Due to the issue of population aging faced by Taiwan, the government is implementing policies on encouraging the elderly to engage in social activities in their life after retirement, so as to enable them to enjoy a contented and happy retirement life and further forget their ages. In the population aging society, the elderly have an increasingly greater demand for ecotourism. Therefore, in this study, by taking ecotourism as an example, a research on the engagement of the elderly in technology enhanced interactive scenarios of ecotourism was conducted. Purpose of this study was mainly to propose the design system of technology enhanced interactive scenarios suitable for experience of the elderly. In this study, experience demands of the elderly were understood through relevant literature review, preliminary survey and field survey. Subsequently, design concepts of interactive scenarios were proposed through Scenario Approach and a prototype of interactive scenario was designed through Rapid Prototyping Method. Research results: a total of 8 concepts of interactive scenarios were proposed in this study through demand investigation, including provision of experience information, voice guide experience, enhancement of experience fun, trigger of experience scenario, enhancement of intellectual fun, basic knowledge query, enhancement of sensory experience, and sharing and memory. At last, the prototype of "i-Travel" interactive experience scenario was proposed through Prototyping Method. The interactive system consists of 8 interactive scenario concepts, experience contents and navigation design, design of scenario navigation APP, etc. Results of this study will be applied for subsequent assessment and validation of scenario experience awareness of this system. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This paper proposes a context-aware approach that recommends music to a user based on the user's emotional state predicted from the article the user writes. We analyze the association between user-generated text and music by using a real-world dataset with tripartite information collected from the social blogging website LiveJournal. The audio information represents various perceptual dimensions of music listening, including danceability, loudness, mode, and tempo;the emotional text information consists of bag-of-words and three dimensional affective states within an article: valence, arousal and dominance. To combine these factors for music recommendation, a factorization machine- based approach is taken. Our evaluation shows that the emotional context information mined from user-generated articles does improve the quality of recommendation, com- paring to either the collaborative filtering approach or the content-based approach. This paper proposes to apply the continuous vector representations of words for discovering keywords from a financial sentiment lexicon. In order to capture more keywords, we also incorporate syntactic information into the Continuous Bag-of- Words (CBOW) model. Experimental results on a task of financial risk prediction using the discovered keywords demonstrate that the proposed approach is good at predicting financial risk. © 2014 Association for Computational Linguistics.

How will the reputations of individuals in a social network be influenced by their communities in a quantitative way? This work attempts to observe the collaborative events occurring at individuals involved in a social network to obtain such crucial knowledge. We propose a Factorization Machine approach to find out the latent social influence among the individuals based on their collaborations. Experiments conducted on a real-world DBLP dataset verify that the proposed approach can discover the latent social influence among individuals and provide a better predictive model than several baselines. © 2015 ACM.

Many researchers have pointed out that cognitive training can improve the cognitive function of patients with dementia. Therefore, our research developed a digital cognitive application system, "Reminiscence", to observe the brainwave of patients with dementia through cognitive training and to analyze its influence on concentration, memory, and logic. In this study, a total of 16 patients with mild dementia (CDR 0.5 and 1) participated in the measurement of brainwave by using the NeuroSky EEG system in the digital cognitive nostalgia system. The cognitive training is divided into seven parts: photo sharing, song singing, questions in logic, number operation, jigsaw puzzle, weight identification, and silhouette puzzle. Among the seven question types of cognitive training in this experiment, the six items of photo sharing, song singing, questions in logic, number operation, jigsaw puzzle, weight identification, and silhouette puzzle had a good impact on dementia patients and helped their concentration. The improvement of memory and logic had a positive effect on the delay of cognitive function degradation of patients with dementia. The purpose of this study is to stimulate and improve the cognitive function of patients with dementia, thus delaying dementia. This research serves as a reference for the future development of technology-assisted applications for patients with dementia who need cognitive training. © 2021 ECBIOS 2021. All rights reserved.

Global aging is an important issue for global development. Elderly people should not be the burden of individual families, but the assets of the entire society. With the help of life stories or past events that elderly people often repeat, we can better understand the importance of certain things. Therefore, life review is a normal and necessary process that can help the elderly to review past experience with a rational attitude, help them to find the meaning of life, and see the essence of their life. The interviews in this study used Nvivo qualitative software to record and analyze the life stories of 4 elderly people in southern Taiwan, in order to understand the important memories and emotions in their lives, discover the background factors of elderly people recalling their life, and maintain precious human stories for families and society via recording and saving. Guiding the elderly to review their lives through nostalgic narrative has the function of storied therapy, and its values include: personal self-identification, rebuilding the integrity of life through memories, and helping the elderly to reposition themselves in a lonely life through their past experience. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This study aims to develop a user-center design;UCD English learning toy for children to learn English. The research mainly used qualitative interviews to make a recording and conversation with the children. From observing the users' interaction with the toy, the researchers can record a unique learning process and emotional fluctuation from the children. By doing a comprehensive evaluation, the analytical items include participants' emotion, facial expression, speaking, and motion factors. In addition, the research sought whether the children can use the toy's voice functioning to recognize the English word or a sentence from the word cards. The study results have shown that the English learning toy increased the children's curiosity, motivation and imagination during the interactive process with the toy. © 2017 Asia-Pacific Society for Computers in Education. Reinforcement Learning (RL) is an extraordinarily paradigm that aims to solve a complex problem. This technique leverages the traditional feedforward networks with temporal-difference learning to overcome supervised and unsupervised real-world problems. However, RL is one of state-of-the-art topic due to the opaque aspects in design and implementation. Also, in which situation we will get performance gain from RL is still unclear. Therefore, This study firstly examines the impact of Experience Replay in Deep Q-Learning agent with Self-Driving Car application. Secondly, The impact of Eligibility Trace in RNN A3C agents with Breakout AI game application is studied. Our results indicated that these two techniques enhance RL performance by more than 20 percent as compared with traditional RL methods. © 2019 IEEE.

This paper proposes a music recommendation approach based on various similarity information via Factorization Machines (FM). We introduce the idea of similarity, which has been widely studied in the filed of information retrieval, and incorporate multiple feature similarities into the FM framework, including content-based and context-based similarities. The similarity information not only captures the similar patterns from the referred objects, but enhances the convergence speed and accuracy of FM. In addition, in order to avoid the noise within large similarity of features, we also adopt the grouping FM as an extended method to model the problem. In our experiments, a music-recommendation dataset is used to assess the performance of the proposed approach. The datasets is collected from an online blogging Web site, which includes user listening history, user profiles, social information, and music information. Our experimental results show that, with various types of feature similarities the performance of music recommendation can be enhanced significantly. Furthermore, via the grouping technique, the performance can be improved significantly in terms of Mean Average Precision, compared to the traditional collaborative filtering approach.

Dementia is a very common disease among the elderly, and its main symptom is cognitive dysfunction. Relevant research suggests that the course of dementia can be delayed through non-pharmacological intervention. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to develop a cognitive training system with the aid of digital technology to help people with dementia strengthen their brain and slow their cognitive function degradation. This research cooperates with the Changhua Christian Hospital in Taiwan, and the research subjects are a total of 16 mild dementia patients with an average age of 79.6 years old, who are divided into a traditional group and a digital group. The experimental tool is the "Recall" digital cognitive application system, as developed by this research, which includes sharing nostalgic storytelling and the introduction of technology for cognitive training. There are five types of systematic cognitive training questions: quiz questions, calculation questions, puzzle questions, weight questions, and silhouette questions, which mainly train memory, logic, and concentration. After treatment, the subjects are investigated via behavior observation, questionnaires, and interviews to learn their perceptions of the usability and experience of digital cognitive application systems for patients with dementia, and the Pearson correlation coefficient is used to analyze the relevance of the four factors of the experience, namely, feel, sense, relate, and think. The results show that the experience of using this system is significantly related in the factors of sense, relate, and think. On the whole, the application system developed in this research should have benefit in the introduction of technology into reminiscence therapy for patients with mild dementia via cognitive training through games. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
