Smart furniture has emerged as a significant area of interest in scientific research over the past decade. This bibliometric analysis aims to explore the trends in scientific research related to smart furniture from 2014 to 2023. By examining a range of scholarly articles, this study delves into the evolution of smart furniture technologies, applications, and implications. The research reveals a growing interest in integrating intelligent systems into furniture design, enabling network connectivity and user-controlled operations. Despite the growing number of studies, the research landscape remains fragmented, necessitating a comprehensive bibliometric analysis to consolidate existing research and identify trends. Data selection from the Scopus database yielded a total of 97 documents from 69 sources, with average citations per doc is 8.041. On the corresponding author's countries, China is the highest country. Moreover, terms like “smart furniture” that expand in size and extend to the right of the chart indicate a growing emphasis in recent literature, signaling potential areas of increased research activity. Smart furniture is characterized as furniture that is connected to a network and equipped with intelligent technologies that make use of user data and energy sources. The study underscores the importance of addressing issues such as ease of use, privacy, security, and affordability in implementing smart furniture solutions. This study provides valuable insights into the current state and future prospects of smart furniture research, guiding further investigation and advancement in this rapidly evolving sector.

The research entitled “Internet of Things for Smart Furniture: A Systematic Review” explores integrating IoT technology into smart furniture to improve functionality and user experience. By synthesizing existing literature, this research aims to discover how the Internet of Things (IoT) is leveraged to meet specific user needs with smart furniture and what hardware and sensor technologies are proposed for smart furniture design, considering factors such as scalability and need for users. Current research trends in securing user communications and data in the context of IoT-enabled smart furniture. This research involved a literature search which included journal articles and reviews from the Web of science (WOS) and the Scopus database (core collection) from 2014 to 2023, and the final results were 9 documents that would be reviewed. Several impactful means must be used to meet specific user needs, such as health monitoring, enhanced security, enhanced convenience and mobility, integration with smart home systems, and personalization and adaptability. Drawing insights from IoT data quality, machine learning applications in IoT, and smart furniture design for elderly care, this research provides a comprehensive picture of the current IoT-enabled smart furniture landscape. This research can explore existing IoT solutions for smart furniture, with a focus on cutting-edge technologies and design principles that can shape the future of this domain.

For scalable autonomous driving, a robust map-based localization system, independent of GPS, is fundamental. To achieve such map-based localization, online high-definition (HD) map construction plays a significant role in accurate estimation of the pose. Although recent advancements in online HD map construction have predominantly investigated on vectorized representation due to its effectiveness, they suffer from computational cost and fixed parametric model, which limit scalability. To alleviate these limitations, we propose a novel HD map learning framework that leverages graph modeling. This framework is designed to learn the construction of diverse geometric shapes, thereby enhancing the scalability of HD map construction. Our approach involves representing the map elements as an instance-level graph by decomposing them into vertices and edges to facilitate accurate and efficient end-to-end vectorized HD map learning. Furthermore, we introduce an association strategy using a Graph Neural Network to efficiently handle the complex geometry of various map elements, while maintaining scalability. Comprehensive experiments on public open dataset show that our proposed network outperforms state-of-the-art model by 1.6 mAP. We further showcase the superior scalability of our approach compared to state-of-the-art methods, achieving a 4.8 mAP improvement in long range configuration. Performance in modern embedded systems, particularly those executing computation-intensive signal/image processing and machine learning algorithms, is critically dependent on the efficiency of multiplication operations. Serial multiplication offers key advantages in these resource-constrained environments, including low memory usage and minimal interconnect complexity. The most significant digit first (MSDF) serial multiplication scheme further enhances efficiency by enabling early termination and supporting variable precision. It is ideal for embedded applications where power and performance are critical. This paper proposes an auto-selection scheme for MSDF multiplication, where product digits are generated as a byproduct of residual maintenance, leading to speed, cost, and power efficiency improvements. We demonstrate the implementation of serial-serial and serial-parallel multipliers, where the multiplier operand in the latter is fully available throughout the computation. Simulation and synthesis results, compared to the most relevant previous works, show reductions in delay (16% and 20%), area consumption (11% and 23%), and power dissipation (7% and 20%), making our approach well-suited for embedded systems requiring efficient, low-power multiplication hardware. © 2009-2012 IEEE.

A network with no infrastructure, multiple hops, and dispersed nodes called a MANET. Nodes can communicate directly or through intermediaries without the need for permanent infrastructure. In dynamic networks like MANETs, routing procedures enhance the overall appearance of the network by ensuring Quality of Service (QoS). A routing protocol may use a composite routing measure to determine the best path for transferring data. Optimal location-based routing for MANETs based on energy-awareness is presented in this paper. Optimal routes are selected using this fast algorithm. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is used instead of location-aided routing to select the normal data transmission route. Last but not least, the network is tested by simulating its packet delivery ratio, its energy level, its delay, and its overhead.

The concept of Digital Twin has been widely used by researchers to represent physical entities in computer-generated reality in the metaverse. In this research, a novel concept of “Mobile Twin” is coined. Mobile Twin serves as a replica of a mobile device in the virtual environment enabling communication. The purpose of introducing Mobile Twin in the metaverse is to bring mobility and benefits similar to tangible mobile devices while eliminating the need for individual energy sources, storage limitations, resource usage, and efficiency. The true benefits of a mobile twin can be achieved with an architecture where computing nodes are decentralized, data processing is near the network's edge with faster response times and reduced latency. For this purpose, the mobile twin-based applications of metaverse are built over edge computing-based network architecture. This idea introduced the aspect of “Revolutionary Ultra-low latency (RULL)” in the metaverse.

India is a highly densely populated country. India is facing a very serious challenge due to the novel COVID-I9 outbreak. In this situation, the economic state of the people is very unstable. Blockchain technology proves helpful to subdue the situation. A voting system with ballot papers is quite tuff now. It is very costly for the government. The pandemic may also spread very quickly. The system of developing ledger serves the idea of developments of a new e-voting system that is economical, easy to use, and highly secure. This paper proposes ways and solutions to design an e-voting system using blockchain technology. The paper's primary goal is to develop a highly secure e-voting technique using which people can cast their valuable votes from their home, working place - anywhere from the world. This e-voting technique is least costly, highly secure, and able to prevent further spreading of any infectious disease in the near future. In this paper, an e-voting system using blockchain has been designed to overcome all these difficulties mentioned above during traditional voting using ballot. The significance of the proposed work is to design of a highly safe and least costly e- voting system using blockchain. Using this system the people can cast their vote easily, securely and without wasting any time. Casting vote will be now just from few clicks away and from any place with a stable internet connection. © 2021 IEEE.

We propose, analyze, and experimentally verify a new proactive approach for robot social navigation driven by the robot's “opinion” for which way and by how much to pass human movers crossing its path. The robot forms an opinion over time according to nonlinear dynamics that depend on the robot's observations of human movers and its level of attention to these social cues. For these dynamics, it is guaranteed that when the robot's attention is greater than a critical value, deadlock in decision making is broken, and the robot rapidly forms a strong opinion, passing each human mover even if the robot has no bias nor evidence for which way to pass. We enable proactive rapid and reliable social navigation by having the robot grow its attention across the critical value when a human mover approaches. With human-robot experiments we demonstrate the flexibility of our approach and validate our analytical results on deadlock-breaking. We also show that a single design parameter can tune the trade-off between efficiency and reliability in human-robot passing. The new approach has the additional advantage that it does not rely on a predictive model of human behavior.

Melanoma is a malignant form of cancer that affects the skin and has a particularly high mortality rate, so it requires early detection to increase the level of safety for users. Diagnosis and detection of skin cancer are usually done through manual screening and visual inspection. This process requires a long time, has high complexity, is subjective, and is prone to errors. CNN is one of the algorithms with advantages in accurate classification. In this research, early detection and classification of melanoma cancer were carried out based on two classes, namely benign and malignant using the Convolutional Neural Network method. Our proposed method yields an accuracy of 81.11% for the validation data. The accuracy results obtained can be improved by using more datasets and increasing the number of layers used. This study uses the CNN method using MobileNet V2 architecture to detect melanoma skin cancer. The class used is benign and malignant.

Voice synthesizers still present several challenges in the speech of mathematical content, as spoken mathematics has quite peculiar rules. In the synthesized speech, pauses help blind and visually impaired students identify the limits of mathematical operators and subexpressions. However, most studies on pauses define them uniformly or use simple punctuation marks to force the synthesizer to introduce pauses in certain parts of the expression. Speech is a dynamic process and pauses in expressions also need to be dynamic to make the synthetic speech of expressions more natural, as this can help in memorizing this type of content. This work proposed a dynamic model of pauses for mathematical expressions. Collected math expressions spoken by teachers were used to create the model. These expressions were useful for identifying patterns and creating a linear regression model. Blind and visually impaired students evaluated the model. Some improvements were observed when we compared the synthesized mathematical expressions with the model and Audiomath, the parameter tool used in this study. © 2022 ACM.
