The history of much of Industrial Engineering has its roots in the Industrial Revolution where technologies helped mechanize what had been manual labor. However a lot has changed in the 100 plus years since the Industrial Revolution started, and Industrial Engineering rightly changed along with it. over time Industrial Engineering has taken different focuses and embodied different instruction by different educational institutions. Is it only just 'gears and wrenches'? Or is there more to it? Are there specific identifiable focuses? If so, how could Industrial and systems Engineering (ISE) articulate those focuses? If a university was to start a brand new Industrial and systems Engineering program, what would it look like and why? These topics will be explored in this article focusing on the rollout of a brand new program in Industrial and systems Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology. © American Society for Engineering Education, 2018.

The forgery of watermark images poses a significant threat to digital works’ visual integrity and authenticity. This research focuses on developing a method for detecting forged watermark images by comparing the performance of two conventional approaches: the Gabor and the Prewitt filters. In addition, a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is employed as a classifier to model complex features that may be challenging to identify using traditional detection methods. The Gabor and Prewitt filters extract texture and edge features from the images. Experiments were conducted on a dataset containing various forged watermark images with different levels of complexity. Performance evaluation results were measured by assessing accuracy during validation and testing, True Positive Rate (TPR), False Negative Rate (FNR), and the ROC–AUC curve. The research findings indicate that the Prewitt filter outperforms the Gabor filter, achieving a testing accuracy of 88.32%, a TPR of 82.94%, an FNR of 17.05%, and an ROC–AUC value of 0.884 for validation accuracy. These results demonstrate the potential of the Prewitt filter and CNN as a practical approach to addressing the challenges of detecting increasingly complex watermark image forgeries. This study contributes to developing watermark image authenticity detection methods by combining conventional approaches with deep learning technology. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program (MBKM) needs to be clearly understood by students to be able to determine the appropriate program activities from what is offered. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of online media in increasing students’ understanding of the MBKM program. The research method used is a descriptive analysis method using quantitative data collection techniques through questionnaires and interviews in discussion group forums to obtain qualitative data. Analysis of the data to determine the information needs of students in understanding the MBKM program. The subjects of this research are students of the Information systems Study program at Pembangunan Jaya University (SIF UPJ Study program) who are active in the Odd Semester of the Academic Year 2021/2022, a total of 221 students. From the results of the questionnaire, it was found that as many as 4% stated that there was a lack of information about the MBKM program so that they did not participate in the MBKM program activities which can cause these students to be less interested in joining the MBKM program. In order to improve understanding of the MBKM program, an online media application design is proposed in this study. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The MH-60R Logistics Management Unit (LMU) within Navy Aviation systems program Office (NASPO) is working with the AIR 9000 Phase 8 Project Office to support the transition to sustainment of 24 Sikorsky - Lockheed Martin built MH-60R Seahawk 'Romeo' helicopters, associated support systems, and weapons acquired under a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) arrangement with the United States Navy (USN). Acquisition of the MH-60R is predicated on the basis of maintaining commonality with the USN support system wherever possible, including engineering and technical support. As a consequence the MH-60R LMU must evolve the current NASPO Engineering Management System (EMS) from the traditional in-house design development and engineering support to a system which acts as an intermediary to USN developed designs and technical advice. These are assessed for incorporation against Australian specific requirements without compromising the existing services carried out by the other platforms supported at NASPO. Large, complex systems development has always been challenging, even when the "only" things a program manager had to worry about were cost, schedule, and performance for their program. The rampant growth in system complexity, greatly expanded use of joint and combined operations, and the emergence of such operational concepts as network-centric operations, has led to the prevalence of interoperable systems of systems as the preferred solution to providing operational capability. As difficult as program management is within a single program, it is significantly more complex in the context of a system of systems. The absence of any clear guidance for identifying and resolving conflicts between a systemcentric and system of systems perspectives is at the heart of several notable systems of systems failures. This paper provides some simple guidance to help program managers: the "laws of programmatics" for systems-of-systems.

This study looks on the factors that influence 452 Indonesian customers' adoption of digital insurance. The study investigates the impact of psychological, social, and technical aspects on adoption intentions using a modified UTAUT2 model. The results highlight the importance of psychological and social factors over technical ones in influencing the adoption of digital insurance. These factors include perceived benefits, perceived risk, price value, social influence, facilitating conditions, trust, behavioral intention, effort expectancy, and performance expectancy. These findings offer the insurance sector invaluable direction for creating digital products that suit consumer preferences and efficient marketing plans. Purposive sampling was used in the data gathering procedure, and Smart PLS 4 was the statistical tool of choice for structural equation modeling, which was used for hypothesis testing. The results indicate that attitude has a major influence on behavioral intention. © 2025 IEEE.

This research investigates sentiment analysis of user reviews for the XYZ e-wallet application on the Google Play Store, which currently holds a low rating of 2.7 out of 5. A preliminary study, including a focus group discussion with key stakeholders, revealed that this rating is primarily due to insufficient consideration of user feedback during the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). This study employs word2vec and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) models to analyze user sentiments, using a dataset comprising reviews collected between July 1, 2023, and June 30, 2024. The developed sentiment analysis model achieved an accuracy of 91.40%. Subsequently, the model was applied to predict sentiments from new review data spanning July 1, 2024, to July 31, 2024. The results were visualized using BERTopic for topic modeling and BART for text summarization. Insights from these visualizations informed recommendations for application improvement, particularly addressing frequent issues with balance top-ups that fail to update, which were incorporated into the product backlog to enhance user satisfaction. This study is limited to a single sentiment analysis model, topic modeling technique, and summarization method. Future research should explore applying the proposed model to other applications and evaluating alternative algorithms for improved performance. © 2025 IEEE.

The systems Architecting and Engineering Graduate program at the University of Southern California began as a graduate educational program primarily focused on aerospace and defense. Founded by Eberhardt Rechtin in 1987, the program today is a science, technology, engineering, and math success story in terms of its growth, teaching approach, and contributions to the engineering workforce in aerospace and defense. systems Architecting and Engineering is a multidisciplinary field that cuts across science, technology, engineering, and math, and draws on concepts from psychology, sociology, biology, and economics. This paper presents the genesis of this program, its teaching philosophy, its evolution in response to the demands of the marketplace, and its vision for the future. © Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

This study related phenomena to the adoption of digital insurance services in Jakarta. Analysis of 403 respondents reveals that several factors have no significant impact on individual behavioral intention to use digital insurance, although facilitating conditions and performance expectations do not have a significant effect on behavioral intention. This research suggests a unique behavior among digital insurance consumers in Jakarta that requires further understanding. Utilizing SmartPLS 4.0 software for Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS) analysis, the study delves beyond the technical aspects of using digital insurance applications. It needs to highlight to consider psychological and social factors such as perceived benefit, perceived risk, and trust when designing the method. This research makes a significant contribution to identifying the factors influencing digital insurance adoption in Jakarta. By using the UTAUT2 model with modification, the study successfully identifies a gap between theoretical expectations and the market in Jakarta. These results open avenues for further research to delve deeper into context-specific factors in different Indonesian big cities. Future study suggests that need for developing more comprehensive models to predict consumer behavior in the context of financial technology adoption. Insurance industry can design more targeted strategies to enhance the penetration of digital insurance service in Indonesia. © 2025 IEEE.

This study aims to investigate the adoption of robo-advisors in the Indonesian insurance sector, focusing on key factors influencing their acceptance, such as trust, anxiety, performance expectancy, preference for human advisors, attitude, and perceived privacy. The research employed a quantitative approach using a structural equation modeling (SEM) technique through Partial Least Squares (PLS). Data were collected via a Google Forms survey distributed to 442 valid respondents using purposive sampling, with the study conducted in Jakarta, Indonesia. The findings revealed that performance expectancy, anxiety, preference for human advisors, and perceived privacy significantly impact the intention to use robo-advisors, whereas trust and attitude showed limited influence. The study concludes that while robo-advisors hold potential in enhancing efficiency and personalization, concerns such as user privacy and the need for human interaction remain critical. Insurance companies should prioritize robust data privacy measures and consider hybrid models combining robo-advisors with human advisors to enhance user trust and satisfaction. Implications for practice include fostering user trust through transparent data handling policies and providing educational resources to mitigate technology-related anxiety. Limitations of this research include its focus on respondents in a single geographic region and its reliance on self-reported data, which may introduce biases. Future research should explore the application of robo-advisors in broader insurance markets and examine their long-term impact on user behavior and financial decision-making. © 2025 IEEE.
