Output saturation observed for high power levels of input optical pump is a well-known bottleneck in the operation of terahertz photoconductive devices (PCDs). This saturation is a result of various screening effects that stem from the interactions between electromagnetic fields and semiconductor charge carriers. To simulate these effects, this work uses a time-domain multiphysics approach that solves a coupled system of the Maxwell and the drift-diffusion equations to rigorously take into account the two-way nonlinear coupling between fields and carriers. Furthermore, an optical absorption-based model is used to correctly compute the carrier generation rate. The resulting multiphysics solver is used to simulate realistic PCDs, and excellent agreement is observed between the simulation and experimental results. © 2022 IEEE.

Early detection of heart rate conditions in autistic children is crucial for anticipating tantrum reactions and providing prompt medical intervention. Previous research designed a prototype for acquiring Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals using the AD8232 sensor, but it required a long time to identify heart rate conditions. This study aims to develop the previous prototype using Internet of Things (IoT) implementation to acquire and identify the heart rate conditions of autistic children in real time. The ECG signal data is analyzed using Butterworth Filter and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) integrated into Raspberry Pi and results are transmitted to the Blynk App. Testing over 20 minutes showed that in the first 10 minutes, the system identified a normal heart rate at 105.19 BPM with 67% accuracy, while in the second 10 minutes, the heart rate rose to 117.19 BPM with tantrum symptoms and 75% accuracy. This system helps medical personnel provide immediate intervention during tantrums. © 2024 IEEE.

The idea of the traditional histogram shifting technique is to hide a message within the cover-image pixel distribution. However, the embedding capacity is limited by the peak point occurrences. To solve this problem, many reversible data hiding (RDH) techniques are developed to combine pixel prediction and histogram shifting to increase the embedding payload. In this paper, a RDH scheme based on chessboard prediction and pixel partitioning is proposed for enhancing the hiding payload. Pixel partitioning is used to separate a pixel into two parts: most significant bit and least significant bit. Then, the chessboard predictor is adopted to generate prediction errors and separate the pixels. Thereafter, histogram shifting is applied to embed the secret messages into prediction errors. Due to the high similarity of adjacent pixels in an image, the generated prediction errors are highly close to zero, resulting in a large embedding space. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method has superior performance in embedding capacity with acceptable image visual quality compared to existing schemes since it adopts the adaptive adjustment strategy to achieve this improved balance. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Fine Tuning Attribute Weighted Naïve Bayes (FTAWNB) is a reliable modified Naïve Bayes model. Even though it is able to provide high accuracy on ordinal data, this model is sensitive to outliers. To improve the performance of FTAWNB, this research modified the Partial Instances Reduction (PIR) technique to make the FTAWNB more adaptive to outliers. Nevertheless, in contrast to the original PIR technique, which substitutes missing values for data values deemed outliers, the PIR technique suggested in this study replaces data values deemed outliers using a Naïve Bayes weighting approach. The attribute values from the outlier data are replaced with the highest probability values for the attributes in the actual class. This PIR technique is referred to as modified PIR. The FTAWNB model with modified PIR has been evaluated using the Gaming Disorder dataset. Replacing the four attributes with the least amount of information resulted in accuracy gains of 99.74%, an increase of 1.53% over the FTAWNB model. The experimental result shows that adding the modified PIR technique to the FTAWNB model can handle the outlier in the data, proving it by increasing the performance in terms of accuracy, precision, and recall without pruning the dataset used. © 2025, Ital Publication. A time domain discontinuous Galerkin (DGTD)-based framework is developed to analyze three-dimensional organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs). The proposed framework uses a local DG scheme to discretize the (non-linearly) coupled system of the Poisson equation (in electric potential) and the drift-diffusion (DD) equations (in charge densities) in space. To reduce the computational requirements, a dual-mesh scheme, which uses a dense mesh for the DD equations and a much coarser mesh for the Poisson equation, is used. Furthermore, an implicit-explicit time integration scheme, which allows for a significantly larger time-step size, is utilized to efficiently account for the extremely long response time of OECTs. Numerical results are provided to demonstrate the applicability and accuracy of the proposed solver. © 2022 IEEE.

Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANs) are a viable solution for addressing the requirements of Internet of Things (IoT) applications that can tolerate sporadic updates, possibly only in the uplink (from the field towards the cloud and the user) direction. LoRaWAN is currently the most diffused example of LPWAN, exploiting LoRa radios. LoRa, an enhanced version of chirp spread spectrum modulation, trades off the radio sensitivity for the data rate, permitting extensive area coverage. However, the price is a relatively long frame duration, leading to high collision probability in dense, asynchronous scenarios;fortunately, polarity inversion minimizes collisions between uplink and downlink traffic. Therefore, adaptive strategies (based on some feedback from the backend) have also been suggested to adapt the data rate depending on the environment condition dynamically. This work compares the ADR (Adaptive Data Rate) and the ADP (Adaptive Data Payload) strategies when bidirectional traffic exists, using a purposely designed simulator. Results considering a different number of gateways show that ADP tries to maximize the amount of data effectively received in both direction but suffer from the adoption of longer frame duration, leading to higher collision probability. In contrast, ADR tries to force the adoption of the fastest data rate, limiting the overall amount of transferred data. © 2023 IEEE.

Manufacturing, energy, finance, education, transportation, smart home, and medicine employ IoT technology. IoT solutions can efficiently manage hospital patients and mobile assets to provide high-quality medical services. The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) integrates IoT with medical equipment to increase patient comfort, cost-effective medical solutions, hospital treatment speed, and personalized healthcare. This work uses Constrained Application Protocol to secure remote patient health data (CoAP). Nevertheless, the CoAP DTLS layer lacks key control, session establishment, and multicast message exchange. Hence, IoMT communication requires an efficient protocol for safe CoAP session formation. Consequently, to address key management and multicast security issues in CoAP, we presented an efficient and secure communication method to establish a secure session key between IoMT devices and distant servers utilizing lightweight, energy efficient, and Secure CoAP Elliptic Curve Cryptography (E2SCEC2). E2SCEC2 can use a smaller key size than Rivest-Shamir-Adleman (RSA) due to its tiny key size. To determine if these algorithms are compatible in limited contexts, the paper examines key creation, signature generation, and verification of E2SCEC2 and RSA algorithms, energy consumption, and radio duty cycle. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Many individuals now trade online utilizing trading software in the digital world. Binomo is one of Indonesia's most popular trading platforms. This is because some influencers made several promises to Binomo customers. Since many customers were deceived, this case became quite popular. This study was executed to see how Indonesians felt about the Binomo application after the case went viral. The solution taken was in the form of sentiment analysis because there had been no previous research on sentiment analysis that discussed the Binomo case. The data was scanned using Netlytic tools, a cloud-based text and social network analyzer capable of identifying any talks on social media sites such as Twitter. The sentiment analysis of Binomo trading tweets by using the Multi-Perspective Question Answering lexicon utilized the KNIME tool. But unfortunately, the accuracy of sentiment analysis results is low. Furthermore, the Support Vector Machine technique is also being conducted. The Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency method is applied to perform feature extraction whilst the chi-square approach is utilized to identify features that are thought to be useful for inclusion in the classification process and to exclude features that are irrelevant to the target class. The obtained accuracy is 86%. The study proposes that words from the algorithm's outputs can be utilized to improve the quality of sentiment analysis using the lexicon. As an outcome of the algorithm, positive and negative terms are added to the lexicon, increasing the accuracy of sentiment analysis using the new vocabulary from 58.984% to 71.146%. © 2023 IEEE.

This research delves into enhancing local area power stability by integrating battery energy storage systems (BESS) with photovoltaic (PV) systems to address and accelerate the damping of post-fault oscillations following short-circuit disturbances within power grids incorporating variable renewable energy sources. Focused on implementing a power oscillation damping (POD) mechanism within PV plants, this study aims to mitigate post-fault oscillations effectively within a specified timeframe. The proposed POD within the PV plant is strategically designed to augment the grid's resilience by supplying additional active and reactive power in response to system demands post-disturbance. The integration of a 25 MW BESS has demonstrated a significant enhancement in the system's recovery speed, reducing oscillation duration from 60 seconds to 45 seconds. Moreover, a configuration with double PV systems and a 50 MW BESS further reduced the oscillation duration to 42 seconds. Utilizing PSCAD software, this study presents an innovative approach to visualize the system's behavior post-short-circuit disturbances, confirming the efficacy of BESS integration in improving system stability and reliability. These results pave the way for further exploration of optimal BESS sizing and placement strategies to maximize grid resilience. © 2024 IEEE.

This study examines the decline in the usage of the Javanese language, which has experienced a decrease in the number of speakers from approximately 82 million in 2007 to 68.2 million in 2015. The convergence of the Javanese script and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology is proposed as a solution, allowing for the preservation and accessibility of the Javanese script in the digital age. The integration of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) in Javanese script classification achieved a high accuracy rate of 92.95% in identifying positive and negative cases. The dataset used for training consisted of 8440 sample images, which were divided into 20 subfolders for training and testing. The results presented in Table IV demonstrate the successful implementation of the classification model, achieving a 98.87% sensitivity, 100% precision, and 98.88% specificity. This research contributes to the preservation and understanding of the culturally significant Javanese script while addressing the decline in its usage. © 2023 IEEE.
