°C at UV exposure power of 20 W. The water absorption test showed that the highest water absorption was 739.6 % obtained at UV exposure power of 20 W. © 2020 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

We report the direct evidence of impacts of the Coulomb interaction in a prototypical Weyl semimetal, MoTe2, that alter its bare bands in a wide range of energy and momentum. Our quasiparticle interference patterns measured using scanning tunneling microscopy are shown to match the joint density of states of quasiparticle energy bands including momentum-dependent self-energy corrections, while electronic energy bands based on the other simpler local approximations of the Coulomb interaction fail to explain neither the correct number of quasiparticle pockets nor the shape of their dispersions observed in our spectrum. With this, we predict a transition between type-I and type-II Weyl fermions with doping and resolve its disparate quantum oscillation experiments, thus highlighting the critical roles of Coulomb interactions in layered Weyl semimetals.

Increasingly limited residential land in urban areas results in residents looking for and making settlements around landfills. This affects people's lives in fulfilling their daily needs, clean water. To meet the demand for clean water, some residents use well water as the primary drinking water source. Judging from the condition of the residential areas located in the landfill area, there may be an effect of waste, especially liquid waste, on well water sources. For this reason, research is carried out using the geoelectric method by combining two configurations, namely Schlumberger and dipole-dipole. So that it can provide an overview of the boundaries of liquid waste contaminants in the soil, which are associated with conductive fluids that affect the quality of clean water from residential areas around the landfill. In this study, it was found that the fluid flow associated with liquid waste has a lateral movement to the right with a depth of 24.5 meters.

The platoon system is applied to an autonomous truck trailer. The control is designed for platoon longitudinal speed control using the backstepping integrator method with the control objective is to make the position error and speed error between the leader and follower are stable and converge to zero. The simulation results show the platoon controller accomplishes the required objective. Even when the velocity of the leader is accelerated or slowed down, the followers are still able to keep pace with the leader and to retain the desired distance relative to the leader. © 2019 IEEE.

This case report investigates the preventive effect of Tinospora cordifolia extract on biocorrosion induced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa on mild steel API 5L in the simulated seawater medium. Electrochemical techniques, spectroscopic techniques, and surface analysis were employed to investigate biocide performance and corrosion behavior. P. aeruginosa has been shown to enhance iron dissolution in seawater medium. These findings point to the role of P. aeruginosa bacteria in forming differential oxygen, which causes corrosion. Morphology results from atomic Fourier microscopy (AFM) highlight the presence of P. aeruginosa in biotic environments, where the surface is rougher than in abiotic conditions. On the other hand, adding T. cordifolia to the biotic medium resulted in a smoother and more homogeneous surface without any significant deterioration. Electrochemical findings reveal that adding 300 mg L⁻¹ of T. cordifolia extract prevents the microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) of steel API 5L, with an optimum effectiveness value of 74.50 % after 21 days of incubation. This protective effect is caused by forming a more compact iron oxide surface layer and the adsorption of phenolic active compounds such as Moupinamide and others on the surface of mild steel API 5L, as detected by liquid chromatography-mass/spectrometry-mass spectrometry (LCMS-MS), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) techniques. © 2024 The Authors

We report a density-functional coupled with vibrational calculation on justifying the isomerization pathway of cyclopropene to propyne. The idea is to present the pathway in energy level diagram which the transition state is ensured by tracking a particular mode that supports the cyclic bond breaking and triple bond formation to occur. This mode decreases along the pathway and disappears at the transition state. To verify the designed pathway, the activation energy of the isomerization is used to find the rate constant with respect to experimental data at 500 K and 700 K by using transition state theory (TST). At those temperatures, TST predicts the rate constant at the same order of magnitude with the experimental result. It shows that the trend between calculation and experimental data is qualitatively in a good agreement, which implies that the designed pathway is justified. Furthermore, this study can be used as a guide if one needs to construct an isomerization pathway. © 2020 IOP Publishing Ltd. All rights reserved.

Identification of magnetite nanoparticles synthesized from natural iron sand with a chemical treatment that is by using thecoprecipitation method on temperature and heated spaces, using a pair of acids and bases, i.e. HCL as a solvent NH4OH and as its precipation. The Crystal structure, the percentage of elements, the particle size and properties of the magnetism material characterization by XRD, XRF identification testing, and permagraph. From the results obtained in the Analysis that the value of the percentage purity of Fe3O4 are derived from Natural Sands before Extraction is of 81.42%, and once on extract 86.73% increase to its purity. From the results of the analysis of properties of ferrite magnet to Fe3O4from sand iron retrieved the value of Saturation Magnetization (Ms) produced amounted to 0.29 T, or residual magnetization Remanence (Br) of 0081 T, and Coercivityy(Hc) amounted to 1.82 kA/m expected data analysis results may explain the comparison characteristics in structure and magnetic properties of material with a natural sand Fe3O4 Aldrich so it can be an additional related information value added (added value) the local SDA. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

We present high angular resolution measurements of the thermal Sunyaev–Zel’dovich effect (SZE) toward two galaxy clusters, RCS J2319+0038 at z = 0.9 and HSC J0947−0119 at z = 1.1, by the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) in Band 3. They are supplemented with available Chandra X-ray data, optical data taken by Hyper Suprime-Cam on Subaru, and millimeter-wave SZE data from the Atacama Cosmology Telescope. Taking into account departures from spherical symmetry, we have reconstructed non-parametrically the inner pressure profile of two clusters as well as electron temperature and density profiles for RCS J2319+0038. This is one of the first such measurements for an individual cluster at z 0.9. We find that the inner pressure profile of both clusters is much shallower than that of local cool-core clusters. Our results consistently suggest that RCS J2319+0038 hosts a weak cool core, where radiative cooling is less significant than in local cool cores. On the other hand, HSC J0947−0119 exhibits an even shallower pressure profile than RCS J2319+0038 and is more likely to be a non-cool-core cluster. The SZE centroid position is offset by more than 140 h−170 kpc from the peaks of galaxy distribution in HSC J0947−0119, suggesting a stronger influence of mergers in this cluster. We conclude that these distant clusters are at a very early stage of developing the cool cores typically found in clusters at lower redshifts. © The Author(s) 2023. Significant population and economic growth, caused increasing of energy demand. Depletion of fossil fuel moreover coupled by climate change issue that caused by increasing carbon emission, become necessity to continuously encourage achieving renewable energy mix in energy primer. Large potentials of hydro renewable energy source and small utilization of it, micro-hydro and pico-hydro power plant are suitable to develop especially in country side. The research gap in the current turbine application chart is a challenge for Gravitational Water Vortex Power Plant (GWVPP) strong existence in pico-hydro power, besides conventional turbine design has been developed into it. However, development in vortex flow and basin geometry design has a robust design for the past 10 years of research. Researches have been conducted in few countries that proofed GWVPP has less capital investment and low operational and maintenance cost, however the parameter of the GWVPP still need further development since the power output efficiency still low. Since basin opening and outlet diameter are the main parameters to define basin geometry, inlet channel need to do further research. The research will improve the recent gaps;therefore, vortex turbine could be developed accordingly that would result immediate improvements for renewable energy growth in Indonesia through GWVPP. © 2020 IEEE.
