Effect of transcranial direct current stimulation combined with pelvic muscle training in women: Randomized, controlled, double-blind, and clinical trial

BackgroundPelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) is widely used for pelvic floor muscle (PFM) weakness in women;however, it has no prolonged *** evaluate the effect of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) associated with PFMT on PFM contraction, sexual function and quality of life (QoL) in healthy *** Design32 nulliparous women, aged 22.7 +/- 0.42 years, were randomized into two groups: G1 (active tDCS combined with PFMT) and G2 (sham tDCS combined with PFMT). The treatment was performed three times a week for 4 weeks, totaling 12 sessions. PFM function was assessed using the PERFECT scheme (P = power, E = endurance, R = repetitions, F = rapid contractions, ECT = each timed contraction) and the perineometer (cmH2O). Sexual function was assessed by The Female Sexual Function Index, and QoL by the SF-36 questionnaire. These assessments were performed before and after the 12nd treatment session and after 30-day *** was a significant increase (p = 0.037) in the power of G2 compared to G1;repetitions and fast contraction increased in the G1 group, and the resistance increased in both groups, however, without statistical difference between the groups. ECT increased in the G1 group (p = 0.0).ConclusionActive tDCS combined with PFMT did not potentiate the effect of the PFMT to increase the PFM function, QoL, and sexual function in healthy women. However, adjunctive tDCS to PFMT improved the time of contractions, maintaining it during follow-up.

Under the increasingly complex and interconnected world we live in, data has become extremely valuable. Nevertheless, exploring even a simple database is not a trivial task, as it requires technical knowledge which many new and non-technical data users do not have. This task includes writing database queries to retrieve data, uncover insights, and exploit patterns. Furthermore, in large volumes of data, finding valuable data that matches a certain user’s purpose requirement is challenging, especially under restrictive time constraints. Typically, this task is manual, ad-hoc, and time-consuming. To address these challenges, researches have proposed tools to support data exploration tasks, especially by means of View Recommendation. However, current recommendation approaches require enumerating all candidate views that can be defined over an input database. In this work, we introduce a novel view recommendation method that leverages a human-in-the-loop approach to create, evaluate, and tailor views to match user intent. Our experimental evaluation on real-world data demonstrates that our approach suitably recommends views that capture multiple perspectives on the data at hand. © 2023 IEEE.

Systematic Review of Studies Investigating Hospital Readmissions in Pediatric Oncology

PurposeThis systematic review aimed to identify and synthesize evidence on hospital readmissions among pediatric oncology patients, focusing on the indications, risk factors, and proposed strategies to prevent *** review followed PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Databases including Embase, Medline, Scopus, Mendeley, and Google Scholar were searched. Studies examining hospital readmission as a main outcome in pediatric cancer patients, including those undergoing surgical oncology procedures or receiving hematopoietic cell transplantation, were included. Quality assessment was undertaken using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale and PROBAST *** total of 18 studies met the inclusion criteria. The studies spanned from 2008 to 2023, with an increase in publications from 2020 onward (61%). Fever and infection were the most common readmission indications. Statistically significant risk factors reported included younger age, specific cancer types (e.g., acute lymphoblastic leukemia), and socioeconomic factors. Prevention strategies proposed included early follow-up, tailored anticipatory guidance, discharge education, and specialized care at pediatric oncology *** systematic review highlights the multifaceted nature of hospital readmissions in pediatric oncology patients and the need for standardized definitions, additional studies, and comprehensive interventions. Future research should focus on high-quality prospective studies, integration of predictive analytics, and addressing socioeconomic disparities to improve patient outcomes.

Badminton is a very popular subject in Physical Education (PE). Many students enroll badminton courses in every semester which pose a tremendous teaching load to the instructors. The one-on-one guiding/feedback time provided by the instructor to each student is also greatly reduced. To overcome this challenge, some studies have tried to adopt pose recognition technique in teaching badminton. However, the lack of mobility and recognition accuracy problems hinder its applicability. To address this issue, a new pose recognition technique, OpenPose, was employed to develop a real-time pose recognition badminton teaching APP in this study. The APP was then installed on a mobile device to enhance badminton smash skill learning performance. The scores distribution of the experimental group shows majority of students achieved satisfactory performance, this implies the badminton teaching APP is helpful to all students no matter what their initial skill levels are. © 2021 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

The patient's infusion fluid will only be changed if the nurse changes it or based on information from the patient's family. The research method used in terms of fluid volume utilizes the function of the Arduino microcontroller as the brain, the load cell sensor as an infusion fluid weight detector connected to the IoT, fuzzy logic calculations on the infusion volume weight measuring device in line with real-time decision-making when reading gram weight changes with sensors, and the system development method using a prototype model. The test results of three infusion bottles containing mineral water with a liquid volume of 500 ml and a load cell sensor as an infusion weight detector can be accepted by the Arduino Wemos D1 as a load cell sensor processing component. The infusion liquid weight data is uploaded to the MySQL database, and a notification is sent and displayed on the smartphone when the infusion volume reaches 12% of its weight. The results of this study indicate that the design of tools connected to applications on smartphones can work well and facilitate the process of monitoring infusions for patients in real-time © 2024 IEEE.

The Myth of Social Mobility: Subjective Social Mobility and Mental Health

A common assumption is that upward mobility produces positive psychological outcomes. However, status-based identity framework and social class worldview model propose that perceived social mobility in either direction will lead to increased distress. Based on this claim, we examined relations among subjective social mobility, life satisfaction, and mental health using polynomial regression with response surface mapping. In Study 1, groups that experienced both subjective downward and upward mobility reported more depressive symptomatology than groups that remained in middle or upper social statuses in a sample of 567 adults. We did not find significant relations between subjective social mobility and life satisfaction. In Study 2, both groups that experienced subjective downward and upward mobility reported more depressive and academic distress symptomatology than groups that remained in middle or upper social social statuses in a sample of 7,598 clients from college counseling center data. The results provide insights relevant to multicultural counseling and training.

Use of virtual reality in preoperative education of cardiac surgery patients - A feasibility study

Objective: A Virtual Patient Tour (VPT) was developed to inform cardiac surgery patients about their hospitalization from the admission to their postoperative stay on the ward. The objective of our study was to assess the feasibility and acceptability of this VPT following the framework of the Virtual Reality Clinical Outcomes Research Experts Committee. Methods: In this single-centre cross-sectional study, adult patients admitted to the hospital for elective cardiac surgery were included. Acceptability, usability, and tolerability were measured by the validated questionnaires Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (acceptability), System Usability Scale (usability), and Virtual Reality Sickness Questionnaire (tolerability). Descriptive statistics were used for the analysis. Results: Twenty-eight participants used the VPT. Results showed high acceptability (mean 16.7 +/- 1.5), acceptable usability (mean 86.7 +/- 9.3), and high tolerability (sickness score, median 7.1 % [0-17.1 %]). Conclusion: The use of the VPT is a feasible and promising technique. The next step is to optimize the content and technique of the VPT based on the suggestions of the participants. Practice implications: We recommend incorporating the VPT into preoperative patient education in addition to the routine information in cardiac surgery patients.

The continued growth of data from biological screening and medicinal chemistry provides opportunities for datadriven experimental design and decision making in early-phase drug discovery. Approaches adopted from data science help to integrate internal and public domain data and extract knowledge from historical in-house data. Protein kinase (PK) drug discovery is an exemplary area where large amounts of data are accumulating, providing a valuable knowledge base for discovery projects. Herein, the evolution of PK drug discovery and development of small molecular PK inhibitors (PKIs) is reviewed, highlighting milestone developments in the field and discussing exemplary studies providing a basis for increasing data orientation of PK discovery efforts.

Banking service transformation from traditional services to bank digitalization has several advantages for both banks and customers. This study aims to examine several theories, including UTAUT, Meta UTAUT and TAM plus the development of variables from security and marketing theory in testing the behavior of digital bank customers in chronological perception by considering 19 hypotheses. The quantitative survey research was carried out by involving 206 respondents using the SEM PLS analysis technique. The results of hypothesis testing summarize the meaning of trust pre-use and post-satisfaction achieved by customers can encourage customer loyalty and intention to recommend digital banks to the public. The negative issue of a technology is a poison that can damage the sustainability of digital banks. So it is necessary to evaluate the improvement and development of digital banks both in terms of systems and services in order to continue to exist in the community. © 2022 IEEE.

In-service teachers’ professional development regarding technology adoption in education is often focused on only one specific technology. To maximize the utilization of technologies, teachers need to be able to leverage different technologies seamlessly. Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) is one of the most important frameworks depicting teachers’ competences for effectively teaching with technology. The TPACK Support-Stimulate-Seek model (3S-TPACK) was used to design training programs with learning activities using robots, IoT-based sensors, actuators, tablets, and computer programming tools. The results show that the training programs designed by adapting the 3S-TPACK model not only can improve the teachers’ learning outcomes but also can support positive attitudes toward adopting robots and IoT technologies in the teaching and learning process. © 2022 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
