An interactive routes application simplifies the process for passengers seeking information about routes and bus stop locations. Furthermore, they facilitate passengers to determine the optimal route to a destination, especially when bus changes are required. A significant challenge in developing interactive routes applications for public transportation is the effective storage and management of route data, stops, and the relationships between them, so that they can be retrieved using efficient queries. The objective of this paper is to investigate the use of a graph database in the development of an interactive routes application. By considering the presence of directions, multiple edges, and weights between stops, the route graph is modeled as a weighted directed multigraph. The route graph is implemented as a Labeled Property Graph in Neo4j. A web application is then developed, that retrieves data from the database via a backend API and visualizes the data in an interactive map. © 2023 IEEE.

Symmetric algorithms offer speed but have weaknesses in key distribution, while asymmetric algorithms are secure but less efficient for encrypting and decrypting large text messages. This research aims to secure data and digital documents through the implementation of a hybrid cryptosystem that combines the Cramer-Shoup algorithm and Spritz. This research also analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness and speed of encryption and decryption, as well as the efficiency of the system in protecting various types of data, including docx and pdf document files. The methodology of this research includes a literature review, analysis of the encryption-decryption process, and performance testing of the system using the Python programming language. The speed test results show that this hybrid cryptosystem provides fast encryption-decryption times, with an encryption time of 0.002607 milliseconds for 400 characters and a decryption time of 0.001537 milliseconds, while for digital documents of the pdf file type, the encryption time is 0.424478 milliseconds and the decryption time is 0.404343 milliseconds. In addition, the use of the SHA-3 hash function has proven effective in maintaining data integrity. In conclusion, this hybrid cryptosystem offers an efficient and secure solution for protecting various types of digital data, including text and documents. © 2024 IEEE.

This study evaluates an agent-based reinforcement learning framework for model-based testing (MBT). The framework's performance was assessed on three key metrics: effectiveness and efficiency in achieving model coverage objectives, the quantity and uniqueness of generated test cases, and code coverage. The results show improved metrics for the framework compared to traditional testers in model coverage evaluation and test case metrics. Specifically, the framework achieved higher effectiveness and efficiency, generating a higher average number of test cases with a substantial proportion of unique cases, indicating more diverse and thorough testing. Additionally, the framework, along with random and greedy testers, achieved over 70% coverage across branch, method, and line code metrics. The framework showed slightly higher values in method and line coverage compared to other testers. The evaluation highlights the use of agent-based reinforcement learning to support model-based testing in planning test case generation, exploring models using multiple strategies, and learning guided by testing metrics. Future work will focus on further refining the framework learning model, including error coverage evaluation, and testing its applicability across different software systems. © 2024 IEEE.

This study explores the use of the YOLOv5 algorithm to detect loose fruits palm oil in plantations, improve collection efficiency, and reduce reliance on manual labor. Loose fruits have high economic value due to their oil content, but they are often not collected, resulting in financial losses and the growth of weeds around oil palm trees. Conventional manual methods are often ineffective;thus, automatic detection is required. The dataset comprises 525 images of loose fruits, covering complex conditions on plantations, and secondary data from Roboflow, including nontarget objects, such as rocks and dry leaves, to train the model to accurately distinguish loose fruits. During training, several parameters were optimized: batch size, learning rate, optimizer type, weight decay, and momentum, which showed that small batch sizes provided higher mAP50 values, whereas large batches increased mAP50:95, indicating the ability to detect objects at higher levels of complexity. Testing in a scenario with loose fruits clearly visible and partially covered with leaves or grass showed that YOLOv5 could detect loose fruits well despite some constraints in the obstructed environment. The results of this study show that, with appropriate parameter settings, YOLOv5 can be a reliable basis for automated loose fruit collection systems, potentially improving operational efficiency in oil palm plantations and contributing to the development of automation in the agricultural sector. © 2025 IEEE.

The proposed smart system namely VidyaMedic utilizes continuous heart rate monitoring through sensors, with data transmission to the cloud via an IoT platform. Testing was conducted on a 40-year-old male participant who wore the Polar H10 heart rate monitor for 24 days. The heart rate profile captures the circadian rhythm, the natural internal biological clock governing cardiovascular and behavioral processes over a 24-hour cycle, influencing morning, daytime, and nighttime activities. Health conditions can be assessed using an algorithm which calculates the running sum of standard deviation for heart rate data over this period. Initially, standard deviation is computed for each data point, quantifying data dispersion from the mean. Subsequently, the running sum of standard deviation enables the detection of significant changes over time, abrupt fluctuations indicate outliers or extreme values, potentially impacting overall standard deviation and signaling significant data changes. Deviations from the expected or previous standard deviation values, marked by a regression coefficient less than or greater than 1, may suggest cardiac abnormalities or heart rhythm disturbances. © 2023 IEEE.

Purpose: The primary objective of this study is to present, analyze, and quantitatively characterize the electrical signals obtained from neuronal cultures coupled to micro-electrode arrays (MEAs). Special attention is given to the temporal evolution of electrical activity across distinct geometric regions of the MEA devices. Methods: The proposed methodology involves signal acquisition, classical analysis based on spike and burst detection, and, critically, the characterization of the probability density structure of the signals. This is achieved through the quantification of Gaussianity—expressed as the percentage of segments non-Gaussian (PSNG)—and stationarity— expressed as the percentage of segments non-stationary (PSNE). Results: Initial analyses showed that first-order power spectral density quantifiers lacked the statistical robustness required to effectively describe the complex components of MEA signals. In contrast, PSNG and PSNE demonstrated strong potential in capturing the different stages of neuronal culture development. Cluster analysis further supported the discriminative capacity of these quantifiers. Conclusion: The phase corresponding to decreased neuronal activity and onset of cell death—a biologically critical stage—exhibited the strongest correlation among the studied variables. These results suggest a discernible biological organization and highlight the relevance of PSNG and PSNE as promising tools for assessing neuronal culture dynamics. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to The Brazilian Society of Biomedical Engineering 2025.

COVID-19 is an acute respiratory disease that has become a pandemic worldwide. Many studies have been conducted to enhance our understanding of COVID-19. However, the abundance of information obtained from these studies has resulted in information overload. In this study, we purposed a simple COVID-19 Knowledge Graph in Bahasa Indonesia as a way to reconstruct knowledge to combat this information overload. We used Bahasa Indonesia in our study to explore its potential for constructing a Knowledge Graph (KG). The construction of our KG involved manual curation of medical literatures and annotation of entities and relationships by the domain experts. The KG was implemented using Neo4J version 5. We successfully demonstrated our COVID-19 KG, which consists of 240 nodes and 276 relationships with 15 and 14 node and relationship labels, respectively. Accessing the information within the KG is made effortless through the use of Cypher queries in Neo4J. Further research is still needed to develop the KG into a larger and better one. However, our COVID-19 KG can serve as a basis for further development. © 2023 IEEE.

Access to healthcare is a fundamental pillar of human well-being, yet cardiovascular diseases (CVD) persist as leading contributors to global mortality. This study explores the transformative potential of Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) algorithms in predicting a spectrum of CVDs, encompassing Heart Failure (HF), Arrhythmia, and coronary artery disease (CAD). With a focus on HF identification and associated risk factors, our primary aim is to rigorously evaluate the efficacy of diverse ML and DL models for CVD diagnosis. Through meticulous analysis of varied datasets, we examine different ML and DL methodologies to determine their predictive capabilities in the realm of CVD. Our findings illuminate promising advancements in CVD prediction accuracy, particularly in heart failure identification. Moreover, we elucidated the intricate interplay between cardiac and pulmonary functions in the context of heart disease, shedding light on disease mechanisms and novel diagnostic avenues. The novelty of our research lies in its comprehensive evaluation of ML and DL algorithms across heterogeneous datasets, fostering the refinement of CVD prediction strategies. By elucidating the effectiveness of various approaches, our study offers invaluable insights for healthcare practitioners and researchers striving to optimize CVD diagnosis and management. Ultimately, the integration of advanced computational techniques holds immense promise for bolstering cardiovascular healthcare outcomes and mitigating the global burden of CVD. © 2024 by the authors.

Design teaching which is part of the system development life cycle, both information systems and application systems is very important to be taught, learned and understood in the informatics engineering study program. System design teaching in private universities in Indonesia whose students are very diverse in terms of abilities and skills require teaching materials, lecture strategies, quality of lecturers and facilities that must also be able to adapt to the challenges and complexity in teaching. The study of system design teaching uses Hevner's information systems research framework which includes the steps of constructing artifacts in the form of constructs, models, methods, instances and evaluation of artifacts using case study in informatics engineering lecture. The use of the framework is intended to support business strategies and processes in study programs and to ensure the relevance of research. The result of research is a model and evaluation of the model. First, this research will produce a system design teaching model that can be used as a reference in the informatics engineering study program to produce graduates with good literacy, skills using the stages of system design, understanding user needs and system design capabilities. After learning the basic features of a programming language, such as expressions and control statements, novice programmers need to combine these features to solve programming questions. Some of these combined code snippets are reusable constructs useful to solve future questions. They are referred to as plans, schemas, or patterns in the literature. An example of such a pattern is determining the equality of three values using the ‘equal and logical and operators. Previous research has investigated the acquisition of these patterns by observing and interviewing novice programmers as they solve programming problems. In this paper, we test the hypothesis that students tend to reuse acquired patterns to solve subsequent problems by analyzing a computer science education dataset called CodeWorkout, which contains students’ code submissions for introductory-level programming questions. We employed directed labeled tree to represent the Abstract Syntax Tree (AST) of the submitted code and the patterns. To search for a pattern, we first applied the subgraph isomorphism algorithm VF2 with wildcard node labels to identify candidate matches, followed by enforcing the proper ordering of descendant nodes between the pattern and the candidate matches. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach effectively identifies common usage of patterns. Moreover, the findings indicate that if a student employs a pattern in one question, they are likely to reuse the same pattern in a subsequent question. This paper also reveals that when multiple alternative patterns exist for the same function, students tend to maintain their preference for a particular alternative while solving different questions.
