The nuclear power industry has historically used paper-based procedures, but a shift towards computer-based procedures (CBPs) has the potential to reduce human errors, alleviate mental workload, and improve work performance. Twentyseven participants were randomly assigned to one of three CBP types using the Rancor Microworld Simulator, and each performed two different types of operational scenarios (startup and loss of feedwater). The three CBP types varied in levels of digitalization. It was hypothesized that there would be less favorable impressions of the most basic procedures, and that these would demonstrate lower usability than types with greater digitalization. Overall, our predictions were partially supported with some interesting caveats, specifically with some performance benefits for CBPs that provided indicators but not embedded controls. We discuss our findings in terms of optimal levels of digitalization/automation within nuclear operations and suggest pathways for future directions. © 2023 Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.

Home security is a crucial aspect that requires careful attention, particularly when it comes to addressing theft concerns. Hence, implementing smart door technology equipped with facial recognition holds promising potential for enhancing home security. This study aims to develop a more secure and regulated home entry system by leveraging Internet of Things (IoT) technology and Machine Learning computer Vision for facial recognition. The system integrates IoT devices, such as cameras and automatic doors, wherein facial image data is captured by the camera and processed using the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) algorithm to identify individuals. Once an individual is recognized, the system grants access to the home through an automated door. By relying on facial features, the system effectively restricts unauthorized access and safeguards homes against theft risks. Therefore, the advancement of a safer and more controlled home entry system utilizing IoT technology and Machine Learning computer Vision holds tremendous benefits for homeowners.

The data mining process requires a data set that can be used in determining a number of specific patterns to gain new knowledge. Large data sets (Big data) require special methods to get effective results. Included in this study are using big data related to the earthquake in Lombok. Earthquake research, especially in Lombok, is needed because Lombok is on three active plates in Indonesia, so that the danger of earthquake damage can be minimized. Earthquake data obtained from the Geophysical Station (BMKG) of Mataram has different characteristics and is complex, an appropriate method is needed, namely by detecting a non-parametric method with the Multivariate Adaptive Regression Spline (MARS). The use of the backward stepwise algorithm with the Conical Quadratic programming (CQP) framework of MARS, referred to as CMARS (Conic Multivariate Adaptive Regression Splines), is used for optimizing the results. The conclusions of this study are 1. A mathematical model with a total of 12 basis functions (BF) has contributed to the prediction analysis of the PGA dependent variable. 2. Contributions of the influence of independent variables on the PGA value are the epicenter distance (R e pi) of 100% and the Magnitude (Mw) of 31.08608%, while the temperature of the incident location (SUHU) of 5.48525% and depth (Depth) of 3,52988%. 3. Acquired areas that haveearthquake hazard levels in the order of the most vulnerable are Malaka, Genggelang, Tegal Maja, Senggigi and Mangsit. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Multi SVM has long been one of the popular methods in classification, while DCNN has recently gained significant attention in image processing and pattern recognition. This research evaluates the effectiveness of Multi Class Support Vector Machine (M-SVM) and Deep Convolutional Neural Network (DCNN) techniques in classifying brain tumors. A dataset of 2660 3D medical images with dimensions 227 x 227 x 3; including Glioma, Meningioma, and Pituitary tumors, has been partitioned into distinct sets for both training and testing purposes. DCNN approach achieves excellent accuracy in identifying tumor names, with a training accuracy of 97.8% and 100% success rate in 9 experiments. The Multi SVM method demonstrates relatively good accuracy, with training accuracies ranging from 70% to 90% based on different kernel functions. These findings provide valuable insights for selecting appropriate methods in brain tumor classification and encourage further exploration of hybrid Multi SVM-DCNN approaches to enhance accuracy and reliability.

This research demonstrates the improvement in antenna gain by utilizing an EBG reflector. The EBG reflector includes a unit cell with grooves shaped like the letters M and W to mitigate surface waves at a frequency of 2.45 GHz. The suggested EBG reflector is constructed on an FR-4 substrate exhibiting a uniform dielectric constant of 4.3, a loss tangent of 0.025, and a thickness of 1.6 mm. Furthermore, the impact of boosting the antenna gain can be analyzed by the reflection phase diagram, which exhibits values ranging from +90° to -90° at the resonant frequency of the reflector. The proposed EBG reflector comprises 5x5 unit cells. The testing results of the reflector's performance, when integrated with a general dipole antenna, indicate that it can effectively respond to the resonant frequency of 2.45 GHz, with a |S11| level below -10 dB within the frequency range of 2.2 GHz to 2.6 GHz, thereby adequately covering the IEEE 802.11 b/g/n band. The suggested EBG reflector exhibits a gain of around 6.5 dBi at 2.45 GHz, indicating its efficacy in enhancing gain relative to the standard PEC reflector. Moreover, the radiation pattern is also directional. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper examines the reproducibility of massive information analytics under particular factors. The paper proposes the 'performing Scalable Inference' technique to cope with scalability troubles and to exploit current big statistics platforms for efficient computing and statistics garage of the statistics. In particular, the paper describes how to perform leak-free, parallelizable visible analytics over massive datasets using present extensive records analytics frameworks such as Apache Flink. This method presents an automated manner to execute analytics that preserves reproducibility and the ability to make adjustments without re-running the entire technique. The paper also demonstrates how these analytics may help several real-world use instances, explore affected person cohorts for studies, and develop stratified patient cohorts for hospital therapy. In the end, the paper observes how the proposed method may be exercised within the real world. Actively scalable inference for massive information analytics is pivotal in optimizing decision-making and allocation of assets. Typically, such inferences are made based on information accumulated from numerous sources, databases, unstructured data, and different digital sources. So one can ensure scalability, a complete cloud-primarily based platform has to be hired. This solution will permit the ***, deploying the essential records series and evaluation algorithms are prime here. It could permit the platform to recognize the styles inside the statistics and discover any ability correlations or traits. Additionally, predictive analytics and system mastering strategies may be incorporated to provide insights into the results of the information. In the long run, by leveraging those techniques, the platform can draw efficient inferences and appropriately compare situations in an agile and green way.. © 2023 IEEE.

Air pollution is one of the most important health problems causing various diseases. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is estimated that more than 7 million deaths are due to air pollution. For this reason, air quality monitoring is an important indicator for guiding public policy. However, government stations are widely scattered and their high cost makes it unprofitable to invest in higher resolution. Low-cost air quality monitoring sensors can overcome this problem, but also bring new challenges. This paper presents the development of a low-cost air quality monitoring device. The low-cost station collects the following measurements: carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO 2 ), sulfur dioxide (SO 2 ), ozone (O 3 ), and particulate matter. The collected data is corrected using a machine learning model and sent to the Internet in real time via the LoRaWAN protocol. Mean square error (MSE), root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), linearity coefficient (R 2 ), and Pearson r were used to compare model performance. Our results show that linear models such as the Alphasense equation and linear model regression cannot accurately describe the sensor response to the reference gas sensor, whereas the RF model performs better in each metric. The performance of the RF model demonstrates the potential to improve air quality monitoring and the decision-making process.

Internet of Things (IoT) is an environment in which digital equipment is augmented with sensors to share and receive data through network. When devices share data it can be effected by anomalies or any attack due to corrupted data or by any other uncertainty and ambiguity in data. The data can also be corrupted through a damage in device. These attacks or anomalies damage the working of the IoT networks. The anomalous data can be detected through detection techniques however most anomaly detection techniques depend upon labelled data but for IoT datasets, usually class labels are not available. Labeling is performed by a manual process which is time consuming and also costly. As data in IoT increases day by day so there is a need to label and classify data for future unseen data. In this paper a hybrid algorithm is proposed in which both clustering and classification techniques are applied for automatic labeling and classifying on IoT dataset. The model contains two function. In the first phase k-means clustering is employed for labelling dataset instances as normal or anomalous. In the second phase labelled dataset is used to train Random Forest model to detect anomalies in IoT networks. The results show that the proposed model is detecting anomalies in IoT networks with an accuracy 98%, precision 98 %, recall 98%, and F-meausre 0.98%.

Monitoring the quality of river water is of fundamental importance and needs to be taken into consideration when it comes to the research into the hydrological field. In this context, the concentration of the dissolved oxygen (DO) is one of the most significant indicators of the quality of river water. The current study aimed to estimate the minimum, maximum, and mean DO concentrations (DO min, DO max, DO mean) at a gauging station located on Tualatin River, United States. To that end, four machine learning models, such as support vector regression (SVR), multi-layer perceptron (MLP), random forest (RF), and gradient boosting (GB) were established. Root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), coefficient of correlation (R), and Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE) metrics were employed to better assess the accuracies of these models. The modeling results demonstrated that the SVR and MLP surpassed the RF and GB models. Despite this, the SVR was concluded to be the best-performing method when used to estimate the DO min, DO max, and DO mean. The best error statistics in the testing phase were related to the SVR model with full (four) inputs to estimate DO mean concentration (RMSE = 0.663 mg/l, MAE = 0.508 mg/l, R = 0.945, NSE = 0.875). Finally, the explainability of the superior models (i.e. SVR models) was conducted using SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) for the first time to estimate DO concentration. In fact, evaluating the explainability of machine learning models can provide useful information about the impact of each of the input estimators used in the procedure of models development. It was concluded that the specific conductance (SC) and followed by water temperature (WT) could provide the most contributions for estimating the DO min, DO max, and DO mean concentrations. © 2024 The Author(s).
