Non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) have been crucial in curbing COVID-19 in the United States (US). Consequently, relaxing NPIs through a phased re-opening of the US amid still-high levels of COVID-19 susceptibility could lead to new epidemic waves. This calls for a COVID-19 early warning system. Here we evaluate multiple digital data streams as early warning indicators of increasing or decreasing state-level US COVID-19 activity between January and June 2020. We estimate the timing of sharp changes in each data stream using a simple Bayesian model that calculates in near real-time the probability of exponential growth or decay. Analysis of COVID-19-related activity on social network microblogs, Internet searches, point-of-care medical software, and a metapopulation mechanistic model, as well as fever anomalies captured by smart thermometer networks, shows exponential growth roughly 2-3 weeks prior to comparable growth in confirmed COVID-19 cases and 3-4 weeks prior to comparable growth in COVID-19 deaths across the US over the last 6 months. We further observe exponential decay in confirmed cases and deaths 5-6 weeks after implementation of NPIs, as measured by anonymized and aggregated human mobility data from mobile phones. Finally, we propose a combined indicator for exponential growth in multiple data streams that may aid in developing an early warning system for future COVID-19 outbreaks. These efforts represent an initial exploratory framework, and both continued study of the predictive power of digital indicators as well as further development of the statistical approach are needed. This article describes a framework for semantic annotation of texts that are submitted for forensic analysis, based on Frame Semantics, and a knowledge base of Forensic Frames - FrameFOR. We demonstrate through experimental evaluations that the application of the Semantic Role Labeling (SRL) techniques and Natural Language Processing (NLP) in digital forensic increases the performance of the forensic experts in terms of agility, precision and recall.

The relaxation of binary spins to analog values has been the subject of much debate in the field of statistical physics, neural networks, and more recently quantum computing, notably because the benefits of using an analog state for finding lower energy spin configurations are usually offset by the negative impact of the improper mapping of the energy function that results from the relaxation. We show that it is possible to destabilize trapping sets of analog states that correspond to local minima of the binary spin Hamiltonian by extending the phase space to include error signals that correct amplitude inhomogeneity of the analog spin states and controlling the divergence of their velocity. Performance of the proposed analog spin system in finding lower energy states is competitive against state-of-the-art heuristics.

Immunoglobulin E (IgE) synthessis is highly related to a variety of atopic diseases, and several genome-wide association studies (GWASs) have demonstrated the association between genes and IgE level. In this study, we conducted the largest genome-wide association study of IgE involving a Taiwanese Han population. Eight independent variants exhibited genome-wide significance. Among them, an intronic SNP of CD28, rs1181388, and an intergenic SNP, rs1002957030, on 11q23.2 were identified as novel signals for IgE. Seven of the loci were replicated successfully in a meta-analysis using data on Japanese population. Among all the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) regions, HLA-DQA1*03:02 - HLA-DQB1*03:03 was the most significant haplotype (OR = 1.25, SE = 0.02, FDR = 1.6 × 10), corresponding to HLA-DQA1 Asp160 and HLA-DQB1 Leu87 amino acid residues. The genetic correlation showed significance between IgE and allergic diseases including asthma, atopic dermatitis, and pollinosis. IgE PRS was significantly correlated with total IgE levels. Furthermore, the top decile IgE polygenic risk score (PRS) group had the highest risk of asthma for the Taiwan Biobank and Biobank Japan cohorts. IgE PRS may be used to aid in predicting the occurrence of allergic reactions before symptoms occur and biomarkers are detectable. Our study provided a more comprehensive understanding of the impact of genomic variants, including complex HLA alleles, on serum IgE levels.

The Southeast Asian (SEA) region is no stranger to forest fires - the region has been suffering from severe air pollution (known locally as ‘haze’) as a result of these fires, for decades. The fires in SEA region are caused by a combination of natural (the El Niño weather pattern) and manmade (slash-and-burn and land clearing for plantations) factors. These fires cause the emissions of toxic aerosols and pollutants that can affect millions of people in the region. Thus, this study aims to identify the impact of the SEA haze on the Southern region of the Malaysian Peninsula and Borneo region of East Malaysia using the entire air quality observation data at surface level in 2015. Overall, the concentration of PM10 was about two-fold higher during the haze period compared to non-haze period. The concentrations of CO, flux of CO and flux of BC were aligned with PM10 during the entire observation period. The wind field and cluster of trajectory indicated that the Southern Malaysian Peninsula and Borneo were influenced mainly from the wildfires and the combustion of peat soil in the Indonesian Borneo. This study finds that wildfires from Borneo impacted the Southern Malaysian Borneo more seriously than that from Sumatra region. © 2020 Elsevier B.V.

Improving TOGAF ADM 9.1 Migration Planning Phase by ITIL V3 Service Transition

Modification planning of business transformation involving technological utilization required a system of transition and migration planning process. Planning of system migration activity is the most important. The migration process is including complex elements such as business re-engineering, transition scheme mapping, data transformation, application development, individual involvement by computer and trial interaction. TOGAF ADM is the framework and method of enterprise architecture implementation. TOGAF ADM provides a manual refer to the architecture and migration planning. The planning includes an implementation solution, in this case, IT solution, but when the solution becomes an IT operational planning, TOGAF could not handle it. This paper presents a new model framework detail transitions process of integration between TOGAF and ITIL. We evaluated our models in field study inside a private university.

Sampeu: Servicing Web Map Tile Service over Web Map Service to Increase Computation Performance

Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) has a standard for cartographic over web service; there are Web Map Service (WMS) used by MapServer, Web Feature Service (WFS), and Web Map Tile Service. There is research on comparing two cartography information between WMS and WFS, so this research extends to proposed solution by comparing WMS and WMTS computation cost and created a product called Sampeu. Sampeu has proposed a solution by creating WMTS protocol over WMS. WMTS work on the tile-ing system where the data transform from big picture to part of the Tile is. A lot of Tile making a pyramid of cartography and serving to client one by one, so the computation cost can be decreasing.

Many researches proposes geospatial web framework over the popularity of the Internet. Based on that, research on securing geospatial web framework is necessary. In this research aimed Peuyeum. Peuyeum is geospatial web framework with Encrypted Universal Resource Locator (URL). Advance Encryption Standard (AES)-Cipher Block Chaining (CBC) chosen as the method in this research. By calculating attack time, the brute force attack will reduce by this approach and resistance time will improve.

Concerns and limitations in agile software development: A survey with Paraguayan companies

This year, the Agile Manifesto completes seventeen years and, throughout the world, companies and researchers seek to understand their adoption stage, as well as the benefits, barriers, and limitations of agile methods. Although we have some studies and questionnaire data at the global level, we know little about how the Paraguayan software community is adopting agile methods. The present work conducted a research to set up the current stage of adoption, initial concerns and barriers of implementation of agile methods in software development companies in Paraguay. An online survey was sent to representatives of 53 Paraguayan companies. Of these, 9 (17%) companies responded. The concern about adopting more agile methods (44.44% of respondents) was the lack of reliability in product quality if developed using agile methods. The main barrier was the lack of experience (66.66%) of the companies. Copyright © 2017, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Meningiomas are the most common primary intracranial tumor in adults and can be associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Radiologists, neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists, and radiation oncologists rely on multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) for diagnosis, treatment planning, and longitudinal treatment monitoring;yet automated, objective, and quantitative tools for non-invasive assessment of meningiomas on mpMRI are lacking. The BraTS meningioma 2023 challenge will provide a community standard and benchmark for state-of-the-art automated intracranial meningioma segmentation models based on the largest expert annotated multilabel meningioma mpMRI dataset to date. Challenge competitors will develop automated segmentation models to predict three distinct meningioma sub-regions on MRI including enhancing tumor, non-enhancing tumor core, and surrounding nonenhancing T2/FLAIR hyperintensity. Models will be evaluated on separate validation and held-out test datasets using standardized metrics utilized across the BraTS 2023 series of challenges including the Dice similarity coefficient and Hausdorff distance. The models developed during the course of this challenge will aid in incorporation of automated meningioma MRI segmentation into clinical practice, which will ultimately improve care of patients with meningioma.
