Assessing the Quality of Biomedical Boolean Search Strings Generated by Prompted and Unprompted Models Using ChatGPT: A Pilot Study

This pilot study investigated the use of Generative AI using ChatGPT to produce Boolean search strings to query PubMed. The goals were to determine if ChatGPT could be used in search string formation and if so, which approach was most effective. Research outputs from published systematic reviews were compared to outputs from AI generated search strings. While moderate overlap in publication retrieval between published and AI generated search strings was noted, the numbers were not sufficient to completely replicate published search strings and little difference was observed between prompted and unprompted GPT in using ChatGPT. © 2024 The Author(s). Plagiarism is one of the actions that have the potential to occur in the academic environment. A real example is the plagiarism of assignments during the lecture process. One of the efforts to prevent plagiarism is to use a system that has been developed in recent years. However, the price of subscribing to the system for a period is quite high. Therefore, we need a plagiarism detection system that everyone can access for free. In developing the system, of course, modeling must be done. Two popular algorithms are often used to detect word similarity: Rabin-Karp and Winnowing. In this study, a performance comparison was made between Rabin-Karp and Winnowing. Comparisons were made using the same dataset of 30 abstraction data from scientific publications. Based on the research, the performance of the Rabin-Karp algorithm and the Winnowing algorithm is almost as good. However, based on the two evaluation parameters used by the Winnowing algorithm, it produces more similarity scores than Rabin-Karp. The same thing also applies to the evaluation of processing time. Winnowing is slightly longer than Rabin-Karp. With the results of this comparison, it can be concluded that if you want a model sensitive to similarity, then Winnowing is recommended. However, if processing time is the target, it is recommended to use Rabin-Karp. In future research, tuning the parameter values of k or n in the Rabin-Karp and Winnowing algorithms is recommended. In addition, it is also recommended to experiment with another distance scoring. © 2022 IEEE.

We revisit the perceptual crossing simulation studies, which are aimed at challenging methodological individualism in the analysis of social cognition by studying multi-agent real-time interactions. To date, all of these simulation studies have reported that it is practically impossible to evolve artificially a robust behavioral strategy without introducing temporal delays into the simulation. Also, all of the studies report on a single strategy: a perpetually crossing agent pair. Here, we systematically report on the evolutionary success of neural circuits on the perceptual crossing task, with and without sensory delay. We also report on two different strategies in the ensemble of successful solutions, only one of which had been discussed in the literature previously. © Artificial Life Conference Proceedings 2022.

This paper explores the key factors influencing online buying session prediction using nomogram analysis with Logistic Regression and Naive Bayes models. We analyzed a dataset containing various attributes of online shoppers. Our results underscore that the Logistic Regression has superior capability for both True and False targets in terms of accuracy (0.883) and AUC (0.897). While Naïve Bayes performs better for the True target with an F1Score of 0.555, Logistic Regression demonstrates superior performance for the False target with an F1 Score of 0.934. Nomogram analysis revealed that for Naive Bayes, page values, exit rates, and bounce rates are the most significant factors, while for Logistic Regression, page values and product-related features (ProductRelated and ProductRelated_Duration) are the most significant. Visualizing these key factors through nomograms helps interpret their relative importance to support the accuracy and interpretability of machine learning predictions.

An interactive routes application simplifies the process for passengers seeking information about routes and bus stop locations. Furthermore, they facilitate passengers to determine the optimal route to a destination, especially when bus changes are required. A significant challenge in developing interactive routes applications for public transportation is the effective storage and management of route data, stops, and the relationships between them, so that they can be retrieved using efficient queries. The objective of this paper is to investigate the use of a graph database in the development of an interactive routes application. By considering the presence of directions, multiple edges, and weights between stops, the route graph is modeled as a weighted directed multigraph. The route graph is implemented as a Labeled Property Graph in Neo4j. A web application is then developed, that retrieves data from the database via a backend API and visualizes the data in an interactive map.

Melanoma is a malignant form of cancer that affects the skin and has a particularly high mortality rate, so it requires early detection to increase the level of safety for users. Diagnosis and detection of skin cancer are usually done through manual screening and visual inspection. This process requires a long time, has high complexity, is subjective, and is prone to errors. CNN is one of the algorithms with advantages in accurate classification. In this research, early detection and classification of melanoma cancer were carried out based on two classes, namely benign and malignant using the Convolutional Neural Network method. Our proposed method yields an accuracy of 81.11% for the validation data. The accuracy results obtained can be improved by using more datasets and increasing the number of layers used. This study uses the CNN method using MobileNet V2 architecture to detect melanoma skin cancer. The class used is benign and malignant. © 2023 IEEE.

Digital health can assist health professionals in monitoring elderly individuals after hospital discharge using technology, techniques, and practices that provide environments conducive to autonomy, comfort, and safety for already vulnerable patients. This article aims to describe the process of modeling and designing an m-Health solution that includes features for monitoring elderly patients post-discharge. The method applied was a case study, analyzing the reality of a hospital institution in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The target audience for this study comprised elderly individuals with preserved cognitive functions and health professionals involved in the hospital discharge process. The modeling of the m-Health solution prototype followed the User-Centered Design method. Data collection instruments included questionnaires, interviews, and observations focusing on the two target groups. As a result, we developed a prototype, characterized by an m-Health solution with relevant functions to facilitate post-hospital discharge management. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Prospective informatics teachers in vocational schools (VS) must master content knowledge, pedagogical skills, and technology integration to achieve learning goals. Therefore, informatics teachers in VS need to innovate to increase students' creativity. However, many prospective informatics teachers experience difficulties in this regard. This research aims to develop and implement the Web-Based Microteaching (WBM) model to improve the teaching skills of prospective informatics teachers at VS. This study uses research and development methods with the ADDIE model approach. The research results show that the WBM model effectively improves prospective informatics teachers' teaching skills, especially in planning lessons and practising basic teaching skills. This innovation is a relevant learning solution in the digital era and positively contributes to the professional development of informatics teachers. The WBM model is an innovation to provide a more intensive and structured practical experience by utilizing web technology as the main media. Through web-based learning, prospective teachers can access material, exercises and feedback independently, which is expected to accelerate pedagogical mastery. © 2025 The Authors

Coral-like structures of the Y_(3-x)Pr_(x)Fe_(5-y)Yb_(y)O_(12),(0.00 ≤ x ≤ 0.04, 0.00 ≤ y ≤ 0.02) compound were synthesized using the sol-gel method. Structural investigation certified the YIG cubic crystal structure formation, without any secondary phase. It is shown that, the relatively large ionic radius of the dopant cations results in an expansion of the lattice parameter, variations in the Iona-O-Iondangle, Iona-O,Iond-O and Ionc-O bond distances and decrease in the average crystallite size. Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) and Raman measurements are essential to testify the single-phase formation of YIG crystal structure and are observed changes in the stretching and vibrational modes, respectively. The morphological study, energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS) spectra and textural properties show corallike structures, peaks associated with Pr^(3+) and Yb^(3+) atoms and the effect of dopants on surface area,diameter, and pore volume, respectively. The optical analysis from diffuse reflectance spectra witnessed an increase in the optical gap band, a decrease in Urbach energy and blue shift in the charge transfer,correlated with the expansion of the unit cell due to the dopant's insertion in the YIG structure. A typical ferrimagnetic behavior is exhibited by the Y_(3-x)Pr_(x)Fe_(5-y)Yb_(y)O_(12)compound. The saturation magnetization(M_(s)), cubic anisotropy constant(K_(1)) and coercive field(H_(c)) increase with the Pr^(3+)cations content, as consequence of their magnetic nature and distribution around of Fe^(3+)ions due to the coexistence with the Yb^(3+). Finally, for the first time, antibacterial tests by mean of the direct contact method were performed for YIG co-doped with Pr^(3+)and Yb^(3+)and it is shown that, relatively high dosages of Pr^(3+) cations favored the activity against S. aureus, therefore, a new biological property for YIG doped with rare earths is presented.

COVID-19 is an acute respiratory disease that has become a pandemic worldwide. Many studies have been conducted to enhance our understanding of COVID-19. However, the abundance of information obtained from these studies has resulted in information overload. In this study, we purposed a simple COVID-19 Knowledge Graph in Bahasa Indonesia as a way to reconstruct knowledge to combat this information overload. We used Bahasa Indonesia in our study to explore its potential for constructing a Knowledge Graph (KG). The construction of our KG involved manual curation of medical literatures and annotation of entities and relationships by the domain experts. The KG was implemented using Neo4J version 5. We successfully demonstrated our COVID-19 KG, which consists of 240 nodes and 276 relationships with 15 and 14 node and relationship labels respectively. Accessing the information within the KG is made effortless through the use of Cypher queries in Neo4J. Further research is still needed to develop the KG into a larger and better one. However, our COVID-19 KG can serve as a basis for further development. © 2024, CC BY.
