Research related to digital assets & ownership is currently rising along with the escalation utilization of Blockchain through various use cases and its derevatives, for example in facilitating Digital Assets in the form of virtual property (virtual houses / buildings and virtual land) in the Metaverse. These digital assets often have utilities, features, and even limited copies of quantities so that these digital objects have more value for specific users on a platform and even general people who are interested in and value them. To be able to preserve the value of digital assets in the Metaverse such as virtual property previously mentioned especially for transactions, a set of regulations/governance, as well as sustainable development in the future in the Metaverse is really needed so that the use of Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) in the metaverse is one way to maintain the sustainability of the ecosystem & market and its potential of virtual property. After conducting research for DAO development for virtual property transactions, starting with determining goals & purposes, breaking down the DAO focus object (virtual property), clustering relevant attributes, matching socio-economic impacts, and finally designing smart contracts & governance consensus, we obtained 4 main layers namely Consensus Governance, Smart Contract, Virtual Property & Socio-Economic. © 2023 IEEE.

In the rapidly advancing field of genomics, the identification of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) plays a crucial role in understanding complex phenotypic *** study introduces "PentaPen", an innovative computational workflow which combines the strengths of five penalized models to achieve improved accuracy in SNP *** compare the performance of PentaPen with existing models, highlighting its advantages in solving problems arising from when the number of predictors exceeds the number of *** model comparison, we provide insights into PentaPen's effectiveness in utilizing all SNPs as input, streamlines data pre-processing, and leverages parallel computation, enabling the workflow a considerable stride in SNP ***, a thorough evaluation and comparison of computational complexities signifies competitive edge of the workflow over individual penalized *** future research directions, we propose applications of PentaPen to plant-specific characteristics and suggest further explorations to assess the robustness of its *** summary, this manuscript presents the genomics community with a tool that combines computational efficiency with high-precision SNP detection, making a strong contribution to the field of genomic research. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

The Information technology/Operational technology convergence towards Industry 4.0 opens the opportunity to leverage recent advancements in Information technology for Operational technology, such as Cloud, Internet of Things, and Artificial Intelligence. Meanwhile, cyber-attacks are increasing for Operational technology. The security aspect in Operational technology systems has traditionally been a low priority, in contrast with speed. This introduces challenges as Industrial Control Systems such as programmable Logic Controller in Operational technology have been traditionally optimized for speed rather than security due to limited computing power. As computations need to be as efficient as possible, security in Operational technology has yet to be managed as robustly as in Information technology. Operational technology communication protocols for securing data transfer, for example, have no or just a few security capabilities, even for basic authentication and encryption. Common security algorithms rely on random numbers. However, Random Number Generator is not usually part of standard functions in programmable Logic Controllers, the core control component in Industrial Control Systems. In Industrial Control Systems, the Random Number Generator is mostly implemented as a software-based Pseudo Random Number Generator. This paper shows how to apply a Pseudo Random Number Generator in a Siemens Compact PLC S7-1200 using a modified lightweight XORshift algorithm. The XORshift algorithm can generate better randomness than the system's clock-based implementation in the Siemens Library of Generic Functions. © 2023 IEEE.

SFA-Net: A Selective Features Absorption Network for Object Detection in Rainy Weather Conditions

In recent years, object detection approaches using deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have derived major advances in normal images. However, such success is hardly achieved with rainy images due to lack of visibility. Aiming to bridge this gap, in this article, we present a novel selective features absorption network (SFA-Net) to improve the performance of object detection not only in rainy weather conditions but also in favorable weather conditions. SFA-Net accomplishes this objective by utilizing three subnetworks, where the feature selection subnetwork is concatenated with the object detection subnetwork through the feature absorption subnetwork to form a unified model. To promote further advancement in object detection impaired by rain, we propose a large-scale rainy image dataset, named srRain, which contains both synthetic rainy images and real-world rainy images for training and testing purposes. srRain is comprised of 25 900 rainy images depicting diverse driving scenarios in the presence of rain with a total of 181 164 instances interpreting five common object categories. Experimental results display that our SFA-Net reaches the highest mean average precision (mAP) of 77.53% on a normal image set, 62.52% on a synthetic rainy image set, 37.34% on a collected natural rainy image set, and 32.86% on a published real rainy image set, surpassing current state-of-the-art object detectors and the combination of image deraining and object detection models while retaining a high speed. © 2012 IEEE.

Interference is a critical factor that degrades wireless network performance. In IEEE 802.11 wireless broadcast networks, hidden terminals and concurrent transmissions are the primary sources of interference due to the carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) mechanism. Therefore, analyzing the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) distribution is essential for evaluating network performance, whose derivation relates to the transmission probabilities of hidden terminals and concurrent transmissions. In this study, we utilize the existing semi-markov process (SMP) model to calculate these transmission probabilities. Subsequently, we employ the Laplace transform to analyze the SINR distribution in IEEE 802.11 broadcast ad-hoc networks on highways. Based on the derived SINR distribution, we further evaluate the reliability and capacity. This approach can be readily extended to two-dimensional (2D) or three-dimensional (3D) scenarios by employing d-dimensional (1 ≤ d ≤ 3, dD) point process. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model achieves high accuracy under small to medium interference ranges. Additionally, the analysis remains highly accurate for receivers within 70 meters, even in scenarios with large interference ranges. Manufacturing, energy, finance, education, transportation, smart home, and medicine employ IoT technology. IoT solutions can efficiently manage hospital patients and mobile assets to provide high-quality medical services. The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) integrates IoT with medical equipment to increase patient comfort, cost-effective medical solutions, hospital treatment speed, and personalized healthcare. This work uses Constrained Application Protocol to secure remote patient health data (CoAP). Nevertheless, the CoAP DTLS layer lacks key control, session establishment, and multicast message exchange. Hence, IoMT communication requires an efficient protocol for safe CoAP session formation. Consequently, to address key management and multicast security issues in CoAP, we presented an efficient and secure communication method to establish a secure session key between IoMT devices and distant servers utilizing lightweight, energy efficient, and Secure CoAP Elliptic Curve Cryptography (E2SCEC2). E2SCEC2 can use a smaller key size than Rivest-Shamir-Adleman (RSA) due to its tiny key size. To determine if these algorithms are compatible in limited contexts, the paper examines key creation, signature generation, and verification of E2SCEC2 and RSA algorithms, energy consumption, and radio duty cycle. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Recent work has proven the effort of researchers to integrate small sensors and a cloud environment, delivering the Internet of Things (IoT). Sensors as a service are one of the leading research concerns in this context. Nevertheless, security is becoming one of the most significant attributes of the IoT as sensors become more human-independent and are being extensively used to monitor human lives. That way, IoT brings many key security challenges that need attention, some of which we address in this position paper. We present a cloud-based infrastructure that can deliver sensors and actuators as a service, providing secure communication between them and the control nodes on which IoT applications rely while implementing Big Data algorithms. For mapping our proposal, two scenarios related to Health Assistance are discussed, considering secure communications in a sensor network. In conclusion, we propose a scope for future research in this field considering digital twin concepts. Since domains exploiting IoT technologies can benefit from adopting Digital Twin, our goal is to evolve a virtual sensor and actuator system into this technology. © 2023 IEEE.

Batik is a cultural heritage of Indonesia, recognized by WHO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. Batik is dyed by skilled craftsmen who make patterns with dots and lines on the fabric from melted wax. The process is complicated, so few people can experience all the steps in crafting Batik. From these problems, immersive learning media are needed so everyone can learn and gain experience in Batik crafting from start to finish. In this study, we will present Nge-BatikVR, a serious game application that introduces Batik through Virtual Reality and offers an immersive experience of learning Batik from various regions with interactive hands-on feature aimed at people to better understand and learn Batik. Nge-BatikVR offers four main features called Sinau (Learn), Kuis (Quiz), Nge-Batik (Simulation) and Toko (Shopping), with the main purpose to present interactive and engaging media useful for introducing and learning Batik with a fully immersive experience. © 2023 IEEE.

Racing is one of the most prominent genres in the modern video game industry, where the games within the genre enable players to use any vehicle of their choice and win through doing series of action within gameplay. Thus, it made the genre popular over the years, spawning many famous titles such as Split Second back in 2010. Like every other video game title, Split Second also invokes the player emotion and instinct during its gameplay session. To understand the emotion and instinct aspect present in players of the game, we will use 6-11 framework which focuses on the two aspects. As part of the conclusion, Split Second game involves instincts such as Competition, Collecting, and Survival, with emotions including Fear, Pride, Joy, and Excitement, which can be found from its vast single player game modes.

Dynamic weight-based connectivity recovery in wireless sensor and actor networks

Wireless sensors and actor networks (WSANs) have been widely used in various fields, from basic data collection to precise real-time control and monitoring, including battlefield monitoring, rescue, and exploration. The actor nodes in a WSAN play a key role in processing and transmitting data, and because of the harsh environmental conditions encountered, network node failures are prone to occur. The failure of an actor causes a loss of connectivity with its neighbor nodes, resulting in network splits and failure to deliver messages between nodes. Therefore, determining how to quickly and autonomously recover network connectivity while minimizing the moving distance of backup nodes and the number of relocated nodes is crucial. In this paper, we propose a dynamic weight-based connectivity recovery (DWCR) method to minimize the total moving distance of actor nodes, the number of relocated nodes, the total messages sent, and the coverage loss rate. The proposed DWCR method involves selecting a backup node for each critical node by dynamically adjusting the weight. If a critical node fails, the backup node starts to move to restore the connectivity of the failed node. The simulation results indicate that the proposed DWCR method outperforms the recovery through inward motion (RIM) method and other methods in terms of minimizing the total moving distance, the number of relocated nodes, and the total messages sent. However, because the RIM algorithm requires the relocation of more nodes during the network process, the DWCR algorithm is slightly inferior to the RIM algorithm in terms of coverage loss rate. Nevertheless, the DWCR algorithm still outperforms the distributed actor recovery algorithm and the distributed autonomous connectivity restoration method based on finite state machine algorithm. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.
