Urban forest fires have become a global concern, severely impacting human lives, property, and the environment. Pohang City in South Korea experienced its first urban forest fire on March 9-10, 2013, significantly damaging residential areas due to the city's expansion into mountainous regions. This study uses a Regression Discontinuity Design to analyze the effects of the fire on housing prices in Pohang. The results show a notable price decline near the fire-damaged areas, with a 16.5 % drop within the 50-m zone and a 6.9 % decrease within the 400-m zone. The negative impact persists, with a 6 % reduction within the 1000-m zone after a two-month lag. These findings emphasize the importance of understanding the spatial and temporal dynamics of urban forest fires in real estate markets. The study offers valuable insights into the complex relationship between urban forest fires and housing prices, providing guidance for disaster preparedness, risk mitigation, and recovery efforts.

To live in a good mood is not only a key consideration for future age-friendly communities, but also a critical necessity for positive ageing. Despite growing evidence of correlations between contact with nature and stress reduction, little is known about the effect of nature integration in indoor environments. Thus, this study aimed to answer the following research questions: (a) How do biophilic characteristics of home environments correlate with older adults' experience of the multiple levels of the theory of gerotranscendence? and (b) What is the relationship between these experiences and the mood states of these older adults? The study was based on a comparative analysis to scrutinise the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on these questions. The data were gathered through questionnaires with 450 older adults aged between 65 and 95 years, and stratified by the biophilic characteristics of their living environments: indoor biophilic, outdoor biophilic and non-biophilic. Two sets of data were collected with the same participants, respectively, before the COVID-19 pandemic (June to October 2018) and during the COVID-19 pandemic (June to October 2020). It found that the biophilic characteristics of home environments are correlated dynamically with older adults' ageing experience and mood states. The study indicates that outdoor biophilic features facilitate the recovery of tension mood effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, whereas indoor biophilic features facilitate recovery from depression and anger.

The road of Cisarua - Ngamprah has winding conditions and can result in accidents from a geometric perspective. Some of the reasons are because the radius, visibility, and pavement widening at bends have inappropriate road slopes. This research aims implementation of centrifugal force in the geometric design of road for safety driving Conveniencet at the Cisarua sta. 0+050 - 1+450. This research method uses evaluative and quantitative methods. Data collection is carried out by observing road locations and the agencies responsible for completing geometric traffic data. Data analysis was carried out on centrifugal strength calculation, the highway gradient, arch sharpness calculation, and centrifugal forces implementation on road bends. These actions are lumped through plunging the aftereffect of greater centrifugal force strength. Moreover, this implementation is also able to reduce the chance of accidents due to centrifugal force impacts based on road geometry calculations. Based on the evaluation and implementation of a smaller centrifugal force design, the use of a spiral-circle-spiral bend type with a transition curve can increase safety driving comfort.

Despite offering new possibilities for the education, interpretation, preservation, and management of cultural assets, virtual heritage still demands more consistent theoretical-practical debates. Under the scope of developing historical buildings' virtual models, the level of detail (LOD) is defined as a parameter that directly affects workflows, requiring time, investments, and specialized professionals. This work investigates how different LOD configurations influence the construction and interpretation of three-dimensional models of historic buildings. To this end, five 3D models with different LODs of a historic building in Brazil were set in an exploratory study that addressed users' perceptions when experimenting with them from a phenomenological perspective. The goal was to identify which elements and LOD configurations of the model were preponderant. The experiment was performed through an online workshop, where first-year architecture students could virtually experience the 3D models created, comparing them to a movie of the existing building. Participants were divided into five groups, one for each proposed LOD, and described their experiences through reports that were then analyzed, considering a list of themes emerging from their speeches. The findings underwent statistical analysis to understand how different themes and videos were linked. The experiment findings showed that (1) the 3D models with higher LODs led to more comprehensive comments on the architecture of the building and (2) elements such as the building's surroundings, the humanization of the scenery, and the temporal depth of the 3D models should be considered in the virtual reconstruction process.

The aim of this article is to examine and assess Turkey's wood waste potential through an experimental investigation approach to serve Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of United Nations Development programme. While integrating entrepreneurial and architectural perspectives from two authors, the survey provides insights into the waste wood-producing sector, highlighting the gaps within the data in the existing literature. To address these gaps, after reviewing available sources in the wood-waste producing sector, the authors conducted interviews with directly involved volunteers to gather first-hand information and suggestions. Viability studies were subsequently conducted for theoretical products, comparing their potential to create value-add by utilizing wood waste capacity. The proposal for handmade, unique, products from solid wood waste demonstrated a higher added value attributed to elevated selling price expectations, albeit with limited benefits in recycling substantial amounts of wood waste. Conversely, the proposal focusing on wood-based pressboards exhibited a lower added value, influenced by competitive pressure from industrially produced boards, but demonstrated a significant capacity for CO2 sequestration. The findings of the study underscore a considerable future potential for wasted wood and its utilization in Turkey, while also emphasizing the pressing need for additional research on wood waste recycling to enhance ecological sustainability.

The utilization of ground mobile inspection robots in industrial applications has gained significant traction due to their ability to enhance safety, efficiency, and data accuracy in hazardous environments. This paper introduces a framework designed to assist in selecting and implementing these robots in industrial setting, addressing the critical need for choosing the most suitable for specific inspection tasks. The framework categorizes critical capabilities into several key domains including navigation, inspection, integration, constructive characteristics and support. Then, this paper evaluates nine robots based on those domains, revealing significant variances in their capabilities, and establishes a workflow for selecting the most suitable robots to address the specific needs of different inspection tasks. This paper concludes that the adoption of this framework and workflow may guide industries in making informed decisions about integrating inspection robots, thereby improving operational safety, reducing risks, and enhancing inspection efficiency.
