In an attempt to bridge the semantic gap between language understanding and visuals, Visual Question Answering (VQA) offers a challenging intersection of computer vision and natural language processing. Large Language Models (LLMs) have shown remarkable ability in natural language understanding; however, their use in VQA, particularly for Arabic, is still largely unexplored. This study aims to bridge this gap by examining how well LLMs can improve VQA models. We use state-of-the-art AI algorithms on datasets from multiple fields, including electric devices, Visual Genome, RSVQA, and ChartsQA. We introduce ArabicQuest, a Text Question Answering (TQA) tool that combines Arabic inquiries with visual data. We assess the performance of LLMs across various question types and image settings and find that fine-tuning me thods su ch as LLaMA-2, BLIP-2, and Idefics-9B-Instruct models provide encouraging results, although challenges still arise in counting and comparison tasks. Our findings demonstrate the importance of advancing VQA further—especially for Arabic—to enhance accessibility and user satisfaction in a variety of applications.

Online discussion forums are widely used for active textual interaction between lecturers and students, and to see how the students have progressed in a learning process. The objective of this study is to compare appropriate machine-learning models to assess sentiments and Bloom's epistemic taxonomy based on textual comments in educational discussion forums. The proposed method is called the hierarchical approach of Bloom-Epistemic and Sentiment Analysis (BE-Sent). The research methodology consists of three main steps. The first step is the data collection from the internal discussion forum and YouTube comments of a Web programming channel. The next step is text preprocessing to annotate the text and clear unimportant words. Furthermore, with the text dataset that has been successfully cleaned, sentiment analysis and epistemic categorization will be done in each sentence of the text. Sentiment analysis is divided into three categories: positive, negative, and neutral. Bloom's epistemic is divided into six categories: remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating. This research has succeeded in producing a course learning subsystem that assesses opinions based on text reviews of discussion forums according to the category of sentiment and epistemic analysis. © 2024, CC BY-SA.

This study develops an adaptive handover strategy in 5G networks to tackle high mobility challenges and improve service continuity and quality. The research method uses a 5G network emulator with a topology of four base stations (gNBs) to test user equipment (UE) speeds of 20 km/h and 130 km/h. The adaptive algorithm developed utilizes data from the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) as well as the speed and direction of user mobility to make optimal handover decisions. The results show that at a speed of 130 km/h, the average handover latency reaches 12 ms, compared to 8 ms at 80 km/h. Additionally, the signal quality (RSSI) is lower at higher speeds, negatively affecting service quality. This adaptive algorithm successfully reduces handover latency and improves the stability and efficiency of the overall network. The testing also indicates that this adaptive algorithm can predict handover targets by considering UE speed and direction and uses hysteresis mechanisms to prevent overly frequent handovers. By employing technologies such as Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) and beamforming, this strategy is expected to maintain high service quality even under high mobility conditions. © 2024 IEEE.

Several challenges have emerged as a result of the rapid spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia. To combat the pandemic, the government has also issued general guidelines for avoiding/limiting direct contact with common people who do not live with them. However, in some unavoidable cases, such as cash transactions, the social distancing has not yet been followed properly. These type of challenges can be avoided by the introduction of e-wallets and e-money. This research study examines the transactions made using e-wallets and e-money and how these methods are increasing sales in public places. The proposed research study has attempted to utilize both qualitative and a quantitative method to observe the customer behavior while using e-wallet as a substitute for physical money when making a transaction in a shopping mall. The use of technology nowadays does not feel strange. Everyday people who use technology for their daily needs, starting with each other, seeking knowledge, can even earn income by doing business using technology. Social media is a tool that can be used by people to become with each other by creating, sharing, and exchanging information virtually through a network. However, in the current era, the notion of social media is not only about exchanging information, but also to support business products. The problem is how to compete tightly in this modern era in increasing the selling value of business products. The positive impact of social media for sales in business products are huge such as, increase sales, increase product promotion, greater market distribution. On the other side, the negative impact also takes part such as, the more competitors, the products compete fiercely in the market. This research aims to identify more the impact of social media on sales of business products that focused on business, benefit, and factor. The research method that we used is quantitative which focuses on the number of samples of respondents to support the research results and the results are in the form of a graphic that shows the answers of the respondents to the questionnaire. © 2023 IEEE.

Infertile patients may be a high-risk group of mental disorder. The precise identification of the mental status of infertile patients can provide decision support to healthcare professionals and may be helpful in providing preventive measures accordingly. Rare studies focused on the mental status identification using artificial intelligence (AI) models for infertile people. This study aimed to precisely identify the mental status (anxiety and depression) of infertile patients using three AI models, the XGBoost, decision tree, and stacking models. The dataset, retrieved from a structured questionnaire survey in 2011, which included 400 infertility outpatients seeking reproductive treatments at three teaching hospitals in Taiwan was adopted for training and testing AI models. Aforementioned AI models were designed and reached identification performances of accuracy, precision, recall and area under ROC curve (AUC) equaling 0.75–0.82, 0.70–0.80, 0.64–0.72, and 0.64–0.72, respectively. The XGBoost model (accuracy = 0.82, precision = 0.80, recall = 0.72, and AUC = 0.72) outperformed or equaled the decision tree and stacking models in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and AUC values. Designed AI models for mental status identification can be integrated into the clinical decision support system (CDSS) to provide the anxiety and depression group automatically. computer vision has emerged as an important subject of study, with several practical applications in a wide range of domains. OpenCV, a widely used framework, has played an important role in allowing computer vision tasks. This study presents an AI-driven Python implementation of the OpenCV framework to expand its capabilities. Data collecting and pre-processing, feature extraction, model selection and training, and Python-based system implementation are all part of the proposed system. A thorough examination of system performance indicates its advantage over competing approaches. The system’s flexibility enables it to handle a variety of computer vision tasks, such as gesture recognition, face detection, and object recognition. This paper advances AI-powered computer vision systems by providing significant insights into the implementation of OpenCV with Python. Some researchers find data with imbalanced class conditions, where there are data with a number of minorities and a majority. SMOTE is a data approach for an imbalanced classes and XGBoost is one algorithm for an imbalanced data problems. This research uses SMOTE and XGBoost or abbreviated as SMOTEXGBoost for handling data with an imbalanced classes. The results showed almost the same accuracy value between SMOTE and SMOTEXGBoost at 99%. While the value of AUC SMOTEXBoost has a more stable value than SMOTE that is equal to 99.89% for training and 98.51% for testing. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

At present, most of the domestic and foreign research on vehicle recognition focuses on real-time camera recognition in front of the vehicle while driving and real-time camera recognition over the road for overhead camera angles. For roads in mountainous areas or special terrain, due to the small hinterland on the left and right side of the road, it is not easy to set up overhead camera systems for the road. Therefore, this thesis proposes 'Yolo_v4-based road vehicle recognition' to solve the above problem. Unlike the overhead camera system, this side camera detachable temporary road vehicle recognition system only needs a very small road hinterland and can reduce the cost of space construction. The Yolo_V4 deep learning algorithm can accurately identify different vehicle types to ensure road safety and traffic monitoring. In this study, the accuracy of the vehicle recognition model for the side camera angle is 96%, which is comparable to the accuracy of the vehicle recognition model for the top camera angle. © 2022 IEEE.

Offsets Reconstruction Method for Clock Skew Measurement Over High-Jitter Communication

Measuring clock skew of devices over a network fully relies on the offsets, the differences between sending and receiving times. Offsets that shape a thick line are the most ideal one as their slope is directly the clock skew sought. When some outliers separate from the thick line due to higher delay jitter, current advanced approaches use the lower bound or the majority of offsets to derive accurate clock skew. However, outliers in offsets that shape parallel dotted lines, reduce the availability of offsets in the lower region, and scatter widely the offsets from their majority zone. These conditions drive the current skew estimation approaches to lose their accuracy. This paper then developed a new method, which reconstructs back the outliers into their origin positions, in order to provide ideal offsets for clock skew measurement. The experimental evaluations have demonstrated that the clock skew accuracy of dotted-lines offsets tampered by outliers was improved from 2.1 to 0.9 ppm by the proposed reconstruction method. For a broader purpose, the reconstruction method has been adjusted to be implemented also on non-dotted-lines offsets. The robustness of the proposed method for this case has also been exhibited by the very ideal reconstructed offsets that shape like a thick line. © The Author(s) 2025.
