Raman Linewidth Contributions from Four-Phonon and Electron-Phonon Interactions in Graphene

The Raman peak position and linewidth provide insight into phonon anharmonicity and electron-phonon interactions in materials. For monolayer graphene, prior first-principles calculations have yielded decreasing linewidth with increasing temperature, which is opposite to measurement results. Here, we explicitly consider four-phonon anharmonicity, phonon renormalization, and electron-phonon coupling, and find all to be important to successfully explain both the G peak frequency shift and linewidths in our suspended graphene sample over a wide temperature range. Four-phonon scattering contributes a prominent linewidth that increases with temperature, while temperature dependence from electron-phonon interactions is found to be reversed above a doping threshold (ℏωG/2, with ωG being the frequency of the G phonon).

Spinal Tuberculosis could cause abnormalities in the lower extremity, even after the surgery and can be treated with Ankle-Foot Orthoses (AFO). The patient with that condition has to stabilize their body because it tends to fall forward. Thus, a ventral AFO is needed to support them. This study aims to evaluate AFO design by using Finite Element Method (FEM) with two different thickness (2 and 4 mm). The material used was a Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET). Three subphases in the stance phase were simulated, namely initial contact, midstance, and terminal stance. The external force in the simulation was based on the patient’s weight (50 kg). The result showed that the highest stress was obtained from ventral AFO with a thickness of 2 mm at the terminal stance, 244.7 MPa. This value exceeded the Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS) of PET which indicates the design would break. The ventral AFO with a thickness of 4 mm had lower stress than the UTS of PET. The strain of both designs was quite low with the maximum value of 0.019 from the ventral AFO with a thickness of 4 mm in the terminal stance. The deformation was also acceptable for both designs with the highest value of 39.67 mm from the ventral AFO with a thickness of 2 mm in the midstance. In conclusion, the ventral AFO with a thickness of 4 mm could be used for post-surgery spinal tuberculosis patient’s rehabilitation. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Framework for Measuring Process Innovation Performance at Indonesian State-Owned Companies

Several state-owned companies (SOEs) have successfully implemented process innovation. This paper examines the success factors that influence the successful implementation of process innovation in Indonesian state-owned companies. The present study used the three stages of an online questionnaire in the Delphi method to obtain consensus from experts. The consensus was measured based on the mean and standard deviation of the assessment answers provided by our respondents. Based on the development of process innovation implementation frameworks shown in previous studies, we obtained 28 factors that influence the successful implementation of process innovation. Our panelists believed that human resources and organizational factors, such as leadership, problem understanding, strategy, and culture, affected the success of process innovation in SOEs, even more than the research and development budget, support, and commitment factor of a given company. Meanwhile, cost efficiency was the main factor driving a company’s motivation to implement process innovation. The success factors in implementing process innovation are an essential consideration for the management of other SOEs eager to improve their company’s innovation performance, espe-cially process innovation. Success factors were carried out comprehensively for all implementation indicators of process innovation, including inputs, process (idea generation, idea selection, and idea implementation), outputs and outcomes, diffusion, culture, strategies, and push and pull factors. © 2022 by the authors. This study aims to develop a product such as "Digital storytelling of physics (DiS-Phy)" that can be used as a physics’ educational media for distance learning (PJJ) on magnetic field material. DiS-Phy developed as a digital storytelling media which is able to combine several learning media such as writing, pictures and learning videos in one medium. The developed DiS-Phy also equipped with scientific literacy questions. DiS-Phy can be accessed on all types of distance learning devices such as smartphones, laptops and tablets that are connected to the internet. DiS-Phy including the type of research and development (Research & Development) which refers to the ASSURE model. The result of validation test shows the percentages of 91,07%, according to subject-matter expert, 93,16%, according to media expert and 87,50% according to learning expert. DiS-Phy also tested by 4 physics teachers at senior high school in Jakarta that achieved 92,57% points that make this product has been qualified as a worthy physics’ distance learning device. Also of 35 as respondents in this study shows the percentages of 87,48% points that make this product worthy to use as an educational media. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the DiS-Phy has been qualified as a worthy physics’ distance learning device for teachers and students. © 2021 Institute of physics Publishing. We investigate thermomagnetic transport in an ultracold atomic system with two ferromagnets linked via a magnetic quantum point contact. Using the nonequilibrium Green’s function approach, we show a divergence in spin conductance and a slowing down of spin relaxation that manifest in the weak effective-Zeeman-field limit. These anomalous spin dynamics result from the magnonic critical point at which magnons become gapless due to spontaneous magnetization. Our findings unveil untapped dynamics in ultracold atomic systems, opening new avenues in thermomagnetism.

Development program for construction of irrigation channel gives big opportunity for development of renewable energy from small low head hydropower source. The use of hydropower gives no negative impact to environment, especially for greenhouse emission. A gravitational vortex hydropower is the object of this study, with the focus on the water intake channel using rectangular geometry. An experimental study was conducted to find the influencing parameters on the intake section of the gravitational vortex hydropower. A set of parameters were varied to determine which parameters affecting the water surface at the intake channel. By analyzing the results of the experiments, the influence of parameters on the water intake channel of gravitational vortex hydropower was found. A performance curve for differentiation of flow type and identification of surface contour has been made. Based on the results of the experiment, placing a strainer at 5 cm distance gave 60% higher output power since this setting could reduce the wave speed. Recommendation to have further study in non-dimensional parametric should be considered for increasing efficiency of the gravitational vortex hydropower. © 2020 IEEE.

Energy demand is increasing and it raise a climate change issue. Greenhouse emissions, depleted fossil energy resources, increasing fossil energy cost are reasons to maximize the utilization of renewable energy source. Hydropower extend an alternative energy source to cover the growing energy demand and release no emission at the same time for maintaining the climate change. In recent years, major focus of hydropower research is moving to small hydropower, as large hydropower opportunities are exploited and have high capital expenditure to build. A water vortex stream is a common phenomenon that we can see everyday life. Water flow out from the bathtub through outlet or water flow down in the sink after we finish washing the dishes, that is what we call vortex flow. and is a free-surface flow, homogenous fluid that contained water and air. This water vortex can be applied in low head small hydropower plant, recently known as gravitational water vortex power plant. River off Gravitational Water Vortex power plant (GWVPP) is one of low head turbine that can be used to generate electricity in small scale, pico-hydro. This study is focus on basin geometry. Models are developed to investigate the outlet diameter, depth discharge and basin geometry. It is found out that parameter of the basin should refer to source, which are flow rate, and the head of the water. It shows that spiral geometry for the basin gives symmetric and strong vortex and can be used as an alternative of conical basin. © 2020 IEEE.

The standard cosmological model assumes a homogeneous and isotropic universe as the background spacetime on large scales called the cosmological principle. However, some observations suggest the possibility of an inhomogeneous and anisotropic universe at large scales. In this paper, we investigate a model of the Universe with random inhomogeneities and anisotropies on very large scales, motivated by the supercurvature dark energy model in Nan et al. [Phys. Rev. D 99, 103512 (2019)]. In this model, the authors introduced a scalar field with O(1) inhomogeneities on a scale sufficiently larger than the current horizon scale (superhorizon scale), and the potential energy of the scalar field explains the accelerating expansion, with slight deviations from the cosmological principle. We aim at clarifying the theoretical prediction on the large-scale structure (LSS) of the matter component in this model. Based on the work on the superhorizon scale fluctuations (superhorizon mode) presented in Y. Nan and K. Yamamoto [Phys. Rev. D 105, 063518 (2022)], we derive the equations that the perturbative components to the LSS obey as a generalization of the cosmological perturbations theory, which is solved to find the influence of the dark energy inhomogeneities on the formation of the LSS. Finally, we show that the model can be consistent with observations by comparing the σ8 predicted by the numerical solution of the model with the σ8 indicated by observations such as Planck and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey.

This research aims to recognize the pattern of pulmonary disease on x-ray radiography image using artificial neural network (ANN) method. The images, which were used such as images of healthy pulmonary, pulmonary tuberculosis, and pulmonary tumour. Pattern recognition was using an extraction feature of GLCM (Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix) and back propagation method. Before being identified, the images were processed by median filter and adaptive histogram equalization. The GLCM features that used were homogeneity, energy, contrast, variance and correlation. The parameters were learning rate and hidden layer. Learning rate was 0.3 and hidden layer was 25. Back propagation training showed 100% accuracy, which all of 44 images were used had been successfully identified. From the result, the healthy pulmonary showed 60% accuracy, 83.3% for pulmonary tuberculosis and 100% for pulmonary tumor. Hence, the overall result showed 81.25% accuracy, which 13 of 16 images had been successfully identified. From these result, extraction feature of GLCM using back propagation method was capable to recognize the pattern of pulmonary disease. However, due to narrow range of the feature, this application may not be used optimally for comparing features in every category of images. Therefore, the further research is needed to determine the best features and parameters of training back propagation. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Fertilizer is one factor that is very influential in the success of agriculture. There are two types of fertilizer circulating in Indonesia today that is organic fertilizer and inorganic fertilizer (chemical). The used of chemical fertilizers allows the distribution of natural radionuclides into the environment. This study was conducted to determine the risk of the radioactive index of chemical fertilizer in Indonesia using gamma-ray spectrometry. There are 6 types of samples of fertilizers ie urea, ZA, KCL, NPK, TSP, and Phosphate. Radioactive risk index value that is found in the overall sample of fertilizer is below the limit recommended by the ICRP. © 2019 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.
