Biochar has a large specific surface area,well-developed pore structure,abundant surface functional groups,and superior nutrient supply capacity,which is widely available and environmentally friendly with its advantages in waste resource utilization,heavy metal(loid)remediation,and carbon *** review focuses on the interactions between biochar(including raw biochar,functional biochar(modified/engineered/designer biochar),and composite biochar)and rhizosphere during the remediation of soil contaminated with heavy metal(loid)s(Pb,As,Cd,Hg,Co,Cu,Ni,Zn,Cr,etc.)and the effects of these interactions on the microbial communities and root exudates(enzymes and low-molecular-weight organic acids(LMWOAs)).In terms of microorganisms,biochar affects the composition,diversity,and structure of microbial communities through the supply of nutrients,provision of microbial colonization sites,immobilization of heavy metal(loid)s,and introduction of exogenous *** regard to root exudates,biochar provides electron transfer support between the microorganisms and exudates,regulates the secretion of enzymes to resist the oxidative stress stimulated by heavy metal(loid)s,ameliorates rhizosphere acidification caused by LMWOAs,and promotes the activity of soil *** roles and mechanisms of biochar on rhizosphere soils are discussed,as well as the challenges of biochar in the remediation of heavy metal(loid)-contaminated soils,and the issues that need to be addressed in future research are foreseen.

The dynamics of the Antarctic ice sheet are key factors affecting global climate *** project future sea level changes,ice sheet models are developed based on a discrete grid system,which profoundly impacts the accuracy of numerical *** comprehensively explore the sensitivity of ice modeling performance to grid resolution,this study focused on the Amery Ice Shelf(AmIS),the largest glacial flow system in east *** ten grid resolutions(nine sets of structured grids ranging from 2 to 30 km and one set of adaptive unstructured grid from 1 to 20 km),we conducted a series of inversion experiments and diagnostic perturbation *** findings reveal a high sensitivity of both inversion parameters,the rate factor and basal slipperiness,as well as Grounding Line Flux(GLF)and Volume Above Floatation(VAF),to the grid *** observed that for the AmIS,grid resolutions coarser than 10 km in our model introduce considerable noise and reduce the ability to capture realistic dynamic ***,we found that the inversion parameters were transferable between grid systems of different resolutions,and the AmIS exhibited a consistent response to idealized collapse scenarios across these grid systems,particularly for grids with a resolution of 10 km or *** study extends the previous ice sheet model intercomparison experiments from synthetic topography to realistic geometry and provides insights for future ice modeling studies on grid systems configurations.
