The average model of DC-DC converters is commonly used to analyze the control stability and dynamics of switched-mode converters. Although the average model of the boost converter (BC) in the continuous conduction mode (CCM) and the discontinuous conduction modes (DCM) is well-covered in the literature, the modelling and control of the DCM-operated BC with the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) has not been paid much attention. In this paper, a comprehensive state-space averaged model of DCM-operated BC fed by photovoltaic (PV) source is derived. Higher-order, lower-order, reduced-order, and full-order models are considered. MATLAB simulation is used to verify the derived models. The converter dynamics were analyzed based on the bode-plot and the step-response for each model. Results show that the lower-full-order model is considered the most suitable choice for modelling the DCM-operated boost converter. © 2024 IEEE.

Indonesia has entered a period of demographic bonus. Human resources must be optimized. The number of children who do not in employment, education or training (NEET) in each province needs attention. Several factors that could contribute to the decline in the NEET percentage are literacy rates and the number of adolescents with computer skills. Increasing these two factors is believed to be able to reduce the percentage of NEET in every province in Indonesia. To find out the relationship between these two factors and how much influence they have on the percentage of NEET, this research is modeled by Cauchy regression and includes spatial effects. The results of the analysis show that the best model is when the spatial effect is modeled by Fernandez Steel Skew Normal conditionally autoregressive (FSSN CAR). This result is seen from the smallest value of the Watanabe Akaike Information Criterion (WAIC) in this model, which is 190.5. The parameter estimated shows that the higher the literacy rate and the number of adolescents with computer skills, the lower the percentage of NEET in each province in Indonesia. The results of this research can be useful for the Indonesian government to increase the number of educational facilities related to these two factors. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). Lakeside Café, located in the Telkom University, processes approximately 80-100 drink transactions daily. Having used their current point-of-sale (POS) application for over a year, an urgent evaluation of its performance and user satisfaction is necessary to ensure ongoing efficiency. This study employs the System Usability Scale (SUS) model and the Extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (EUCS) model. This combined approach enhances the understanding of the application's strengths and identifies areas for improvement, forming a solid foundation for evaluating user satisfaction. The study reveals notable usability of the Lakeside Café POS application, evidenced by an SUS score of 78.8, ranking it as "ACCEPTABLE"and "GOOD."The EUCS model analysis further highlights potential enhancements, with the Content and Functionality dimensions scoring 3.5 and 3.65, respectively, indicating room for workflow process development. These findings emphasize the need for improved content delivery and strengthened application functionality to boost user satisfaction and maximize system performance. This research enriches the dialogue on technological acceptance, providing valuable insights for developers and stakeholders focused on advancing POS applications. The use of SUS and EUCS models offers a comprehensive evaluation method, fostering continuous advancements and innovations in digital solutions within the food and beverage sector. © 2024 IEEE.

Quantum-Chiplet: A Novel Python-Based Efficient and Scalable Design Methodology for Quantum Circuit Verification and Implementation

Analysis and verification of quantum circuits are highly challenging, given the exponential dependence of the number of states on the number of qubits. For analytical derivation, we propose a new quantum polynomial representation (QPR) to facilitate the analysis of massively parallel quantum computation and detect subtle errors. For the verification of quantum circuits, we introduce Quantum-Chiplet, a hierarchical quantum behavior modeling methodology that facilitates rapid integration and simulation. Each chiplet is systematically transformed into quantum gates. For circuits involving n qubits and k quantum gates, the design complexity is reduced from "greater than O(2n)" to O(k). This approach provides an open-source solution, enabling a highly customized solution for quantum circuit simulation within the native Python environment, thereby reducing reliance on traditional simulation packages. A quantum amplitude estimation example demonstrates that this method significantly improves the design process, with more than 10x speed-up compared to IBM Qiskit at 14 qubits. Postdoctoral training positions are becoming more common in the human factors and ergonomics (HFE) discipline. However, conversations related to training in the HFE discipline have largely focused on undergraduate and graduate education. This panel assembles both postdoctoral mentors and former trainees who collectively have a diverse set of HFE-related postdoctoral experiences. By panelists discussing their experiences, observations, and recommendations related to postdoctoral training with the audience, the panel session will support HFE faculty and students in making more informed decisions about if and how a postdoctoral experience (either as a mentor or trainee) could be a part of their career development in HFE. © 2023 Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.

This work presents experimental electrical characteristics and circuit prediction at cryogenic temperatures (down to 10 K) for three different kinds of germanium (Ge)-based FETs with advanced Fin/GAA structures. Among them, the layer transferred Ge-on-Insulator (GeOI) FinFET significantly improves its I-V characteristic during cryogenic measurements, such as a steeper subthreshold swing at 10K and a better Ion. The developed GeOI fabrication method provides an effective way to eliminate the defects originating from misfit dislocations at the Ge/Si substrate during epitaxial growth, which would be treated as the key to device performance enhancement under 10 K. According to the measured IV at 10 K and circuit prediction, GeOI FinFETs with high Ge crystallinity are strong candidates for High-Performance-computing (HPC) applications. © 2023 IEEE.
