Effects of incorporating a two-tier assessment-based guiding mechanism into contextual games on students’ learning achievement and behaviors in horticultural education

Digital games have been used in various disciplines to enhance students’ learning interest and effectiveness through the gaming contexts. However, most of the digital educational games use multiple-choice questions to confirm students’ learning status, implying the challenge of understanding the actual learning status of students. Also, the gaming system cannot analyze the possible reasons for students’ wrong answers and so provide suggestions. Therefore, this study proposed a two-tier assessment-based contextual gaming (TTA-CG) approach to confirm whether students correctly answer the questions based on the right reasons as well as identifying the reasons for students’ wrong answers. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, a quasi-experiment was conducted in a horticulture course. Two classes of first-year vocational high school students were recruited as the participants. One class with 35 students was the experimental group learning with the TTA-CG approach;the other class with 35 students was the control group adopting the conventional contextual gaming (C-CG) approach. The experimental results showed that the TTA-CG approach was more effective than the C-CG approach in terms of enhancing students’ learning achievement, motivation, and self-efficacy. In addition, there was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of cognitive load. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Knowledge resource and information system/technology (IS/IT) capability have been considered to improve firm performance, however there is still a gap regarding the sustainability of supply chain to face and recover from disruption (e.g., COVID-19). The Nusantara traditional wastra (NTW) is the Indonesian biodiversity product that has not been formally identified as the national referral and has yet been commercially oriented. The research objectives were to formulate the understanding of NTW dan to construct a valid architecture design of the Nusantara Traditional Wastra Digital Repository (NTWDR). It was described as implementing the digital inventory business in the form of a smart portal template that acted as an infinite window of the complete Indonesian traditional wastra and as a marketplace for the Indonesian traditional wastra value chain. The research used the Neuroresearch approach of exploratory research through literature studies and FGD with the Delphi Technique for the validity of the design. The NTW's boundaries and the NTWDR's design in the form of a portal-based website are set as the results. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

A short ***-style design thinking project was offered to first-year engineering students as an option in an introduction to engineering course. Using the Stanford *** bootcamp bootleg as the guideline, students went through the process - empathy, define, ideate, prototype, and test - very fast with different levels of depth. The works were evaluated using the *** rubric and found to gain limited success. In order to improve the instructional design, the formal developmental study was initiated. Using class observation, focus-group interview and comparison with similar classes, the instructional design was analyzed and weakness identified. The major problems included the student preparation, engagement, participation, core concept understanding as well as active learning activities, technology utilization, feedback and reflection, in short, the class control and facilitation. The instruction design was adjusted with detailed activities such that it would be implemented in the next iteration. © 2019 IEEE.

This paper aims to create a concept for the UI (User Interface) design for the NTWDR (Nusantara Traditional Wastra Digital Repository) with a touch of Indonesian local wisdom focusing on the implementation of Visual communication Design and the implementation of eight golden rules of UI web-based and mobile applications to the NTWDR (Nusantara Traditional Wastra Digital Repository). The research is essential as kick-off research to the UX (User Experience) research that will be conducted after the UI (User Interface) is done. The research adapted the Design Thinking method of IDEO and Stanford ***: Empathize, Interpretation, Ideation, Experimentation, and Test. It was designed with a simple sitemap that easy to follow and directly to the core of data. The uses of Nusantara colors and the interweaving of the intangible culture values of each NTW (Nusantara Traditional Wastra) are visual concepts behind each page of the NTWDR UI (Nusantara Traditional Wastra Digital Repository User Interface) design. The Result is the enchanting visual design representing Nusantara's diversity that attracts to be experienced and surfed.

Objectives: This study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the P4 suicide screener in a multinational sample. The primary goal was to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale and investigate its convergent validity by analyzing its correlation with depression, anxiety, and substance use. Study design: The study design is a cross-sectional self-report study conducted across 42 countries. Methods: A cross-sectional, self-report study was conducted in 42 countries, with a total of 82,243 participants included in the final data set. Results: The study provides an overview of suicide ideation rates across 42 countries and confirms the structural validity of the P4 screener. The findings indicated that sexual and gender minority individuals exhibited higher rates of suicidal ideation. The P4 screener showed adequate reliability, convergence, and discriminant validity, and a cutoff score of 1 is recommended to identify individuals at risk of suicidal behavior. Conclusions: The study supports the reliability and validity of the P4 suicide screener across 42 diverse countries, highlighting the importance of using a cross-cultural suicide risk assessment to standardize the identification of high-risk individuals and tailoring culturally sensitive suicide prevention strategies. © 2024 The Royal Society for Public Health

The Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test (ASSIST) is an instrument to screen substance-use-related health risks. However, little is known whether the ASSIST could be further shortened while remaining psychometrically sound across different countries, languages, gender identities, and sexual-orientation-based groups. The study aimed to validate a shortened 11-item ASSIST (ASSIST-11). Using the International Sex Survey data, 82,243 participants (M _age = 32.39 years) across 42 countries and 26 languages completed questions from the ASSIST-11 regarding gender identity, sexual orientation, and other information. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and multigroup CFA (MGCFA) evaluated the ASSIST-11's structure and tested measurement invariance across groups. Cronbach's α and McDonald's ω were used to examine the internal consistency. Cohen's d and independent t-tests were used to examine known-group validity. The ASSIST-11 was unidimensional across countries, languages, age groups, gender identities (i.e., men, women, and gender-diverse individuals), and sexual orientations (i.e., heterosexual and sexual minority individuals). Cronbach's α was 0.63 and McDonald's ω was 0.68 for the ASSIST-11. Known-group validity was supported by Cohen's d (range between 0.23 and 0.40) with significant differences (p-values<0.001). The ASSIST-11 is a modified instrument with a unidimensional factor structure across different languages, age groups, countries, gender identities, and sexual orientations. The low internal consistency of the ASSIST-11 might be acceptable as it assesses a broad concept (i.e., use of several different substances). Healthcare providers and researchers may use the ASSIST-11 to quickly assess substance-use information from general populations and evaluate the need to follow up with more detailed questions about substance use. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd

technology alone cannot bridge the digital divide between and within countries. Knowledge societies ultimately depend on people's access to media and information and their ability to locate, evaluate and use information effectively. Media and Information Literacy (MIL) represents essential competencies and skills to equip citizens in the 21st century with the abilities to engage with media and information systems effectively and develop critical thinking and life-long learning skills to socialize and become active citizens. This study was conducted in the high school, Khon Kaen, Thailand and investigated students' attitudes and media and information literacy while working on a problem-based learning that was embedded within a digital learning environment based on constructivist. We studied the impact of learning with digital learning environment on high school students. Students worked in groups and created solution task with digital and media technology. From a survey questionnaire, the students showed positive attitudes towards the task with respect to their learning motivation and understanding, and skills. By incorporating multi-learning task into a constructivist learning environment, students learned to access, evaluate and use media and information, as well as to experience critical-Thinking, creative, presentation and communication skills. The results from a MIL competencies test showed that the students who learn with a digital learning environment to enhance media and information literacy can access information effectively and efficiently, evaluates information critically and competently, and applies and uses information accurately and creatively. Our findings provide strong support and encouragement for Thai educators to incorporate media and information literacy task and constructivist learning into the classrooms for the enhancement of teaching and learning in 21st century.
