Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness, affecting millions of people worldwide. It is a chronic eye condition that damages the optic nerve and, if left untreated, can lead to vision loss and a decreased quality of life. Therefore, there is a need to explore practical and reliable mechanisms for glaucoma identification. This study systematically reviews deep-learning approaches for glaucoma identification using retinal fundus images from 2018 to 2024. Compared to existing survey studies, we cover the latest research, including several public retinal fundus image datasets, and focus on segmentation, classification based on convolutional neural networks and vision transformers, and explainability. The findings of this study, including comparisons of existing methods and key insights, will assist researchers and developers in identifying the most suitable techniques for glaucoma detection. © 2025 The Authors

In 2022, tobacco was the top export commodity, generating $106.3 million in sales. East Java Province contributes significantly to Indonesia's tobacco production, with an annual output of 188.6 thousand tons. Jember Regency is the area in East Java Province which is a Kasturi tobacco cultivation area. The productivity of Kasturi tobacco continues to decrease due to several factors that can affect the survival of the tobacco. This study aims to analyze the survival of Kasturi tobacco by creating stratified Cox and extended Cox models in order to handle factors that cannot fulfill the proportional hazard assumption. Based on the results of the analysis, the stratified Cox model is the best model with AIC and BIC values of 798.108 and 805.5748 respectively, while the extended Cox has AIC and BIC values of 840.2186 and 850.1732 respectively. Variables that can significantly affect the survival of Kasturi tobacco are the variable concentration of ZA fertilizer, pesticide concentration. The addition of ZA fertilizer must be appropriate, because if excessive it can cause poisoning of tobacco plants. Likewise with pesticides, if excessive it will cause damage to the leaves. This policy can increase the productivity of Kasturi tobacco. Then, Jember Regency contributes greater export capacity. • This paper aims to determine the factors that affect the survival of Kasturi tobacco plants in Jember • By using the extended Cox model, the best one is obtained using the Heaviside function with AIC and BIC values of 840.2186 and 850.1732, respectively • The stratified Cox model is better than the extended Cox model, which has AIC and BIC values of 798.108 and 805.5748, respectively

Crohn's disease (CD) is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract characterized by alternating periods of activity and remission. This study investigates whether the cellular environments of quiescent (inactive disease) and normal tissues show similarities or differences, exploring potential residual effects from disease and tissue recovery patterns. While active CD can typically be characterized by high neutrophil density, whereas quiescent tissues present less pronounced inflammatory markers. This study leverages multiplexed immunofluorescence (MxIF) data to examine the distributions and patterns of various nuclei subtypes in quiescent versus normal tissues, aiming to determine how similar or different these tissues are in the absence of active inflammation. In our study, we analyze four tissue samples labeled as normal and five as quiescent from CD patients, as determined by a pathologist. We use rigid and deformable registration of MxIF images to analyze these tissues in a unified space and classify the nuclei into 13 subtypes. Using a KD tree, we identify the 10 nearest neighbors for each nucleus, building a combined distance-weighted neighborhood matrix representing both normal and quiescent tissues. We projected these neighborhoods into 2 dimensions using t-distributed stochastic nearest neighbor(t-SNE), clustered them, and calculated the enrichment for each subtype between normal and quiescent states within each of 20 and 40 clusters. In the 20-cluster analysis, we find monocytes enrich in one cluster and leukocytes enrich in two clusters for normal and quiescent tissues respectively. For the 40-cluster analysis, we observe monocytes, macrophages, and leukocytes enrich in one cluster each in normal tissues, and in the quiescent condition, one cluster enriched with enteroendocrine cells, and two clusters enriched with leukocytes. Applications deployed in clouds are susceptible to performance degradation due to diverse underlying causes such as infrastructure faults. To maintain the expected availability of these applications, Machine Learning (ML) models can be used to predict the impending application performance degradations to take preventive measures. However, the prediction accuracy of these ML models, which is a key indicator of their performance, is influenced by several factors, including training data size, data sampling intervals, input window and prediction horizon. To optimize these data-related parameters, in this paper, we propose a surrogate-assisted multi-objective optimization algorithm with the objective to maximize prediction model accuracy while minimizing the resources consumed for data collection and storage. We evaluated the proposed algorithm through two use cases focusing on the prediction of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for a 5 G core network and a web application deployed in two Kubernetes-based cloud testbeds. It is demonstrated that the proposed algorithm can achieve a normalized hypervolume of 99.5% relative to the optimal Pareto front and reduce search time for the optimal solution by 0.6 hours compared to other surrogates and by 3.58 hours compared to using no surrogates. © 2013 IEEE.

This work introduces a two-dimensional modal logic to represent agents' Concurrent Common Knowledge in distributed systems. Unlike Common Knowledge, Concurrent Common Knowledge is a kind of agreement reachable in asynchronous environments. The formalization of such type of knowledge is based on a model for asynchronous systems and on the definition of Concurrent Knowledge introduced before in paper [5]. As a proper semantics, we review our concept of closed sub-product of modal logics which is based on the product of modal logics. The key idea is to reason about Concurrent Knowledge under a two-dimensional approach, regarding asynchronous runs and consistent global states as dimensions. We present an axiomatic system for the logic and issue the corresponding soundness and completeness proofs. © 2005 Oxford University Press.

The test activities performed during the life cycle of the telecommunication service development ensure the service quality and stability so necessary to achieve the maximum availability and reliability. The paper presents authors' contribution to remote and distributed testing for mobile communications services based on cloud computing assets and paradigms. The access solutions to the test methods were implemented for the GSM and GSM-R (Global system for Mobile - Railways) related Intelligent Networks services. The scalability and flexibility of the architecture allows to the proposed solution to be used, for both the production and the educational environments, to access the resources located on the different sites for the tests purpose. The concept of the remote test solution and the practical examples based on the remote tests with real equipments are presented in this paper. © 2011 IEEE.

Understanding epithelial cell aging in bowel tissue can provide critical insights into gastrointestinal (GI) health, potentially leading to improved diagnosis, treatment, and prevention strategies for various GI conditions. Despite the significance of cellular aging in the GI tract, previous studies have not quantified epithelial cell maturity development along the base-to-surface axis of colon crypts due to the labor-intensive nature of manual quantification and the lack of a clear definition of cellular age. Moreover, the process faces tremendous challenges when tissue is cut in 2D and examines results solely from one or a few biopsy cuts without reconstructing the full 3D space, as the original cell structure is 3D, leading to variability based on the cut angle. This research addresses these challenges by systematically analyzing the relationship between epithelial cell morphology and their position from the base to the surface in colon crypt tissue. Our approach involves using multiplex immunofluorescence (MxIF) imaging for cell nuclei segmentation, identifying the potential full longitudinal cut, and manually annotating the surface and base of the colon crypts. By analyzing the epithelial cells, we create density maps to investigate the relationship between nucleus size and the surface-to-base distance ratio, defining this ratio as cell age. We also examine the nucleus-to-cytoplasm (N/C) ratio in relation to cell age. For the statistical analysis, we use a robust linear regression model to remove outliers and a random effects model for the final regression. Our results show a decreasing trend in both the N/C ratio and nucleus size as epithelial cells move from the base to the surface. These findings provide a quantitative pipeline for single-cell profiling in a spatial manner, facilitating broader analysis of epithelial cell aging and its implications for GI health. © 2025 SPIE.

Many individuals now trade online utilizing trading software in the digital world. Binomo is one of Indonesia's most popular trading platforms. This is because some influencers made several promises to Binomo customers. Since many customers were deceived, this case became quite popular. This study was executed to see how Indonesians felt about the Binomo application after the case went viral. The solution taken was in the form of sentiment analysis because there had been no previous research on sentiment analysis that discussed the Binomo case. The data was scanned using Netlytic tools, a cloud-based text and social network analyzer capable of identifying any talks on social media sites such as Twitter. The sentiment analysis of Binomo trading tweets by using the Multi-Perspective Question Answering lexicon utilized the KNIME tool. But unfortunately, the accuracy of sentiment analysis results is low. Furthermore, the Support Vector Machine technique is also being conducted. The Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency method is applied to perform feature extraction whilst the chi-square approach is utilized to identify features that are thought to be useful for inclusion in the classification process and to exclude features that are irrelevant to the target class. The obtained accuracy is 86%. The study proposes that words from the algorithm's outputs can be utilized to improve the quality of sentiment analysis using the lexicon. As an outcome of the algorithm, positive and negative terms are added to the lexicon, increasing the accuracy of sentiment analysis using the new vocabulary from 58.984% to 71.146%. © 2023 IEEE.

Distributed storage of data files in different nodes of a network enhances its fault tolerance capability by offering protection against node and link failures. Reliability is often achieved through redundancy in one of the following two ways: (i) storage of multiple copies of the entire file at different locations (nodes) or (ii) storage of file segments (not entire files) at different node locations. In the (N, K) file distribution scheme, N file segments from a file F are created in such a way that it is possible to reconstruct the entire file, just by accessing any K ≤ N segments. For the reconstruction scheme to work, it is essential that the K segments of the file are stored in nodes that are connected in the network. However, in the event of node/link failures, the network might become disconnected (i.e., split into several connected components). We focus on node failures that are spatially correlated or region based. Such failures are often encountered in disaster situations or natural calamities where only the nodes in the disaster zone are affected. The first goal of this research is to design a least cost file storage scheme to ensure that no matter which region is destroyed;resulting in fragmentation of the network, a largest connected component of the residual network will have enough file segments with which to reconstruct the entire file. In case the least cost to ensure this objective is within the allocated budget, the storage design will be all region fault-tolerant (ARFT). In case the least cost exceeds the allocated budget, design of an ARFT file storage system design is impossible. The second goal of this research is to design file storage schemes that will be maximum region fault-tolerant within the allocated budget. The critical infrastructures of a nation including the power grid and the communication network are highly interdependent. Recognizing the need for a deeper understanding of the interdependency in a multi-layered network, significant efforts have been made by the research community in the last few years to achieve this goal. Accordingly a number of models have been proposed and analyzed. Unfortunately, most of the models are over simplified and, as such, they fail to capture the complex interdependency that exists between entities of the power grid and the communication networks involving a combination of conjunctive and disjunctive relations. To overcome the limitations of existing models, we propose a new model that is able to capture such complex interdependency relations. Utilizing this model, we provide techniques to identify the K most 'vulnerable' nodes of an interdependent network. We show that the problem can be solved in polynomial time in some special cases, whereas for some others, the problem is NP-complete. We establish that this problem is equivalent to computation of a fixed point of a multilayered network system and we provide a technique for its computation utilizing Integer Linear programming. Finally, we evaluate the efficacy of our technique using real data collected from the power grid and the communication network that span the Maricopa County of Arizona. © 2014 IEEE.
