Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has a spirit to become a Conservation and International Reputation University is realized through strategic missions. One of the conservation-oriented implementation programs is H-BAT (Green, Clean and Healthy) program. In its implementation, there is a problem, namely the achievement of H-BAT program has not been maximized during the last 3 years in assessment. The objectives of this research are: (1) to identify of the potential and character of environmental support in the work units;(2) to determine the achievement of the indication of a green campus based on the assessment indicators on H-BAT program. This research was carried out in four stages: (1) Data collection;(2) Spatial data processing;(3) Non Spatial data processing;(4) Analysis (ecological, technical standards);The results achieved in June 2020 are as follows: FT got 87,50%, FE got 85,87%, FMIPA got 81,52%, BUHK got79,49%, FIP got 73,91%, LP3 got 69,23%, LP2M got 63,46%, FIS got 60,33%,PPS got 57,07%, FIK got 56,52%, FH got 52,72%, FBS got 49,46%, TIK got 40,38%, BPB got 34,62%, Library got 30,13%, Archive got 17,31%. From these results, it can be seen that there is a lack of maximum achievement due to, among others, the lack of guidance and technical assistance in the management of the unit. So it is necessary to complete governance guidelines and technical assistance that are more intensive in unit governance to achieve the goals of UNNES as a green campus. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Green bioflotation of calcite using surfactin as a collector

In this study, the collecting effect of the biosurfactant obtained from Bacillus subtilis on the flotation of calcite mineral was investigated. NMR and FT-IR analyses show that the obtained biosurfactant is similar to surfactin. It is known that surfactin is a biomolecule used in various industrial fields such as cleaning and cosmetics apart from mining. Surfactin is an amphiphilic molecule containing hydrophobic and hydrophilic parts. With this feature, the surfactin has the potential to be used as a collector in flotation. In preliminary tests, it has been observed that the surfactin floats calcite efficiently. Central Composite Design (CCD) method was used in systematic calcite bioflotation experiments. In the bioflotation test results in which the effects of solid ratio, pH and collector amount were examined, 80% calcite recovery was obtained. In order to compare the results of bioflotation and classical flotation, several calcite flotation experiments were performed with oleate under the conditions given in the literature. According to the results, the pH in bioflotation is close to the natural pH of the pulp and the bioreagent consumption is one-tenth of the oleate consumption. These data suggest that on an industrial scale, the bioreagent could be a strong competitor to oleate.

As a village that later developed into an area that resembled a colonial city at that time, Depok Lama had a concept of residential space that was different from the colonial settlements that existed during the Dutch colonial period. In other colonial settlements, the concept of settlement was the result of a design from the Dutch government, in the Depok Lama settlement the concept of residential space was formed from the activities of citizens directed by a will. This method is used to find a detailed picture based on facts about the beginning of the formation of Depok lama settlement through collecting Depok Lama maps, Chastelein's will, and observing city artifacts. The results of this study note that the concept of space that was applied at the beginning of the formation of the Depok Lama settlement was an unplanned concept of sustainability, prioritizing easy access to various main facilities in the Depok Lama settlement, forming a comfortable environment for the residents of Depok Lama in building their lives and improving they socio-economic quality. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Structural novelty detection based on sparse autoencoders and control charts

The powerful data mapping capability of computational deep learning methods has been recently explored in academic works to develop strategies for structural health monitoring through appropriate characterization of dynamic responses. In many cases, these studies concern laboratory prototypes and finite element models to validate the proposed methodologies. Therefore, the present work aims to investigate the capability of a deep learning algorithm called Sparse Autoencoder (SAE) specifically focused on detecting structural alterations in real-case studies. The idea is to characterize the dynamic responses via SAE models and, subsequently, to detect the onset of abnormal behavior through the Shewhart T control chart, calculated with SAE extracted features. The anomaly detection approach is exemplified using data from the Z24 bridge, a classical benchmark, and data from the continuous monitoring of the San Vittore bell-tower, Italy. In both cases, the influence of temperature is also evaluated. The proposed approach achieved good performance, detecting structural changes even under temperature variations.

Educational constructivism emphasizes the interaction between the individual and the environment to build knowledge, prioritizing social collaboration and personal reflection. In the San Luis sector of San Isidro Patios, a participatory educational model is proposed to address the lack and consumption of poor-quality water. The methodology, divided into five phases, seeks to optimize the transfer of knowledge through human interaction and the combination of pedagogical *** instructional design follows nine steps, from the definition of problems to the selection of teaching resources, adapting to the student and the community context. Constructivist, cognitivist, and behaviorist approaches are integrated, highlighting situated learning and formative assessment to promote effective and participatory instruction. The workshops focus on acquiring skills to address problems such as the lack of drinking water and inefficient rainwater collection systems in *** objectives, student considerations, content analysis, teaching strategies and objective evaluation are an integral part of the design, which includes learning units and teaching-learning approaches adapted to each type of knowledge. Teaching strategies include communication, group work and practical workshops, with evaluation criteria that consider viability, environmental responsibility, social inclusion, innovation and technical *** educational approach adopted seeks to promote community participation in solving real problems related to water supply and management. The importance of considering the specific characteristics of the target community and the integration of complementary pedagogical models is highlighted. The methodology seeks not only to address the problem of water supply, but also to empower participants through a participatory educational process oriented towards concrete solutions.

Alkali-silica reaction (ASR) has been recognized as a potential cause of concrete degradation in the world since the 1940s. In Pakistan, mega hydropower structures like dams, weirs constructed from aggregates extracted from a local river bed, exhibited different levels of alkali-silica reactivity over an extended service period. The concrete expansion potential due to such aggregates has been categorized as slow-reactive. Apart from hydropower structures, ASR existence has been identified in the concrete structural elements of a textile mill building which used aggregates extracted from the nearby river bed. The original structure of the textile mill was erected in the 80s with addition of a textile "sizing and wrapping" hall constructed in the 90s. In the years to follow, intensive spalling was observed in the structural members of the subject hall, enough to threaten the overall stability of the building. Limitations such as incomplete building data posed hurdles during the detailed structural investigation. The paper lists observations made while assessing the extent of damage and its effect on the building hall structure. Core testing and petrographic tests were carried out as per the ASTM standards for strength degradation analysis followed by its root cause identification. Results confirmed significant structural strength reduction due to the presence of ASR, which necessitated the formulation of an immediate re-strengthening solution. The paper also discusses the possible tracks of rehabilitative measures likely to be adopted for structural stabilization and to seize further concrete expansion.

The use of private or consortium blockchains in organizations' applications is growing. A relevant aspect of blockchains is the choice of consensus mechanism. This decision delimits which blockchain solutions are suitable for the private scenario. Once the consensus mechanism is chosen, more than one blockchain may be enabled. However, this decision making is not trivial and requires detailed experimental indicators about algorithms and blockchains performance. In this context, we provide a comprehensive performance analysis of the Raft consensus mechanism based on its implementation in Hyperledger Fabric and Ethereum blockchain solutions. We performed our experiments on an OpenStack private cloud using each blockchain developer's default settings for virtual machines. Our findings show how the implementation of each solution can impact the application's performance under certain conditions.

Territorial Ecological Restoration with a High-carbon Storage Focus in the Beibu Gulf Urban Agglomeration of China:Insights from Carbon Metabolism Spatial Security Patterns

Assessment of Temperate Deciduous Forest Communities and Structures after Restoration through the Multi-Reference Ecosystems Framework

The reference forest serves as a model for forest ecosystem restoration and can be employed to assess the vegetation of the Restored Forest, thereby confirming the success of restoration. When evaluating restoration, employing multireference forests is advantageous for discerning gradual changes in Restored Forests. However, in previous studies, their utilization has been limited to comparisons with individual ecosystems. Therefore, this study investigates the status of Restored Forests in previously damaged areas and their resemblance to reference forests across four forest types, namely Climax Forest (CF), Secondary Forest (SF), Restored Forest (RF), and Planted Forest (PF). Reference forests, serving as model targets for restoration, include CF and SF, while RF and PF represent the restoration forests. Six target sites within two temperate deciduous forests (Quercus acutissima and Quercus variabilis) were selected, and a comparative analysis of species diversity, dominance, and evenness was conducted. This study revealed that the dominant species in the top canopy of restoration forests mirrored those in reference forests, with Q. variabilis and Q. acutissima being prevalent. A similarity index of over 60% and a high correlation of 0.987 were observed in the top canopy layer between the reference and restored ecosystems (CF-RF/SF-PF). These findings enhance our understanding of the current status of Restored Forests and advocate for the utilization of multiple reference forests for successful restoration efforts.

Torsional Performance of Vat-Photopolymerized Tough Resin: Influence of Gauge Length and UV Post-Curing

BackgroundA myriad of materials, ranging from soft sensors to bone substitutes, undergo torsional loading throughout their operational lifespan. Many of these materials are produced using additive manufacturing (AM) technology due to its broad applicability. Understanding the torsional behavior of these AM components is crucial prior to their utilization. However, research on the torsional behavior of solid additively-manufactured resin polymers remains very *** address the gap in understanding the torsional behavior of additively-manufactured resin polymers, this study aimed to investigate the effect of varying gage lengths and UV post-curing durations on the torsional capacity, shear modulus, and energy absorption characteristics of these *** specimens were fabricated using vat photopolymerization (VPP) with AnyCubic UV Tough Resin. The specimens were prepared with different gage lengths (20, 40, 60, and 80 mm) and were subjected to five UV post-curing durations (0, 15, 30, 60, 90, and 120 min). Monotonic torsion was applied to the specimens until failure at a rate of 0.1 revolutions per *** tests revealed ductile failure patterns across all specimens. Longer post-curing times were found to correlate with increased torsional capacities and shear moduli. However, conclusions regarding energy absorption per unit volume remained inconclusive. The results showed that UV exposure had a significantly greater impact on the mechanical properties of the specimens compared to the gage length. Additionally, a normalized trilinear model was proposed to characterize the behavior of additively-manufactured resin polymers under monotonic torsion, which facilitates numerical simulation of material responses in finite element software.
