Electromagnetic properties of coal using microstrip and an algorithm based on the Nicolson-Ross-Weir method

The work implements an experimental methodology to find the dielectric parameters: electrical permittivity, effective permittivity, magnetic permeability, conductivity, absorption coefficient, impedance, and loss tangent of bituminous coal from the municipality of Morcá and Tópaga belonging to the Sogamoso-Jericó sub-basin of the Guaduas formation, one of the most important coal reserves in Colombia. The methodology, known for its efficiency, includes constructing a microstrip-type circuit, measuring scattering parameters or S-parameters at frequencies between 300 kHz and 1 GHz with a vector network analyzer, and extracting electromagnetic properties using the Nicolson-Ross-Weir algorithm. The implemented algorithm allowed us to see the behavior of the coal in a fraction of the ultra-high frequency band and to find quickly and easily the approximate values of the parameters as a function of frequency, which are very important for investigations in mathematical modeling and computational electromagnetics. The results show that the real and imaginary components of the relative dielectric permittivity decrease with increasing frequency, and the absorption coefficient and the loss tangent of the coal increase as a function of frequency, indicating that the coal behaves as a dissipative dielectric. © The Author(s) 2024.

This paper presents a method for building Coordinated-axis Weight (CW) that has the advantage can be used to increase the speed for converting image data into the domain of real-time trace transforms. The main idea for this method is to use a feature reduction method for image data that must be used in cooperation with supervised machine learning outcome predictions. But the obtained result still retains the distinctive features of the data image in the form of a trace transform. Start by reducing the number of features from the image data, which will be used to reduce the size of the image to the appropriate image size, which in this article will reduce the image size to 45x45 pixels. The next step is to train the data using a Decision Tree (DT) method by aligning the reduced image data in a 1D model. In addition to the image data, two more features are added, i.e. the φ and ρ positions, to inform the prediction that each position has a different value. And the last step is to bring the data to create a model for predicting the answer. The weights obtained from the model are called Coordinated-axis Weights (CW). The experiments within this paper were experimented using the Caltech-256 database, which was able to measure the MSE, RMSE, and PNSR of the images compared to the original trace transform response images at 4.1, 2.02, and 42.00, respectively, including the highest predictive speed of 0.2 ms per image. © 2023 IEEE.

Classification of objects using YOLO deep learning is currently very popular. When the discovered object is rotated, however, the pre-trained YOLO model frequently generates incorrect answer predictions. In order to improve the accuracy of the YOLO deep learning pre-trained model, we present in this paper a method for rotating an object's image back to its initial gain using the DFTF algorithm. The DFTF algorithm is designed to take the results of the trace transform and accumulate the values for each column in order to predict the object's degree of rotation. The results of this calculation are then used to rotate the object back to its normal axis. The experiment is therefore a collaboration between YOLO and DFTF with the aim of more accurately predicting the object's responses. Five groups of data will be chosen for experimentation, each of which can be used to determine the precision of the experimental image with rotational issues. The average of accuracy is 98.56%. © 2023 IEEE.

With the increasing development of the Internet of Things (IoT), there is a growing need for efficient resource allocation to the many devices in the IoT system. This need is particularly acute in the case of time-sensitive applications, where fast resource allocation is essential. However, the resource allocation based on the Nash bargaining solution (NBS) necessitates exponentially increasing computational complexity for user dynamic systems. We propose an approach that makes groups based on the requested services and predicts a disagreement point whenever the group size changes, with the aim of reducing the computational complexity to find the NBS. Through simulation results, we demonstrate that our proposed approach outperforms the existing method in terms of execution time to find the NBS, maintaining the optimality in finding NBS. © 2023 IEEE.

The increasing popularity of Internet of Things (IoT) devices has brought significant security challenges to IoT networks. However, most deep learning-based anomaly detection solutions often require high computation performance so that it is difficult to be implanted on low-end IoT devices with limited power and memory capacity. In this paper, we propose a low-complexity network anomaly detection method based on feature selection using the Shapley value for the Isolation Forest algorithm. The proposed feature selection method using the Shapley value can reduce the dimension of input data, thereby improving the performance with reduced computational complexity. We provide simulation results to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The results show that the proposed method based on Isolation Forest achieves comparable performance to the deep learning method based on neural networks while using fewer dimensions than the deep learning method. © 2023 IEEE.

The importance of video compression technology is highly emphasized according to the advancement of display technology which plays a crucial role in many industries. Video compression technology is important in the aspect of reducing bandwidth usage, optimizing storage space, and enhancing the efficiency of data transmission. Video electronics Standards Association (VESA) Display Compression-M (VDC-M) video compression standard [1], as released by the VESA, shows high compression ratio and high performance. In this paper, we propose a hardware architecture for transform entropy decoding which supports the VDC-M standard. It can extract and align quantized coefficients which are transmitted from encoder to decoder for reconstruction. The utilization of optimized entropy coding techniques enhances the overall performance, making the proposed hardware architecture contribute to advanced video compression in modern display technologies. © 2024 IEEE.

Detecting the location of high-speed moving objects is a critical issue in various fields including the medical, emergence service, aerospace, defense areas, etc. In general, Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) and Frequency Difference of Arrival (FDOA) techniques are primarily used for estimating the location of a moving object. Although these techniques provide excellent estimation performance for the stationary or low speed moving object, they may have significant location estimation errors for the high-speed object moving. In order to improve this problem, this paper introduces the combined localization method based on TDOA and FDOA for estimating the location of high-speed moving objects efficiently. © 2024 IEEE.

With the innovation of hardware equipment, the development of artificial intelligence has broken through the limitations of the past. Neural networks have been continuously deepened to improve the accuracy of detection, so that the parameters have increased with a direct proportional rate. In this way, however, high energy consumption has been induced which obstacles the deployment of AI algorithms on portable devices. Therefore, the design of neural network must consider not only detection accuracy but also energy efficiency. In this paper, we analyzed energy consumption, detection accuracy and execution speed of our neural network model as well as the state-of-the-art models based on an FPGA platform called ZCU-102. We adopt the performance index from Low Power Computer Vision (LPCV) challenge which considers power dissipation, mean Average Precision (mAP) and Frames Per Second (FPS) at the same time to evaluate these models in an overall point of view. Agilev4 can achieve 59.9% of mAP@50 on MS COCO test-dev2017 datasets. If the input frame resolution is turned into 416 × 416, the processing frame rate can reach 20.7 FPS on ZCU-102. Compared with the state-of-the-art models, the LPCV score of Agilev4-416 is 1475. S which is 1.56 times of that of YOLOv4-416. © 2022 IEEE.

In this study, we aimed to develop LED lighting with an emission spectrum effective for microalgae propagation, and fabricated LED lighting with Phosphor layer RGB, which has peaks in the red, green, and blue wavelength bands, and Phosphor layer RG'B', which has broader peaks in the red, green, and blue wavelength bands. In order to examine the effect of microalgae propagation, Closterium ehrenbergii samples prepared at different dilution rates were irradiated with LED illumination light of Phosphor layer RG'B' and Phosphor layer RGB, respectively, for 7 days, and their propagation rates were compared. The results of the experiment showed that Phosphor layer RG'B' produced a higher propagation rate than Phosphor layer RGB. © 2024 IEEE.
