Compositionally complex solid electrolyte(Li_(0.375)Sr_(0.4375))(Ta_(0.375)Nb_(0.375)Zr_(0.125)Hf_(0.125))O_(3)(LSTNZH)samples are synthesized using different sintering temperatures,durations,and cooling conditions(furnace cooling(FC)*** quenching(AQ)).The temperature-dependent grain growth has been examined to investigate the microstructural evolution and the origin of exaggerated(abnormal)grain *** moderate temperatures,the grain growth of LSTNZH follows a cubic root growth model with an Arrhenius temperature *** increasing temperature,bimodal microstructures develop,and the Arrhenius temperature dependence breaks ***,increasing the temperature induces increased Nb segregation at general grain boundaries(GBs),in contrast to classical GB segregation models but suggesting premelting-like GB disordering,which can explain the observed abnormal grain growth(AGG).In addition,the large grains become faceted with increasing temperature,which occurs concurrently with the temperature-induced transitions in GB segregation and grain growth,thereby further supporting the occurrence of a GB phase-like(complexion)*** impacts on the densification,ionic conductivity,and hardness are also *** work provides a new insight into the fundamental understanding of the grain growth mechanisms of the emergent class of medium-and high-entropy compositionally complex ceramics(CCCs),which is essential for tailoring microstructures and material properties.

Spectroscopic identification of distinct nonlinear photocurrents unveils quantum geometric properties of electron wave functions and the momentum-space topological structures. This is especially interesting, but still puzzling, for chiral topological semimetals with possibilities of hosting giant quantized circular photogalvanic effect. Here we report a comprehensive terahertz (THz) emission spectroscopic analysis of nonlinear photoconductivity of chiral multifold CoSi at 0.26 ∼ 1 eV. We find a large linear shift conductivity (17µA/V2), and confirm a giant injection conductivity (167µA/V2) as a consequence of strongly interfered nonquantized contributions from the vicinity of multifold nodes with opposite chiralities. The bulk injection current excited by the pump field with a complex wave vector is shown to carry both longitudinal and transverse components. Symmetry analyses further unveil weak nonlocal photon drag effect in addition to the photogalvanic effect. This work not only highlights chiral transition-metal monosilicides for midinfrared photovoltaic applications via various nonlinear optical channels, but also consolidates the THz spectroscopy for quantitative photovoltaic research.

Fruits,vegetables,and dairy products are typically the primary sources of household food ***,anaerobic digestion is the most used bioprocess for the treatment of food waste with concomitant generation of ***,to achieve a circular carbon economy,the organics in food waste should be converted to new chemicals with higher value than *** we demonstrate the feasibility of medium-chain carboxylic acid(MCCA)production from expired dairy and beverage waste via a chain elongation platform mediated by *** a two-stage fermentation process,the first stage with optimized operational conditions,including varying temperatures and organic loading rates,transformed expired dairy and beverage waste into lactate at a concentration higher than 900 mM C at 43℃.This lactate was then used to produce>500 mM C caproate and>300 mM C butyrate via microbial chain ***,lactate-producing microbes such as Lactobacillus and Lacticaseibacillus were regulated by temperature and could be highly enriched under mesophilic conditions in the firststage *** the second-stage chain elongation reactor,the dominating microbes were primarily from the genera Megasphaera and Caproiciproducens,shaped by varying feed and inoculum *** network analysis revealed positive correlations among species from the genera Caproiciproducens,Ruminococcus,and CAG-352,as well as Megasphaera,Bacteroides,and Solobacterium,indicating strong microbial interactions that enhance caproate *** findings suggest that producing MCCAs from expired dairy and beverage waste via lactate-mediated chain elongation is a viable method for sustainable waste management and could serve as a chemical production platform in the context of building a circular bioeconomy.
