Whittle-Matérn fields are a recently introduced class of Gaussian processes on metric graphs, which are specified as solutions to a fractional-order stochastic differential equation. Unlike earlier covariance-based approaches for specifying Gaussian fields on metric graphs, the Whittle-Matérn fields are well-defined for any compact metric graph and can provide Gaussian processes with differentiable sample paths. We derive the main statistical properties of the model class, particularly the consistency and asymptotic normality of maximum likelihood estimators of model parameters and the necessary and sufficient conditions for asymptotic optimality properties of linear prediction based on the model with misspecified parameters. The covariance function of the Whittle-Matérn fields is generally unavailable in closed form, and they have therefore been challenging to use for statistical inference. However, we show that for specific values of the fractional exponent, when the fields have Markov properties, likelihood-based inference and spatial prediction can be performed exactly and computationally efficiently. This facilitates using the Whittle-Matérn fields in statistical applications involving big datasets without the need for any approximations. Tourist destination reviews on Google Maps have become a valuable point of reference for visitors seeking enjoyable spots to visit. Additionally, users can gain insight into the reasons for writing reviews. Text classification is used to determine the motivation behind these reviews. The aim of this study is to compare machine learning (ML) text classification techniques for identifying the intent behind sentiments expressed as complaints (0), suggestions (1), opinions (2), statements(3), and awards (4). The ML techniques assessed are Multinomial Naive Bayes (MNB), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN). To achieve this, tourist destination review data sets, comprising 738 reviews, were collected using web scraping from the Google Maps website. Preprocessing stages, including case-folding, tokenisation, filtering and stemming, are executed prior to the data being prepped for feature extraction with TF-IDF. The employed classification models perform well with KNN achieving 1.00 accuracy on a 90:10 data split, and SVM obtaining 0.90 on the same data split. Although, the Multinomial Naive Bayes algorithm with 0.70 accuracy on a 90:10 data split is classified as fair. Comparison of methods was conducted by means of a Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) diagram. The testing accuracy for the SVM method was found to be 95%, MNB at 91%, and KNN at 84%.

Skin pathologies encompass a spectrum of conditions, with malignancies such as melanoma representing a critical diagnostic urgency. This investigation delineates the deployment of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for the classification of dermatological anomalies, benchmarking CNN diagnostic fidelity against dermatological expert evaluations. The study underscores the efficacy of CNN classifiers in expediting the diagnostic workflow for various cutaneous disorders. Advocating for an automated diagnostic framework, the research introduces a CNN-based system aimed at reducing human diagnostic load, accelerating diagnostic timelines, and enhancing survival outcomes. Utilizing advanced image processing algorithms and deep learning architectures, the research presents an automated classification system for skin pathologies, addressing both benign and malignant presentations. The classification matrix includes nine dermatological conditions: actinic keratosis, basal cell carcinoma, benign keratosis, dermatofibroma, melanoma, nevus, seborrheic keratosis, squamous cell carcinoma, and vascular lesions. The objective is to engineer a CNN model with robust diagnostic performance across a diverse lesion dataset, ensuring accurate identification and categorization of dermatological conditions.

In this paper, a dual-channel converter with a positive output and negative voltage output is proposed. It integrates a positive voltage output converter and a negative voltage output converter, and shares the same switches. The number of active components can be reduced. In addition, the circuit can achieve dual output voltage control with a single controller and PWM drive signal by appropriately designing the ratio of the number of windings of the coupling inductor. A regulated positive voltage output and negative voltage output can be achieved.

Worldwide, lung cancer is a serious public health issue. The aim of this paper was to investigate the patterns of lung cancer mortality in Thailand, 2019. Two datasets provided by the Ministry of Public Health, Thailand, one is Verbal Autopsy (VA) and the other is Vital Registration (VR) were utilized. The VA study was conducted in the selected nine provinces in 2019 with a total number of 8,848 deaths, whereas 377 (4.3%) cases were accounted for deaths from lung cancer. On the other hand, the VR data reporting the total number of 488,503 deaths for the entire country in 2019 with 15,675 (3.2%) cases were accounted for deaths by lung cancer. A logistic regression model was applied to obtain the estimated proportion of deaths by lung cancer. After that, a triangulation method was utilized, and then the logistic regression model was applied to project the number of deaths by lung cancer in 2019 for the entire nation. It was discovered that males aged 50–79 and females aged 50–69 have statistically significant proportions of death by lung cancer higher than the overall mean (3.14%). Moreover, geographically, the proportion of deaths by lung cancer was the highest in the north and the lowest in the south. Additionally, the proportion of deaths by lung cancer for both genders aged younger than 50 and older than 80 years was statistically significantly lower than the overall mean. However, among the patients who are older, they might die from other comorbidities.

For Cardio-thoracic technology education program, the focus is on teaching pathophysiology, as well as the interpretation of electrocardiograms (ECG), through case studies. The curriculum includes instruction on treatment options and the use of electrophysiology studies (EP studies) for tachycardia and cardiac ablation. A portion of e-learning resources for ECGs and EP studies are delivered via web-based platforms. However, to date, there have been no e-learning platforms that combine instruction on pathological ECGs, EP study, cardiac ablation, or simulations of EP which would provide a more comprehensive learning experience for students. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to create the electrophysiology study simulator program (EPSSIM), which serves as an e-learning platform for EP studies and ECG. The development started with gathering information about ECG from the medical records of patients at a public hospital. MATLAB was used to generate synthetic heart signals. Microsoft Visual Studio 2019 was used to construct the EPSSIM program. A total of 47 cardio-thoracic technology students who used the program completed a pre-test and post-test and questionnaires. The effectiveness and satisfaction of the EPSSIM program were evaluated. The results showed that participants' scores improved, but the improvement was restricted due to the short time that the students were able to use the system. The participants who completed the satisfaction survey generally indicated satisfaction with the effectiveness of EPSSIM. Overall, the use of the application was beneficial and the application could be successfully used in future to enhance users knowledge.

Water resources used by human activities ranges typically from personal and household, agricultural, industrial, recreational to environmental pursuits. The effects of these water utilizations are actually of great concerns by many due to various threats created by human functions and the nature itself, for instance, climate change, pollution, scarcity, and even conflicts. To mitigate these threats, implementation of water quality management based on recognized standards and guidelines not only will they provide solid framework and benchmark used in relation to the assessment of the water quality but will also enable the identification of corresponding classification indicated by the water quality index (WQI) pertinent and relevant to the surface water dataset. This paper aims at applying selected predictive modeling techniques that are highly optimized for use in semi-automating the work of the water quality classification (WQC) and the water quality index (WQI) that subsequently can be used in assisting the planning, problem-solving and/or decision-making processes. The preliminary results obtained are quite satisfactory as follow: predicting WQI using neural network model (NN) outperforms both the Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) and the Support Vector Machine (SVM) based on a mean absolute error (MAE) lower than the two models and predicting WQC using SVM, and ANN models based on accuracy score with SVM returns a favorable accuracy score higher than two others.

The Neural Networks (NN) model which is incorporated in the control system design has been studied, and the results show better performance than the mathematical model approach. However, some studies consider that only offline NN model learning and does not use the online NN model learning directly on the control system. As a result, the controller's performance decreases due to changes in the system environment from time to time. The Reinforcement Learning (RL) method has been investigated intensively, especially Model-based RL (Mb-RL) to predict system dynamics. It has been investigated and performs well in making the system more robust to environmental changes by enabling online learning. This paper proposes online learning of local dynamics using the Mb-RL method by utilizing Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model. We consider Model Predictive Control (MPC) scheme as an agent of the Mb-RL method to control the regulatory trajectory objectives with a random shooting policy to search for the minimum objective function. A nonlinear Mass Spring Damper (NMSD) system with parameter-varying linear inertia is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The simulation results show that the system can effectively control high-oscillating nonlinear systems with good performance.

Social media has now become a place for others to exchange information in the form of writing, photos, videos, and audio. Social media has become a place for humans to interact from all over the world. In the use of social media, attractive professional information is conceptualized as access to relevant information and opening up better career opportunities. User content about work and choosing personal information compilation strategies consistently predict information usefulness. This study discusses the effect of using a linked-in application on the success of its users in the professional world. It is hoped that it can provide insight into the use of this recruitment application, making it easier for users to find work. The research model used in this research is quantitative. The survey was conducted on connected users in Indonesia using an online questionnaire, and the data collected was analyzed using PLS-SEM. Of the 68 respondents who took the survey, it can be said that all research models have a positive relationship with the successful use of the linked-in platform. © 2022 IEEE.
