In this paper, we aim to reduce the number of nodes from Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), thereby simplifying models and reducing computational costs. GNNs are highly effective for various tasks, such as prediction, classification, and clustering, due to their ability to learn node and edge attributes and relationships, and they have been utilized for intelligent transportation systems recently by converting sensor networks into graph structures. Deep spatio-temporal neural networks, including Spatio-Temporal Graph Convolutional Networks (STGCNs), capture spatial and temporal dependencies, making them suitable for traffic speed forecasting, traffic demand prediction, and travel time estimation. Despite their success, GNNs face challenges in industrial applications due to significant memory usage and time consumption. In this paper, we propose a new approach to node reduction that outperforms existing methods in computational efficiency. Our experiments on two real-world traffic datasets demonstrate that using the heuristic and edge information to reduce nodes can cut computation time of optimization up to 95% and, by eliminating noise, can even enhance prediction accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

Query language execution is widely used in big data. The SQL standard is the major query language. Big data has a lot of SQL-like tools, for example: Spark-SQL, Hive, Drill, and Presto. This paper focused on Hive with the Spark engine. To increase Hive's query performance in a case study, NVMe Solid State Devices, we proposed the compressed Parquet file including SNAPPY, gzip, and Zstandard (zstd). Query workloads use TPC-H benchmark. Thus, this compression codec can reduce the main transaction table of TPC-H benchmark by 56%, and some queries have lower CPU usage than Text file. However, the Hive on Spark engine with our proposed compression codecs for Parquet files has lower CPU usage than Text file in some TPC-H queries. Thus, NVMe storage with the Parquet file compression codec is more efficient than text files for improving query performance on the Spark engine. © 2022 IEEE.

We have been developing MEIMAT, meiji micro-processor (MPU) architecture design tools. Our MEIMAT has a feature to implement arbitrary instructions. However, the MEIMAT does not have a function to simulate those instructions. Therefore, we have newly developed a function of simulation to dynamically execute the designed instructions. The result of this dynamic simulation can be measured by the developed module viewers. It is also demonstrated that a higher performance MPU can be designed by our improved MEIMAT. © 2022 IEEE.

Development of “Peter's First-Aid Adventure” Virtual Reality-Based Serious Game in First-Aid Education: Usability Analysis of Virtual Reality Interaction Tools

Incidents that threaten lives can occur unexpectedly, highlighting the importance of immediate first aid. Studies show that Virtual Reality (VR)-based Serious Games (SG) are excellent alternatives for learning, especially for physical training, as they provide immersive and realistic scenarios where users can learn and practice their skills in a safe environment. Therefore, this research proposes the design of a VR-based SG for learning first aid procedures. A total of 31 participants tested the game's usability using both VR controllers and hand tracking, playing the game with both tools in random order, and then completing the XR-GUQ and Interaction Categories questionnaire. The results indicate that controllers offer higher usability than hand tracking. However, the game can still effectively utilize both interaction tools, given their satisfactory usability ratings.

Player evaluation and learning outcomes of “NusaVenturas”: A serious game for enhancing player knowledge and interest in Indonesian traditional foods

The popularity of Indonesian traditional food has been declining due to the increasing influence of foreign cuisine. This study presents the development method that combining Game Development Life Cycle (GDLC) with Experiential Game Learning Design Framework and evaluation of a serious game "NusaVenturas" using usability, learning outcome, and Game Experience Questionnaire (GEQ) that designed to introduce, promote interest, educate, and preserve knowledge of Indonesian traditional foods. "NusaVenturas" is a unique 2D serious game that integrates puzzle-platformer elements with time-management cooking mechanics. The study involved 37 participants aged 18 to 23. Evaluation results indicate that "NusaVenturas" significantly enhances players' knowledge of Indonesian traditional foods, with statistical analysis confirming the significance of the findings.

Comparative usability analysis across different driving control scenarios in a driving simulation game

This study aims to address the gap in the evaluation of driving simulation games by further assessing and developing ProjectStir (a Driving Simulation Game) through its adaptation to two different driving control devices: a steering wheel and an arcade stick. Despite the growing popularity of simulation games, limited research has been conducted on how different control devices impact user experience and usability. Usability was evaluated through variables including Easiness of Game Control, Learnability of Gameplay, Remembrance, Challenge, Efficiency, Tension, Familiarity, and Satisfaction. Involving 30 respondents from the computer science program at BINUS University, the results revealed no significant differences in usability between the two scenarios (p<0.05), as determined by the Wilcoxon signed-rank test and paired t-test. These findings suggest that ProjectStir offers consistent usability, regardless of whether a steering wheel or an arcade stick is used for gameplay, thus providing valuable insights for future development and refinement of driving simulation games.

Abstract The amount of illegal wildlife trade cases increases every year in Indonesia. This causes some unique Indonesian wildlife to become endangered or even extinct. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to raise public awareness to illegal wildlife trade issue by using a game as its media to reduce the number of cases of illegal wildlife trade in Indonesia. The game made in this research will be developed using the GDLC development method and 2021.3.11f1 version of Unity as its game engine. To evaluate the game that has been developed in this research, a comparation to other related games is conducted and resulted in the game that has been developed in this research is significantly better than other related games in Challenge, Learnability and Concentration aspects (p < 0.001).

When making a new microprocessor (MPU), the instruction set architecture is considered. It is also necessary to design how to work the instructions in hardware circuits of the MPU. As a solution to these, we previously proposed a method of expressing the instruction in two ways of semantic expression and functional expression. We also developed a tool that can visualize the instruction. In this paper, we have improved this method by extending a usual MPU to a meta-instruction for any MPU. We have also developed a conversion method for the meta-instruction using a relationship between the semantic and the functional expressions. Then we verified how well our meta-instruction can represent the usual instructions. It is confirmed that most of them can be represented by the meta-instruction. Since our developed tool user can design the meta-instructions from either semantic or functional expression and both expressions can be automatically converted to each other, they can design the instruction of a new MPU and can understand hardware circuits for the MPU instruction by the functional expression. © 2022 IEEE.

The experiment was carried out by growing BaTiO3 (Undoped or Li-doped) on p-type Si(1 0 0) substrates using the Chemical Solution Deposition (CSD) method and spin coating at a rotational speed of 3000 rpm for 60 s, followed by heating at 850 °C. The characterization results show that the bandgap energy value of the thin film due to lithium doping reduces the bandgap energy value. This is presumably because the donor atom added to a semiconductor causes the allowable energy level to be slightly below the conduction band. The presence of this new band causes the thin film bandgap energy to decrease with a five-valent tantalum dip. The morphological properties showed that the BaTiO3/Si(1 0 0) thin film particles in the deposited lithium had a fairly homogeneous grain. With the addition of lithium acetate as a binder into barium titanate, the grain size is getting smaller because it is suspected that the lithium-ion radius is smaller than the barium-ion radius. Measurement of I-V on the thin film shows that the output voltage value increases with more light intensity hitting the surface of the thin film. The greater the light intensity, the greater the energy of the photons, so the electrons are easier to jump. The three things above (both electrical and morphological properties) conclude that the thin films grown have the potential for photovoltaics. © 2023
