This study designed and examined counter-current water flow with manual and automatic control in a swimming pool, which improves the learning effectiveness for people with physical and mental disorders. 29 elementary school students with autism and three students with Down syndrome participated in the experiment. Their functional fitness, self-care ability, and motor skills were improved after swimming. The device of counter and upward current provided a safer, more interesting, and effective learning environment than a traditional pool.

The three elements essential for life are sunshine, air, and water. This is an undeniable fact, but with advancements in technology, amenities such as electricity, smart phones, and the internet have become the urban versions of these essential elements for life. Most people living in cities desire constant connectivity. This connectivity requires significant electricity and access to a high-speed internet connection. The purpose of this research is to design a wind turbine system modelled after the shape of a tree with the blades built inside the tree. The power generated by the tree will be stored in a power bank located inside a station adjacent to the tree and will be available to the public. Additionally, there will be WLAN antennas built inside the tree branches to provide wireless internet signals. Finally, the electricity produced will be green energy, which will help us achieve the goal of eco-friendly but intelligent life. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. All rights reserved.

This study examines lignocellulosic by-products from agriculture and food industry for methane production. Banana peels, cacao bean shells, rice straw, tomato plant residues, and wheat straw underwent steam explosion treatment (SE) at 160 °C and 10 min followed by solid-liquid separation. Specific methane yield increased between 8.6 % to 19.6 % for rice and wheat straw and cacao bean shells after SE treatment, while decreasing for banana peels (14.1 %). The liquid phase demonstrated high specific methane yield potential, with SMY between 227 and 336 L kg. Meanwhile, the fiber-rich solid phase offers potential for both energy applications and material utilization. The process supports both bioeconomic strategies and greenhouse gas reduction efforts through sustainable valorization of agricultural waste streams in circular economy models. However, further research is needed to optimize SE conditions and investigate other applications for the solid such as peat substitution.

Missile performance of alternative configurations can be evaluated using a variety of methods. These include analytical estimates, computer simulations, laboratory tests, and flight tests. Analytical techniques are the simplest and less costly, it provides estimations of missile performance characteristics, such as maximum speed, operational range and time of flight, but the detailed interactions of subsystems are difficult or impossible to predict accurately. Laboratory testing provides credible information, but more costly, and restricted mainly to subsystem evaluation. The most credible means is flight testing, but it is also the costliest and time consumed. So, there is a gap, between the extremes of low-cost, low-credibility analytical methods and high-cost, high-credibility flight testing methods. The gap is filled by computer simulation. This paper describes a brief and comprehensive methods of six-degree-of-freedom computer simulation of tactical missile that can be implemented by using modern programming languages, such as C#, C/C++, or others.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are widely applied in various industries and fields. Because they use a variety of rotor types, from single rotors to multi-rotors, UAVs offer a wide array of functions. However, continuously rotating rotors can be dangerous if they accidentally encounter foreign objects or bare hands. Therefore, non-rotor UAVs are the focus of discussion and modification in the present study. Non-rotor UAVs do not contain visible rotor mechanical components. Compared with the development of popularized multirotor UAVs, that of non-rotor UAVs is challenging in terms of structure and flight control. To address this challenge, wind tunnel structure models were developed in this study for different levels of aerodynamic force, and computer-aided engineering was used to conduct structural and flow field analyses to determine the key elements that reinforce non-rotor UAV structures. The research results revealed that the thickness and fillet design at the joint of the non-rotor UAV aerodynamic wind tunnel system were crucial factors influencing the system's performance. Motor rotors can be embedded inside support structures to reduce airflow turbulence in the wind tunnel.

This study used the cavity-surface infrared rapid-heating method and tensile specimens (ASTM-D638) to test the fiber compatibility and tensile characteristics of long glass fiber reinforced PA66 (LGF-PA66) composites. The weldline molding experiment on the injected specimen was conducted using a double-gate. In addition, the integration of infrared heating and cavity pressure measurement were developed to achieve cavity-surface heating and observe the effect of with/without cavity-surf ace heating on weldline tensile strength variation and correlated pressure distribution near the weldline region. On the other hand, a vent -well was designed in the center position of the specimen (vent-well depths are 0.9 mm, 1.8 mm, and 3.6 mm), in order to discuss the effect of the two-melts on fiber and melt compatibility in the compatible process. The experimental results show that vent-well provides better weldline tensile strength; moreover, infrared heating cavity -surface also provides the better weldline tensile strength of LGF-PA66 composites molded parts. In addition, from SEM images and cavity pressure distributions, considering in presence or absence of vent-well design and cavity-surface heating, it provides better weldline tensile strength and interfaces compatibility between fiber and resin at weldline region during molding stage.

In this paper, we expand the energy equation of unsteady Euler equations as the form of mixture gas and carry out the numerical resolution through the FVM to discuss the nonphysical oscillations near the contact discontinuity interface and shock wave. We resolve the equations by using the AUSMDV Riemann solver with different flux limiters, the FVM and the second-order with two-step discrete-time stepping method. For the source term in the investigated Euler equations with multi-species, we discuss the facing problem of for the numerical treatment of gradient in different type and test the non-physical oscillation problem by establishing a new applied method of gradient control. © 2018, Chinese mechanical engineering Society. The discussion on the heat transfer analysis of rectangular nonlinear fins with thermal conductivity varying with temperature proved that the hybrid spline difference method proposed in this paper is a simple and high accuracy numerical method in the case of pure convection heat transfer, pure radiation heat transfer or mixed convection and radiation heat transfer. It was found that the computational process of the hybrid spline difference method is as simple as that of finite difference method, reducing the complex calculation of traditional spline method, but the numerical accuracy can be increased to fourth order. This method is expected to replace traditional finite difference method and spline method in the analysis of heat transfer as a high accuracy numerical method. © 2017, Chinese mechanical engineering Society. Acquiring the dynamic model of a helicopter is one of the most important requirement before the design of an autonomous model-based flight control. The objective of the study is to identify the pitch, roll, heave, and yaw dynamic models of the used virtual helicopter, Raptor, in X-Plane flight simulator. A software-in-the-loop (SIL) was then developed by using all estimated models. In this study, the subspace method and prediction error method (PEM) were investigated to identify the dynamic models. The model predictive control (MPC) was adopted to perform the autonomous control in SIL. The results demonstrated that the proposed approach is viable for the autonomous flight control for the small helicopter. © 2017 IEEE.

Preservations and utilization of culture asset is one out of most discussed issues worldwide, whether it is tangible or intangible cultural asset. The emphasis on inherited human-oriented memories, through influential and important of story-telling is vital. If the cultural asset was being redeveloped and managed inappropriately, it will disengage the main concept of preserving cultural asset, affecting local culture and its historical heritage, which may lead to poor maintenance, or in contrast, an excessive commercialization on cultural assets. Kinmen, offshore island of Taiwan, contains the most cultural asset in Taiwan. It has preserved traditional Minnan tribe culture in their lives and buildings. They work hard to protect, repair, and introduce their culture, letting others experience their ancestor’s smart living and feel the dynamic of local people in passing down their cultural heritage. Alongside its rich cultural heritage, Kinmen has turned from being a "sad heritage" (confrontation, war, and tragedy) into an "inspiring heritage" (reconcile, peace and reborn) and serves as a guidance and an inspiration for us in searching the value of peace. Based on Kinmen’s importance on Minnan cultural heritage and the possible impacts of the gambling industry on cultural assets, this research will be using Kinmen as a study subject and organize its cultural assets by utilizing AHP analysis values with discussion of the gambling industry’s impact;then taking further to drive the diversity of impacts by using FDM analysis. © 2018, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
