As the global population ages, the number of elderly people needing hearing aids is increasing. This paper proposed an architecture designed to enhance speech based on noise conditions. After noise types are identified by a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) noise classification model, these noise conditions are combined with the noisy speech and input into a conditional Generative Adversarial Network (cGAN) for speech enhancement. The CNN noise classification model achieves an average recognition accuracy of nearly 92%, with a Kappa value as high as 0.88. The cGAN speech enhancement achieves lower error values in the Mel-Cepstral Distortion (MCD) measure. Although some parts of the human voice may be filtered out, the results demonstrate the potential development of the proposed algorithm.

Stock prices prediction is one of the most daunting tasks to achieve for day traders, investors, and data scientists. They are complex functions of a wide array of contributing factors that affects the movement dynamics. Politics, social outlook, the company's sales performance, and socio-economic factors all have an influence of how the stock is perceived globally and thus affecting the price movement based on the supply/demand balance. In this work a Framework is proposed to predict the price and movement direction by using multiple datasets that includes news sentiment, social sentiment, company earnings announcement, and technical indicators. A case study was applied on the Apple Inc. stock using Long short-term Memory Neural Networks (LSTM) and Deep Neural Networks (DNN). Results showed superiority of the LSTM model in both predicting stock value [75.4 MSE, +-2.52 PE] and the direction with [70.1% classification accuracy] over the DNN model which suffered from prediction lag and dependency on trend indicators achieving [53.1%] in predicting the direction of the stock. © 2020 IEEE.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the impact of social distance on people during COVID-19 pandemic using twitter sentiment analysis through a comparison between the k-means clustering and Mini-Batch k-means clustering approaches. To find the most common frequent words, two datasets have been investigated (WHO and Bahrain ministry of health datasets) to be as data preparation and exploration. Another two datasets (English and Arabic datasets) are used in the clustering of k-means. In this paper, a comparison between k-means and Mini-Batch k-means is performed to find a pattern. The word frequency shows that there are several words related to the pandemic. The sentiment analysis result show that in USA, Australia, Nigeria, Canada, and England, most tweets are neutral. However, the majority of tweets are positive tweets from both Italy and India. In addition, the k-means cluster in the English dataset reveals several cluster trends where COVID-19 pandemic procedures are addressed in cluster 1, and health workers are encouraged in cluster 3. © 2020 IEEE.

To emulate human emotions in robots, the mathematical representation of emotion is important for each component of affective computing, such as emotion recognition, generation, and expression. In a method that learns DNN from unimodality and represents emotions by vectors of continuous values (Emotional Space), the acquired Emotional Space is likely to depend on the modality, and considering the number of dimensions of Emotional Space is necessary. In this study, we aim at the acquisition of modality independent Emotional Space. We propose a method of acquiring Emotional Space by integrating multimodalities on a DNN and combining the emotion recognition task and unification task of Emotional Space of each modality. Through the experiments with audio-visual data, we confirmed in various dimensions of Emotional Space that there are differences in Emotional Space acquired from unimodality, and the proposed method can acquire a modality independent Emotional Space. We also investigated the compatibility of the recognition and the unification score by changing the number of dimensions of Emotional Space. Finally, we indicate the proposed method can acquire sufficient Emotional Space with a small number of dimensions, such as five or six dimensions, under this paper's experimental conditions. © 2020 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

Recognizing the tremendous improvements that the integration of generative AI can bring to intelligent transportation systems, this article explores the integration of generative AI technologies in vehicular networks, focusing on their potential applications and challenges. Generative AI, with its capabilities of generating realistic data and facilitating advanced decision-making processes, enhances various applications when combined with vehicular networks, such as navigation optimization, traffic prediction, data generation, and evaluation. Despite these promising applications, the integration of generative AI with vehicular networks faces several challenges, such as real-time data processing and decision-making, adapting to dynamic and unpredictable environments, as well as privacy and security concerns. To address these challenges, we propose a multi-modality semantic-aware framework to enhance the service quality of generative AI. By leveraging multi-modal and semantic communication technologies, the framework enables the use of text and image data for creating multi-modal content, providing more reliable guidance to receiving vehicles and ultimately improving system usability and efficiency. To further improve the reliability and efficiency of information transmission and reconstruction within the framework, taking generative AI-enabled vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) as a case study, a deep reinforcement learning (DRL)-based approach is proposed for resource allocation. Finally, we discuss potential research directions and anticipated advancements in the field of generative AI-enabled vehicular networks. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Patient-specific left ventricle (LV) myocardial models have the potential to be used in a variety of clinical scenarios for improved diagnosis and treatment plans. Cine cardiac magnetic resonance (MR) imaging provides high resolution images to reconstruct patient-specific geometric models of the LV myocardium. With the advent of deep learning, accurate segmentation of cardiac chambers from cine cardiac MR images and unsupervised learning for image registration for cardiac motion estimation on a large number of image datasets is attainable. Here, we propose a deep leaning-based framework for the development of patient-specific geometric models of LV myocardium from cine cardiac MR images, using the Automated Cardiac Diagnosis Challenge (ACDC) dataset. We use the deformation field estimated from the VoxelMorph-based convolutional neural network (CNN) to propagate the isosurface mesh and volume mesh of the end-diastole (ED) frame to the subsequent frames of the cardiac cycle. We assess the CNN-based propagated models against segmented models at each cardiac phase, as well as models propagated using another traditional nonrigid image registration technique. Additionally, we generate dynamic LV myocardial volume meshes at all phases of the cardiac cycle using the log barrier-based mesh warping (LBWARP) method and compare them with the CNN-propagated volume meshes. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The Mekong River Basin (MRB) is crucial for the livelihoods of over 60 million people across six Southeast Asian countries. Understanding long-term sediment changes is crucial for management and contingency plans, but the sediment concentration data in the MRB are extremely sporadic, making analysis challenging. This study focuses on reconstructing long-term suspended sediment concentration (SSC) data using a novel semi-supervised machine learning (ML) model. The key idea of this approach is to exploit abundant available hydroclimate data to reduce training overfitting rather than solely relying on sediment concentration data, thus enhancing the accuracy of the employed ML models. Extensive experiments on daily hydroclimate and SSC data obtained from 1979 to 2019 at the three main stations (i.e., Chiang Saen, Nong Khai, and Mukdahan) are conducted to demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed method compared to the state-of-the-art supervised techniques (i.e., Random Forest, XGBoost, CatBoost, MLP, CNN, and LSTM), and surpasses existing semi-supervised methods (i.e., CoReg, ⊓ Model, ICT, and Mean Teacher). This approach is the first semi-supervised method to reconstruct sediment data in the field and has the potential for broader application in other river systems. © 2024 The Author(s)

In 2022, tobacco was the top export commodity, generating $106.3 million in sales. East Java Province contributes significantly to Indonesia's tobacco production, with an annual output of 188.6 thousand tons. Jember Regency is the area in East Java Province which is a Kasturi tobacco cultivation area. The productivity of Kasturi tobacco continues to decrease due to several factors that can affect the survival of the tobacco. This study aims to analyze the survival of Kasturi tobacco by creating stratified Cox and extended Cox models in order to handle factors that cannot fulfill the proportional hazard assumption. Based on the results of the analysis, the stratified Cox model is the best model with AIC and BIC values of 798.108 and 805.5748 respectively, while the extended Cox has AIC and BIC values of 840.2186 and 850.1732 respectively. Variables that can significantly affect the survival of Kasturi tobacco are the variable concentration of ZA fertilizer, pesticide concentration. The addition of ZA fertilizer must be appropriate, because if excessive it can cause poisoning of tobacco plants. Likewise with pesticides, if excessive it will cause damage to the leaves. This policy can increase the productivity of Kasturi tobacco. Then, Jember Regency contributes greater export capacity. • This paper aims to determine the factors that affect the survival of Kasturi tobacco plants in Jember • By using the extended Cox model, the best one is obtained using the Heaviside function with AIC and BIC values of 840.2186 and 850.1732, respectively • The stratified Cox model is better than the extended Cox model, which has AIC and BIC values of 798.108 and 805.5748, respectively © 2025 The Author(s)

6G networks require ultra-low latency and intelligent resource management in IoT environments. Compute-First Networking (CFN), integrating distributed computing and edge caching, addresses backhaul congestion. This paper proposes CaRL, a DRL-based caching framework using TD3 algorithm. CaRL optimizes cache placement at edge nodes by incorporating real-time network state, content popularity, and resource utilization. Simulations show CaRL improves cache hit ratio, reduces latency, and enhances bandwidth efficiency, and ensures secure caching decisions under dynamic network conditions. Unlike existing methods, CaRL adapts to dynamic network conditions by integrating latency, CPU, and memory metrics, demonstrating scalability and adaptability in CFN-driven 6G environments. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

The spread of diseases transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, such as Dengue fever, Chikungunya (CHIKV), and Zika, poses a severe health problem in many countries. Aedes mosquitoes can be found in tropical and subtropical areas. One method to control the diseases is by controlling the population of Aedes mosquitoes, and one way to control the population of Aedes mosquito is by exterminating Aedes mosquito larvae. Identifying mosquito larvae, however, demands a considerable amount of effort, time, and specialized knowledge about the morphology and anatomy of mosquito larvae to accurately classify the various types. Therefore, a system is needed to classify Aedes and non-Aedes mosquito larvae. In this study, classification was carried out using larvae images taken using a digital microscope. The methods used to classify mosquito larvae images are Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) to extract features from the larvae image and Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) to classify the larvae image. The result obtained from evaluating the CNN-ELM model is an accuracy of 98%, f1-score of 99% for Aedes larvae, and fl-score of 96% for non-Aedes larvae.
