In this paper, we first offer basic results regarding modal logic: (1) a wide range of modal systems can be syntactically reduced to the modal logic K in terms of theoremhood and (2) we can restrict the forms of modal axioms without changing their deductive power in that range of modal logics. Then, based on these results, we offer a new, simple, uniform, and modular proof-theoretical proof of the realization of a wide range of modal logics with possible combinations of modal axioms T,D, 4, 5 (including S5) in Justification Logic. We do not use a generalization of sequent calculus, such as hypersequent and nested sequent calculi. We simply utilize the standard cut-free sequent calculus for K and then show, in the realized proof in Justification Logic (corresponding to K), how to recover the realizations of the modal axioms by rewriting terms in the proof. © 2020 College Publications. The goal of the present study is to use prosodic information to improve automatic syntactic parsing of conversational speech in the Switchboard Corpus. To achieve this, an ensemble classifier, based on a Recurrent Neural Network, is developed to predict the parse with the highest Unlabelled Attachment Score (UAS) from the outputs of multiple dependency parsers, based on syntactic and prosodic features. The main syntactic features proposed, which we refer to as "dependency configurations," represent the relative dependency location of each of a pair of consecutive words. Empirical analysis indicates that configurations with a direct dependency between consecutive words are less likely to be associated with major prosodic breaks. Using syntactic features alone, the system achieved an improvement of 1.1% of UAS on the test set, above the best parser in the ensemble, while using syntactic features combined with prosodic features (pauses and normalized duration) led to a further improvement of 0.4%. Both empirical analysis of dependency configurations and parsing improvement suggest a relationship between prosody and direct dependency relationships between consecutive words. © 2020 International Speech Communications Association. Exceptional points (EPs) have been extensively explored in mechanical, acoustic, plasmonic, and photonic systems. However, little is known about the role of EPs in tailoring the dynamic tunability of optical devices. A specific type of EPs known as chiral EPs has recently attracted much attention for controlling the flow of light and for building sensors with better responsivity. A recently demonstrated route to chiral EPs via lithographically defined symmetric Mie scatterers on the rim of resonators has not only provided the much-needed mechanical stability for studying chiral EPs, but also helped reduce losses originating from nanofabrication imperfections, facilitating the insitu study of chiral EPs and their contribution to the dynamics and tunability of resonators. Here, we use asymmetric Mie scatterers to break the rotational symmetry of a microresonator, to demonstrate deterministic thermal tuning across a chiral EP, and to demonstrate EP-mediated chiral optical nonlinear response and efficient electro-optic tuning. Our results indicate asymmetric electro-optic modulation with up to 17dB contrast at GHz and CMOS-compatible voltage levels. Such wafer-scale nano-manufacturing of chiral electro-optic modulators and the chiral EP-tailored tunning may facilitate new micro-resonator functionalities in quantum information processing, electromagnetic wave control, and optical interconnects. © 2024, CC BY.

Measurement of peripheral nerve magnetostimulation thresholds of a head solenoid coil between 200 Hz and 88.1 kHz

Objective: Magnetic fields switching at kilohertz frequencies induce electric fields in the body, which can cause peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS). Although magnetostimulation has been extensively studied below 10 kHz, the behavior of PNS at higher frequencies remains poorly understood. This study aims to investigate PNS thresholds at frequencies up to 88.1 kHz and to explore deviations from the widely accepted hyperbolic strength-duration curve (SDC). Methods and procedures: PNS thresholds were measured in the head of 8 human volunteers using a solenoidal coil at 16 distinct frequencies, ranging from 200 Hz to 88.1 kHz. A hyperbolic SDC was used as a reference to compare the frequency-dependent behavior of PNS thresholds. Results: Contrary to the predictions of the hyperbolic SDC, PNS thresholds did not decrease monotonically with frequency. Instead, thresholds reached a minimum near 25 kHz, after which they increased by an average of 39% from 25 kHz to 88.1 kHz across subjects. This pattern indicates a significant deviation from previously observed behavior at lower frequencies. Conclusion: Our results suggest that PNS thresholds exhibit a non-monotonic frequency dependence at higher frequencies, diverging from the traditional hyperbolic SDC. These findings offer critical data for refining neurodynamic models and provide insights for setting PNS safety limits in applications like MRI gradient coils and magnetic particle imaging (MPI). Further investigation is needed to understand the biological mechanisms driving these deviations beyond 25 kHz. Clinical impact: These findings call for further basic research into biological mechanisms underlying high frequency PNS threshold trends, and supports refinement of safety guidelines for MRI and MPI systems for clinical implementation. © 2013 IEEE.

Food sustainability is still one of the main priorities for many countries as it contributes to the economy and stability of the nation. For government in many countries whose peoples consumes rice as its staple food, food self-sufficiency initiatives highly depend on accurate prediction of paddy field map. Mapping paddy field task is a challenging problem which cannot be handled manually especially when the paddy fields are spread out in very wide geographical areas such as those in Indonesia. Fortunately, wide availability of satellite imagery and the advent of deep learning technology in the past ten years have made it possible to improve efficiency of most parts of those manual works involving image semantic segmentation tasks. However, satellite image-based semantic segmentation is a challenging task. High object complexity, cloud partial occlusion, larger image size than a computer memory can stored can hinder accuracy of the image segmentation results. This paper presents a method for paddy field map generating using semantic image segmentation approach in which Pyramid Scene Parsing Net model is used for segmenting satellite imagery. The generated paddy map can be used as a basis for decision-making, especially in the agricultural sector. Analysis of local land use/land cover dynamics. The results of his experiments using SPOT 6 satellite imagery from the Pahung region of Central Kalimantan achieved average training accuracy, best training accuracy and test accuracy of 0.85, 0.86 and 0.89 respectively. These results indicated that the semantic segmentation model is suitable for addressing the same task in different crops.

When oil is released in ocean waters, some regions, e.g. shrimp farms, are susceptible to oil contamination, even at large distances from the spilling source. In this work, we focus on situations where the majority of the oil is expected to not reach these areas. Due to the interplay of advection and diffusion, still small amounts of oil endanger the region. Then, the effect of the pollution is governed by rare events of oil particles reaching the area under consideration posing a modeling *** compare predictions obtained (1) by GNOME (General NOAA Operational Modeling Environment), a tool developed and used by NOAA, and (2) simulation results from our adaptation of the Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) focusing on such areas at larger distances from the oil release. We illustrate the performance of both methods by considering a subarea of the Gulf of Mexico and obtaining the surface velocity field from the Unified Wave Interface-Coupled Model (UWIN-CM). Our initial findings are that the Lattice-Boltzmann approach, due to its algorithmic efficiency, shows advantages over GNOME and should be considered as a possible choice when using simulations in order to predict the likelihood of oil reaching regions far from the main oil spill. © 2023, The Authors. Topology can extract the structural information in a dataset efficiently. In this paper, we attempt to incorporate topological information into a multiple output Gaussian process model for transfer learning purposes. To achieve this goal, we extend the framework of circular coordinates into a novel framework of mixed valued coordinates to take linear trends in the time series into consideration. One of the major challenges to learn from multiple time series effectively via a multiple output Gaussian process model is constructing a functional kernel. We propose to use topologically induced clustering to construct a cluster based kernel in a multiple output Gaussian process model. This kernel not only incorporates the topological structural information, but also allows us to put forward a unified framework using topological information in time and motion series. The concept of smart building includes the optimization of energy usage in a building. One of the possible solutions for this is to adaptively adjust appliances utilization according to activity level in the building. Thus, an intelligent activity estimation system needs to be developed. However, massive annotated dataset is necessary to train the system. Therefore, we propose a system that enables rapid data annotation to collect the massive dataset. With the proposed system, an image can be annotated within 4.8 seconds in average. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This study aims to determine the effect of business strategy on the quality of accounting information, to determine the effect of leadership style on the quality of accounting information and to determine the effect of business processes on the quality of accounting information. This study uses primary data from a population of State-Owned Enterprises throughout Indonesia with a total sample of 61 state-owned enterprises, and is analyzed using a simultaneous equation estimation model or SEM (Structural Equation Modeling), the sample determination is done by purposive sampling. The results showed that (1) leadership style and business processes affect the quality of accounting information systems (2) business strategy has no effect on the quality of accounting information systems on accounting information systems at State-Owned Enterprises in Indonesia.

Distinct selectivity to the spin angular momenta of photons have garnered significant attention in recent years, for their relevance in basic science and for imaging and sensing applications. While nonlocal metasurfaces with strong chiral responses to the incident light have been reported, these responses are typically limited to a narrow range of incident angles. In this study, we demonstrate a nonlocal metasurface that showcases strong chirality, characterized by circular dichroism larger than 0.6, over a wide range of incident angles ±5o. Its quality factor, circular dichroism and resonant frequency can be optimized by design. These findings pave the way to further advance the development of valley-selective optical cavities and augmented reality applications. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
