Internet of Things (IoT) industrial applications have increased in internet-connected devices. As a result, accessibility, scalability, connectivity, and adaptability have become major challenges. It is possible to create connections between loT devices over the wireless medium, but efficiently utilizing scarce spectrum is the biggest concern. The paper proposes a novel method for selecting sensing nodes with the goal of reducing energy usage and increasing sensing efficiency. In order to ensure that node trust values conform to each other without any ambiguity, cryptography encrypts all information that relates to a node in a central node (CN). Nodes participating in CSS are selected based on their performance. Based on a comparison of various algorithms using varying numbers of nodes, the proposed algorithm achieves a 10% sensing efficiency. © 2024 IEEE.

Graph-based data present unique challenges and opportunities for machine learning. Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), and especially those algorithms that capture graph topology through message passing for neighborhood aggregation, have been a leading solution. However, these networks often require substantial computational resources and may not optimally leverage the information contained in the graph's topology, particularly for large-scale or complex *** propose Topology Coordinate Neural Network (TCNN) and Directional Virtual Coordinate Neural Network (DVCNN) as novel and efficient alternatives to message passing GNNs, that directly leverage the graph's topology, sidestepping the computational challenges presented by competing algorithms. Our proposed methods can be viewed as a reprise of classic techniques for graph embedding for neural network feature engineering, but they are novel in that our embedding techniques leverage ideas in Graph Coordinates (GC) that are lacking in current *** results, benchmarked against the Open Graph Benchmark Leaderboard, demonstrate that TCNN and DVCNN achieve competitive or superior performance to message passing GNNs. For similar levels of accuracy and ROC-AUC, TCNN and DVCNN need far fewer trainable parameters than contenders of the OGBN Leaderboard. The proposed TCNN architecture requires fewer parameters than any neural network method currently listed in the OGBN Leaderboard for both OGBN-Proteins and OGBN-Products datasets. Conversely, our methods achieve higher performance for a similar number of trainable parameters. These results hold across diverse datasets and edge features, underscoring the robustness and generalizability of our methods. By providing an efficient and effective alternative to message passing GNNs, our work expands the toolbox of techniques for graph-based machine learning. VANET (Vehicular Ad Hoc Network) was developed to address the unique challenges of communication in a mobile vehicular environment. This technology can enhance driving safety and traffic control. Moreover, similar principles can be applied to unmanned aerial vehicles and robotics. When transmitting data in moving vehicles, it is challenging as access points and base stations keep changing, requiring handovers between different access points and base stations. Clustering is a popular approach used to address this challenge. Common clustering strategies are based on the proximity, communication range, the density, the application requirements of the moving vehicles, or hybrid of them. In this paper, we propose a clustering strategy based on the application sublayer in the vehicle communication protocol. If two computing devices on the move run the same application, they can be grouped together. The contribution of this research is to develop a clustering mechanism based on the application with very low overhead. We also validate the proposed method through simulations. The simulation results indicate that the proposed method is feasible. © 2023 IEEE.

The field of dermatology faces considerable challenges when it comes to early detection of skin cancer. Our study focused on using different datasets, including original data, augmented data, and SMOTE oversampled data, to identify skin cancer. Our dataset consisted of images of skin lesions from the MNIST Skin Cancer dataset (HAM 10000), including samples of both cancerous and benign cases in the dataset. We employed data augmentation to expand the dataset's size and increase the diversity of skin lesion features. Furthermore, to tackle class imbalance in the dataset, we applied the SMOTE oversampling technique to generate synthetic samples for the under-represented group. With the original, augmented, and SMOTE oversampled datasets, we trained a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model. The performance of the model was evaluated using accuracy, recall, precision, and F1-score. The comparison between the results obtained from the original data, augmented data, and SMOTE oversampling data clearly revealed distinctions in performance. Our findings clearly demonstrate that employing data augmentation and SMOTE oversampling can significantly enhance the efficacy of skin cancer detection. © 2023 IEEE.

Antenna-on-Chip (AoC) is one of the most promising solutions in upcoming 6G era. However, AoC suffers from low gain usually due to the highly conductive silicon substrate in mainstream complementary-metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) processes. Artificial magnetic conductors (AMC) embedded within the stack-up of standard CMOS processes have been widely used to enhance the gain by isolating the AoC from the Si substrate and providing constructive reflection. Nonetheless, the ultra-thin stack-up of standard CMOS processes causes that only the AMC unit cells nearby the AoC can be illuminated well while the outermost part is illuminated poorly, which prevents the AMC from its optimal reflection performance. To mitigate the issue, this paper proposes a novel via-based magnetic coupling enhancement structures (H-CES- V) to improve the AMC illumination by coupling the energy from well-illuminated unit cells to outermost unit cells magnetically. Compared to conventional AMC, the gain can be improved by 1.5 dBi with the proposed structure. Finally, the proposed AMC-backed AoC with H-CES- V shows a boresight gain of 7 dBi (12 dBi better than a standalone AoC without AMC), and a radiation efficiency of 59 % at 94 GHz.

This research article presents a modified isolated SEPIC converter suitable for high-power applications. It uses a transformer instead of coupled inductor for isolation between the input power source and the output load. The steady-state analysis is explained in detail. Thermal loss analysis is performed by using PLECS software. Further, a hardware prototype is developed to verify the performance aspects of the proposed converter. © 2023 IEEE.

Obstacle removal in crowd evacuation is critical to safety and the evacuation system efficiency. Recently, manyresearchers proposed game theoreticmodels to avoid and remove obstacles for crowd evacuation. Game theoreticalmodels aim to study and analyze the strategic behaviors of individuals within a crowd and their interactionsduring the evacuation. Game theoretical models have some limitations in the context of crowd evacuation. Thesemodels consider a group of individuals as homogeneous objects with the same goals, involve complex mathematicalformulation, and cannot model real-world scenarios such as panic, environmental information, crowds that movedynamically, etc. The proposed work presents a game theoretic model integrating an agent-based model to removethe obstacles from exits. The proposed model considered the parameters named: (1) obstacle size, length, andwidth, (2) removal time, (3) evacuation time, (4) crowd density, (5) obstacle identification, and (6) route *** proposed work conducts various experiments considering different conditions, such as obstacle types, obstacleremoval, and several obstacles. Evaluation results show the proposed model’s effectiveness compared with existingliterature in reducing the overall evacuation time, cell selection, and obstacle removal. The study is potentially usefulfor public safety situations such as emergency evacuations during disasters and calamities.

The number of heart transplants is constantly increasing. Each year, it grows by around 60% due to the health problems plaguing the world's population. Furthermore, the lack of available transplanted organs and the waiting list greatly increases and can last for years. All these reasons make it increasingly difficult to get a heart transplant. Solutions such as artificial organs are gaining more and more prominence and are in great demand. Considering the advancement of science and technology, new research shows great hope in prolonging and improving the quality of life for many patients. Among these researches is the Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD), which uses auxiliary pumps along with the natural heart of the person, allowing a longer waiting time in the transplant queue and giving a quality of life. This work aims to implement autonomous electronic control over this device, allowing autonomous speed control over the pump motor. This method gives patients better control and greater freedom to practice their daily lives. Another important reason is the economic factor, which aims to reduce costs and allow greater popular reach. In this work, the tests were carried out on only the Brushless Direct Current Motor (BLDC). The results are demonstrated in numerical and graphic form for better illustration.

The integration of technology into the healthcare system is emerging as a tool to support professionals in the treatment of Heart Failure (HF), and is based on an analysis of the scientific and technological progress of the Internet of Things, applied as an innovative perspective in Health 4.0. This article presents a study that proposes to develop an innovative prototype Left Ventricular Assist Device (artificial heart). The main focus is on advanced sensing, connectivity via mobile network and remote supervision support, aimed at the operation and diagnosis of patients affected by HF. The project incorporates advanced data collection, processing, and analysis tools using Big Data and Data Analytics concepts. The motivation for this work is the search for technological innovation as support for medical science and the contribution to the Unified Health System. The prototype includes a microcontroller, a heartbeat sensor, an accelerometer sensor to collect movement, acceleration and fall detection data, a mobile network module to transmit the data and create an electronic medical record. This article highlights the initial phase, which includes preliminary results such as configuring the module and components, collecting data using heartbeat and movement sensors, storing the data in MongoDB and visualizing it in Jupyter Notebook.

This study investigates significant patterns of violence against women in Pernambuco using Self-Organizing Maps (SOM) and the Apriori algorithm. The methodology includes trend analysis, clustering, and association rule mining, utilizing data from the Ministério da Mulher covering 2015 to 2021. The exploratory data analysis identified demographic, temporal, and spatial trends in violence. SOM was employed for dimensionality reduction and clustering, revealing three clusters representing 5.24%, 19.68%, and 75.08% of the dataset, respectively. The Apriori algorithm was applied to yearly subsets of each cluster to uncover relevant association patterns. Our findings highlight key characteristics and temporal dynamics of violence, supporting the development of targeted interventions and support systems.
