Nowadays, steel embryos are necessary materials for human, and steel embryos can be used in shipbuilding, bridges, pressure vessels, and mechanical parts. The steel embryos are formed by a series of physical and chemical reactions of iron ore, limestone and coking coal through a shaft furnace. After roller compaction, the steel embryos are gradually formed, then a set of serial numbers will be given by the thermal printing machine. These numbers will determine which the processing plant will be sent. In order to speed up the classification of steel embryos and reduce human resources, we use YOLOv4-tiny (You Only Look One version4-tiny) for serial number detection. © 2022 IEEE.

Recently, the number of people diagnosed with lung cancer in Taiwan has gradually increased. In particular, the proportion of lung adenocarcinoma is the highest among lung cancers. Although there are many ways to find the location of the tumor, the only way to determine whether the tumor is benign or malignant can only be determined by pathological examination. Only then can we know that to avoid insufficient medical energy, this study uses image segmentation to help medical laboratory technicians quickly determine the location of tumors, which can not only stabilize medical energy, but also use artificial intelligence to assist medical laboratory students to use computers to study. © 2022 IEEE.

In view of the current world market demand, 'Face ID Recognition System' has developed to the highest level. In 'Facial Recognition' field, the applications used are generally similar. Now the only thing we can change is how to adjust image resolution and how to speed up image processing. This paper adopts the existing rapid identification system architecture of 'Paddle Paddle'. It is an open source deep learning framework platform developed by Baidu. It contains a lot about lightweight architecture and lightweight networking. The 'PP-Sin Tu' architecture is one of the lightweight identifications in 'Paddle Paddle'. It can use a few data to achieve the identification effect. The fast identification system and the accuracy of the identification effect, both performances are excellent, It's just that this architecture is not used for face recognition. Therefore, this paper wants to create a system that can quickly identify and achieved real-time identity by using a few identity data. © 2022 IEEE.

Plasticrusts manifest as a coating on intertidal rocks due to environmental exposure. They refer to crushed plastic debris that blankets rocks found along intertidal shorelines. This study significantly contributes to a better understanding of the occurrence of these novel plastic formations, shedding light on their potential pathways of formation during the Anthropocene era. The research provides comprehensive insights into the composition, origins, challenges, and effective management strategies for removing coastal plastic litter. The findings of this investigation offer valuable evidence regarding the formation and impact of these recently discovered plastic items in coastal regions, prompting discussions about their formation processes and their effects on the marine ecosystem. Recognizing that these newly emerged plastic litter pose a considerable threat to the marine environment is crucial. With their emergence, we face an environmental challenge, especially concerning the health of coastal ecosystems. Plasticrusts, when degraded, can release microplastics (MPs) and nanoparticles (NPs) into the surrounding environment. These micro- and nano-sized plastic particles pose significant ecological risks as they persist in ecosystems, potentially harming wildlife and entering the food chain, causing widespread environmental contamination. Significantly, it outlines strategies to minimize the impact of this emerging plastic debris and its source. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In this study, an integrated model is developed for studying the Sanchi oil spill event, which occurred in the East China Sea in January 2018. The results of the Advanced Research Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF-ARW) as well as the Princeton Ocean Model (POM) are used for meteorological forecasting and the hydrodynamic simulations, respectively. These data are adopted as inputs for the OpenOil, a sub-module of OpenDrift, for the oil spill model. Some reference experiments are examined for short-term hindcast. The satellite image is used to validate the numerical result. The oil slicks of the satellite image and the numerical result are of similar shapes. Quantitatively, the simulated oil slick and that from the satellite image are located closely and have similar dimensions of 56 km by 34 km and 54 km by 29 km, respectively. It is found that the accurate results can be obtained by the proposed integrated model with the high-frequency (hourly) and high-spatial-resolution data as inputs, and the wind drift factor has to be added. The long-term 1-month simulation showed that most of the oil particles would move to the northeast of the sinking location and be trapped by the Kuroshio current. © IMechE 2023.

As far as modern technology is concerned, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology is becoming more and more stable. Electronic files are easier to store than paper files, do not take up too much space, and are less likely to suffer from data loss. However, the Document's Table of Contents (TOC) provides the overall structure of the document, such as chapters and appendices. Therefore, TOC recognition can analyze OCR documents more efficiently. In this study, we developed a novel deep learning method based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), and Connectionist Temporal Classification (CTC) to identify TOCs. Finally, the experimental results show that our proposed method outperforms other methods. © 2022 IEEE.

In this paper, we combine image processing and deep learning to achieve crop classification recognition. Crop detection is based on deep learning of convolutional neural networks to capture image features and determine various types of crops. Through the steps of image pre-processing, feature extraction, data augmentation, identification and classification, the crop images are identified and classified. The proposed crop species recognition system is divided into three major parts. We use image pre-processing then cut down the crop feature images, and use Efficientnet-B0 as the backbone for crop classification in this paper. The accuracy of 99.3% is obtained in crop classification recognition. © 2022 IEEE.

Signboards, street signs, billboards, slogans and advertisements which can be seen everywhere in the urban area contain a lot of text and convey many information. If these street texts, which provide text information about the location, can be automatically located and identified in the image, it will be useful for application including scene understanding, smart cities, construction of smart transportation, robotics, automatic steering, assisting visual impairments or travelers. Therefore, this paper uses artificial intelligence technology to recognize the text in the scene. The recognition results can be used in various places to make daily life more convenient and technological. © 2022 IEEE.

Human health/socioeconomic development is closely correlated to environmental pollution, highlighting the need to monitor contaminants in the real environment with reliable devices such as biosensors. Recently, variety of biosensors gained high attention and employed as application, in real-time, and cost-effective analytical tools for healthy environment. For continuous environmental monitoring, it is necessary for portable, cost-effective, quick, and flexible biosensing devices. These benefits of the biosensor strategy are related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations (UN), especially with reference to clean water and sources of energy. However, the relationship between SDGs and biosensor application for environmental monitoring is not well understood. In addition, some limitations and challenges might hinder the biosensor application on environmental monitoring. Herein, we reviewed the different types of biosensors, principle and applications, and their correlation with SDG 6, 12, 13, 14, and 15 as a reference for related authorities and administrators to consider. In this review, biosensors for different pollutants such as heavy metals and organics were documented. The present study highlights the application of biosensor for achieving SDGs. Current advantages and future research aspects are summarized in this paper. Despite various attempts throughout past decades to deal with concurrent delays in construction project schedules, they continue to be a vexing issue that has eluded an unambiguous solution. Prior studies have resorted to the prime contract, which only binds general contractor and owner, cannot be proven to be fair, and may even be biased. Therefore, this paper adopts a concept from cooperative game theory, the Shapley value, which apportions profits (which project participants seek to maximize). Creatively applying it to liquidated damages (which they seek to minimize), the model uses all participants' actual finish dates as input to gain percentage shares of liquidated damages as output. Analyzing all possible coalitions among participants and assigning weights comprehensively assesses their marginal contributions to the project finish date. This generalized view of participants explicitly includes subcontractors, whom prior approaches typically ignored. An example demonstrates how the model also implies an early completion bonus. This yields compelling implications for real-world incentives that can be cast into future contract clauses. © ASCE.
