Quantum tunneling phenomenon allows a high-barrier reaction to occur even though thermal energy is not sufficient to surmount the barrier. The phenomenon has been suggested to exist in the isomerization of methylhydroxycarbene which occured at 11 K. Here we study the quantum tunneling that occured in the isomerization of methylhydroxycarbene to acetaldehyde and to vinyl alcohol based on density functional calculations. The isomerization pathways are determined under the effect of various solvents which are modeled by polarizable continuum model (PCM). We use Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin (WKB) approximation to calculate the tunneling probability (T) and extend the usefulness of T into isomerization rate. The results show that the solvents give a significant effect on the isomerization rate of methylhydroxycarbene to acetaldehyde but an insignificant one on the isomerization rate to vinyl alcohol. © 2020 IOP Publishing Ltd. Bedrock identification using resistivity method at campus II of Universitas Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh

Research of resistivity method at campus II Universitas Syiah Kuala has been conducted with the SuperSting 68 instrument. There were three lines, each 330 meters long with a spacing of 6 meters. The purpose of the research was to determine the depth of the bedrock at campus II of Universitas Syiah Kuala. The results showed that there was a conductive and resistive coating with a resistivity value of between 2–1250 Ωm. The rock types were composed of water-saturated rocks, Tuffs sandstone, and andesite. The supposed bedrock rock is an andesite rock with a resistivity of 170-1250 Ωm with good density. In conclusion, the separation between the sediment and the bedrock was visible at a depth of up 10 meters across the measuring track.

Root canal treatment failures generally caused by microorganisms that have ability to invade dentinal tubules. Chlorhexidine is widely known to effectively eradicate broad spectrum bacteria that infected dentinal tubules. The delivery of chlorhexidine to the infected site of root canal still becomes an issue. In order to increase the stability and to regulate the release of chlorhexidine, encapsulation of chlorhexidine digluconate was conducted by employing nanocellulose and alginate nanocomposites. Nanocellulose was prepared from palm kernel cake using acid hydrolysis method. Transmission electron microscopy images showed the formation of whisker and fiber nanocellulose with the average diameter of 20 nm. Resulting nanocellulose was combined with alginate in the presence of Ca2+ crosslinker. Scanning electron microscopy images displayed sphere and oval morphologies of microcapsules with diameter of 500 nm. The microcapsules were further loaded with chlorhexidine digluconate 2% (w/v). In vitro drug release properties were evaluated in PBS at pH 7.4 (normal tooth environment) and at pH 5.5 (infected tooth environment). The UV-VIS results showed that chlorhexidine digluconate has higher release rate at pH 5.5 than at pH 7.4, suggesting that the microcapsule is a good candidate for the delivery of chlorhexidine digluconate to the infected root canal tooth environment. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The effect of lard concentration and ozonation on changes in polarization angle of olive oil

This research aims to analyze the effect of ozone exposure time and lard mixture on the polarization angle of transmission of olive oil. The study uses a transmission polarization method with a laser (λ = 532 nm) as a light source. The research sample in the form of olive oil mixed with lard at a concentration of 10, 20, 40, and 80%, with an ozone exposure time of 0-30 minutes. The sample is subjected to external electric fields with variations from 0-4.5 x 102 kV/m to increase the change's polarization angle. The results showed that the change in polarization angle would change linearly with the increase in lard concentration with olive oil. Olive oil with a low concentration of lard (10%) experienced an increase in the change in polarization angle with a value of 0.31 ° due to the effect of 90 minutes of ozone exposure. In general, the results of the study showed that increased concentrations of lard, ozone exposure time, electric field strengths caused an increase in changes in the polarization angle in a mixture of olive oil and lard.

Computer Laboratory of the University of Technology Sumbawa still does not have a Data Center, in the process of learning and teaching experiencing several obstacles one of which is the difficulty in sharing files between computers. The research objective is to build a Data Center at the Computer Laboratory of the University of Technology Sumbawa with the aim of facilitating practicum participants in sharing files between computer system devices. The method used in this research is the network development method Prepare, Plan, design, Implement, Operate, Optimize (PPDIOO). The results of NAS tests on different devices give results that are file access connections via wireless and LAN can run well and by producing Data Centers at the Computer Laboratory of the University of Technology Sumbawa can facilitate the process of storing cheap and efficient data.

The research objective of this is to see how to apply science practicum online using Microsoft Teams and Learning Management System (LMS). The form of this research is classroom action research which aims to apply the online science practicum during the Covid 19 pandemic. Therefore, it is carried out using two cycles in the application of online science practicum. The subjects of this study were students of the seventh semester in the Natural Science practicum course. Through observation and evaluation, it is shown that in the cycle I the percentage of practicum implementation which includes aspects of preparation, process and data and practicum results is 87.5%, in cycle II it has increased to 92.5%. In the assessment aspect of the practicum report, the average practicum assessment obtained in the first cycle was 3.09 from the highest score of 4 and in the second cycle was 3.7, while the aspect of student knowledge about the use of the Microsoft team which was taken using google form was 93%. In the aspect of student knowledge about the use of Learning Management System (LMS) by 75% and aspects of student understanding in the implementation of online science practicum using Microsoft Teams by 75%.

MnBi2Te4 (MBT) is the first intrinsic magnetic topological insulator with the interaction of spin-momentum locked surface electrons and intrinsic magnetism, and it exhibits novel magnetic and topological phenomena. Recent studies suggested that the interaction of electrons and magnetism can be affected by the Mn-doped Bi2Te3 phase at the surface due to inevitable structural defects. Here we report an observation of nonreciprocal transport, i.e. current-direction-dependent resistance, in a bilayer composed of antiferromagnetic MBT and nonmagnetic Pt. The emergence of the nonreciprocal response below the Néel temperature confirms a correlation between nonreciprocity and intrinsic magnetism in the surface state of MBT. The angular dependence of the nonreciprocal transport indicates that nonreciprocal response originates from the asymmetry scattering of electrons at the surface of MBT mediated by magnon. Our work provides an insight into nonreciprocity arising from the correlation between magnetism and Dirac surface electrons in intrinsic magnetic topological insulators. © 2022, CC BY.

Electrospinning technique is a method to produce nanofiber with high potential difference. Several main parameters in the electrospinning process are solution parameter, such as viscosity, surface tension and conductivity. Those parameters affect the morphology of nanofiber membrane produced by the electrospinning process. This study used 10% PVA in aquadest with several Aloe vera concentration (0, 2.5, 5, 7.5 and 10 % w/v). The viscosity of the solution increased when the concentration of the Aloe vera increased. SEM image of the nanofiber membrane showed that the diameter of the nanofiber increased with the increase of the Aloe vera concentration, with the highest diameter of 379.80 nm on the membrane with Aloe vera concentration of 10% w/v. The result of DSC test showed that there were shifts on the glass transition (Tg) and melting point (Tm) value along with the addition of Aloe vera in the PVA solution. This results was also emphasized with the result of FTIR test which showed the shift on the wavenumber absorbance due to the crosslinking between PVA and Aloe vera. The degradation test indicated that the presence of crosslinking could maintain the nanofiber structure, thus the membrane was not easily degraded. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Transport properties of porous media are intimately linked to their pore-space microstructures. We quantify geometrical and topological descriptors of the pore space of certain disordered and ordered distributions of spheres, including pore-size functions and the critical pore radius δc. We focus on models of porous media derived from maximally random jammed sphere packings, overlapping spheres, equilibrium hard spheres, "quantizer" sphere packings, and crystalline sphere packings. For precise estimates of the percolation thresholds, we use a strict relation of the void percolation around sphere configurations to weighted bond percolation on the corresponding Voronoi networks. We use the Newman-Ziff algorithm to determine the percolation threshold using universal properties of the cluster size distribution. The critical pore radius δc is often used as the key characteristic length scale that determines the fluid permeability k. A recent study [Torquato. Adv. Wat. Resour. 140,103565 (2020)] suggested for porous media with a well-connected pore space an alternative estimate of k based on the second moment of the pore size hδ2i, which is easier to determine than δc. Here, we compare δc to the second moment of the pore size hδ2i, and indeed confirm that, for all porosities and all models considered, δc2 is to a good approximation proportional to hδ2i. However, unlike hδ2i, the permeability estimate based on δc2 does not predict the correct ranking of k for our models. Thus, we confirm hδ2i to be a promising candidate for convenient and reliable estimates of the fluid permeability for porous media with a well-connected pore space. Moreover, we compare the fluid permeability of our models with varying degrees of order, as measured by the τ order metric. We find that (effectively) hyperuniform models tend to have lower values of k than their nonhyperuniform counterparts.
