This paper introduces a new algorithm of polyphasic segmentation. This new algorithm combines the strength of the concept of voltage signal tensor with the benefits offered by the residual segmentation technique in order to generate a unique pattern of segmentation. This segmentation strategy is validated using a set of synthetic signals with voltage variation in the remnant voltage and the start point of the event. The proposed algorithm is tested using a set of real signals captured by a local network operator.

In this paper, a new method for discovering the candidate car license plate locations is presented. First, the image is decomposed using a Haar wavelet to get the HL band with vertical edges. Then, the HL band image is binarized using an Otsu threshold. Next a black top-hat algorithm is applied to reduce the effects of interfering large continuous features other than the license plate. At this time, a moving window based modified variance score calculation is made for areas with white pixels. This work found that the top 3 detected rectangle windows correctly locate the license plate regions with a success rate of about 98.2%. Moreover, the proposed method is robust enough to locate the plates in cases where the rough vehicle position has not been previously discovered and the cars are not centered in the image.

Nowadays, in several areas, efficient fault diagnosis methods for complex machinery and equipments are required. Several fault diagnosis methods based on different theories and approaches have been proposed in the literature. In general, these methods use mathematical/statistical models, accumulated experience, or even process historical data to perform fault diagnosis. Although methods based on models or experience have shown to be effective, they have the disadvantage of requiring previous knowledge of the dynamic system in question. On the contrary, methods based on process historical data do not require a prior knowledge, they are based solely on data obtained directly from the dynamic system. The application of so-called "Evolving Intelligent Systems" to accomplish fault diagnosis from process data have been shown a promising approach. This paper proposes an evolving fuzzy classifier based on a new approach that combines a recursive clustering algorithm and a drift detection method and its application on dynamic systems fault diagnosis. The novel approach provides greater robustness to outliers and noise present in data from process sensors. The classifier is evaluated in fault diagnosis of an interacting tank system and the results are promising.

An Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) scheme is expected as an efficient technique for next generation wireless communications. However, high Peak to Average Power Ration (PAPR) of OFDM system is the main drawback which degrades the transmitter power efficiency causes poor performance of the system. To reduce PAPR of OFDM signal, several works on clipping technique have been proposed. This paper is incorporated the improvement of the PAPR and Bit Error Rate (BER) performance using clipping method. It has been shown from the result that by employing the recursive clipping and filtering, 11.45 dB of PAPR of original OFDM signal is reduced down to 4.77 dB. Hence, BER is also increased significantly. This research is carried out through MATLAB simulation and gradually measured the effect of PAPR on BER under AWGN channel for 16QAM scheme with 256 points OFDM. Moreover, it is studied the effect of OFDM signal while passing through High Power Amplifier (HPA). Finally, the PAPR reduction technique such as recursive clipping and filtering (RCF) is implemented.

This paper deals with a single-input multiple-output mixed-mode second-order filter providing two voltage-mode functions (low-pass and band-pass) and three transconductance-mode functions (low-pass, band-pass and band-reject) based on voltage differencing transconductance amplifier (VDTA). The quality factor and pole frequency can be electronically and orthogonally tuned via the bias current. The proposed circuit uses two VDTAs and two grounded capacitors without any external resistors, which is suitable to further develop into an integrated circuit. Moreover, the circuit possesses high input impedance, providing easy cascading. The PSPICE simulation results are included, verifying the key characteristics of the proposed filter. The given results agree well with the theoretical presumptions.
