He is also on the steering organizing and program committees of several premier EDA and embedded system design conferences and workshops. Autonomous systems are able to make decisions and potentially take actions without direct human intervention, which requires some knowledge about the system and its environment as well as goal-oriented reasoning. In computer systems, one can derive such behavior from the concept of a rational agent with autonomy (“control over its own actions”), reactivity (“react to events from the environment”), proactivity (“act on its own initiative”), and sociality (“interact with other agents”) as fundamental properties \n[1]\n. Autonomous systems will undoubtedly pervade into our everyday lives, and we will find them in a variety of domains and applications including robotics, transportation, health care, communications, and entertainment to name a few. \nThe articles in this month’s special issue cover concepts and fundamentals, architectures and techniques, and applications and case studies in the exciting area of self-awareness in autonomous systems.

Tapioca starch-hydroxyapatite (HA) composites scaffold was fabricated using solvent casting and particulate leaching. The solvent casting involved the casting of polymer while particulate leaching involved the removal of porogen agent. The percentage of tapioca starch used were 50%, 60%, 70%, 80% and 90%, with the percentages of hydroxyapatite (HA) were set as 50%, 40%, 30%, 20% and 10% respectively. Here, sodium chloride was used as a porogen agent. SEM analysis was conducted to determine the micro structural of the scaffold surface. Based on the results, the pore size of composite scaffold is between ranges of 198 µm to 786 µm. For the dielectric study, the dielectric constants (D') and dielectric loss factor (D') over frequency range from 12.4 GHz to 18.0 GHz were obtained by transmission line method. Based on the result, both dielectric constant (s') and dielectric loss factor (s') was declined with the increment of the frequency.

Background: Improving the accessibility of screening diabetic kidney disease (DKD) and differentiating isolated diabetic nephropathy from non-diabetic kidney disease (NDKD) are two major challenges in the field of diabetes care. We aimed to develop and validate an artificial intelligence (AI) deep learning system to detect DKD and isolated diabetic nephropathy from retinal fundus images. Methods: In this population-based study, we developed a retinal image-based AI-deep learning system, DeepDKD, pretrained using 734 084 retinal fundus images. First, for DKD detection, we used 486 312 retinal images from 121 578 participants in the Shanghai Integrated Diabetes Prevention and Care System for development and internal validation, and ten multi-ethnic datasets from China, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and the UK (65 406 participants) for external validation. Second, to differentiate isolated diabetic nephropathy from NDKD, we used 1068 retinal images from 267 participants for development and internal validation, and three multi-ethnic datasets from China, Malaysia, and the UK (244 participants) for external validation. Finally, we conducted two proof-of-concept studies: a prospective real-world study with 3 months' follow-up to evaluate the effectiveness of DeepDKD in screening DKD;and a longitudinal analysis of the effectiveness of DeepDKD in differentiating isolated diabetic nephropathy from NDKD on renal function changes with 4·6 years' follow-up. Findings: For detecting DKD, DeepDKD achieved an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of 0·842 (95% CI 0·838–0·846) on the internal validation dataset and AUCs of 0·791–0·826 across external validation datasets. For differentiating isolated diabetic nephropathy from NDKD, DeepDKD achieved an AUC of 0·906 (0·825–0·966) on the internal validation dataset and AUCs of 0·733–0·844 across external validation datasets. Recently, unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are widely applied in civilian and commercial areas. In order to rapidly arrange the UAVs in a variable and changeable environment, the technique of maintaining stable and reliable communication link between Ground Control Station (GCS) and UAVs is one of the main issues [1]. However, UAVs deployment can significantly increase the efficiency of missions execution and the flexibility of task allocation. As discussed by different scholars, multi-UAVs have a number of advantages depending on the application areas: disaster areas monitoring, wireless sensor data collection in precision agriculture, and relay-aided of UAVs network topology [2].

Bisindo information system as potential daily sign language learning

Bisindo or Bahasa Isyarat Indonesia is one of sign language methods in Indonesia, besides SIBI or Sistem Isyarat Bahasa Indonesia. Generally, Bisindo is used by deaf people in their daily communication. Deaf people tend to have barriers to communicate with others. Yet, in the educational realm, some of them still have high spirit to continue their education until university. So, they must improve their abilities or competences in communicating with others and try to get information from around the world, for example using sophisticated technology with sign language. Information system of sign language learning is important to help deaf and heard people who want to understand the deaf conversation meaning. Bisindo information system is in website form that is built by PHP, MySQL, and sublime text 3. Based on the black box method, the Bisindo information system can run well. The results of the trial to the user describe that the maximum percentage for each level of testing is above 50% except for testing of conformity with the needs of deaf only at maximum of 42%. The Bisindo information system still has weakness, but it already gives benefits especially for deaf people in Indonesia.

This paper addresses the concept of a bias injection cyber-attack on the load frequency control loop of a single-area power plant. The system evolves in the discrete-time domain and a convex and compact set of polyhedral state constraints represents a valid domain of safe operation under the effect of a stabilizing output-feedback controller. Whenever the safety constraints are violated, an alarm alerts the control center to a security breach. An attacker gains access to frequency sensor measurements and corrupts the data transferred to the automatic generation control unit. The objective of the adversary is to drive the electrical frequency to a safety-critical steady-state value without triggering an alarm. An analysis based on robust invariance concepts assesses the vulnerability of the system on this particular scenario and determines the maximal impact that such an attack can have without activating an alarm. Simulation studies highlight the effect of the cyber-attack on the physical plant. © 2017

This study aims to apply data mining techniques with cluster analysis on stock data registered in LQ45 in Indonesia Stock Exchange. The cluster analysis used in this method is k-means algorithm, the data in this research is taken from Indonesia Stock Exchange. The cluster analysis in this study analyzed the characteristics of data volumes and stock values, while the results in this study were presented in the form of cluster members visually. Therefore, this cluster analysis in this research can be used for quick and efficient identifier for each member of LQ45 index cluster based on share value for each cluster and its volume. The identification results can be used by beginner-level investors that begun to be interested in stock investments to help make informed decisions about stock trading on desired cluster groups. © 2018 IEEE.

Improve of the overall network efficiency between source and destination relay selection and interference free communication is important criteria in WSN. In this paper we are proposing SON based algorithm capable of simultaneous Scheduling and Routing in WSN. The proposes scheme contains the three stages, in first stage the sensor nodes are classified into different clusters and each nodes having different weight based on distance from base station. In second stage the IRSS (Improvised Received Signal Strength) based scheme used select Routing path based on the Node weight, Residual Energy and Probability of Link Loss values of Relay Sensors. On the other side the channel estimation algorithm executed simultaneously with previous two stages. In final we are implementing the Data Logging based Scheduling and Routing scheme (DLSR) for WSN with Energy and Maximized Throughput. We are applying path recovery algorithm in presence of Void path or node failures. The proposed scheme additionally will form the virtual relay path to make communication with nearly zero loss. © 2017 IEEE.

This paper implements an automatic bird data capture system which uploads data captured from social network websites to the server and stores them in the database. When using the Facebook API to capture data of interest, the system needs to filter the captured data to avoid false data storage. This paper takes building an automatic system that includes reinforcing the training database of the bird community as a top priority.
