Maternal health is a critical concern, particularly for individuals who are pregnant and will shape the future generations. However, not all expectant mothers receive tailored attention and care for their unique health needs. Consequently, many mothers face high levels of health risks during pregnancy, highlighting the importance of classifying maternal health risks. Classification can help identify influential factors affecting maternal health and predict risk levels for individual mothers. In the field of data mining, various classification methods exist for analyzing complex datasets. This study focuses on two widely used algorithms: decision tree and k-Nearest Neighbor (kNN). By employing these algorithms, we aim to classify a dataset comprising 1,014 records of maternal health risk levels. Through cross-validation and T-tests, we rigorously evaluate the performance of the decision tree and kNN algorithms in this context. Our findings indicate that the kNN algorithm is more suitable for classifying maternal health risks, achieving a significantly higher accuracy of 71.50% compared to the decision tree algorithm's accuracy of 70.71%. This result establishes the superiority of the kNN algorithm in accurately classifying maternal health risks. These findings have implications for developing targeted interventions and tailored healthcare strategies to mitigate identified risks. © 2023 IEEE.

Misinformation or so called 'fake news' has become a pressing issue around the world. This research proposes modeling the spread of misinformation through Q-learning, the game of Nim, and multi-Agent simulations. Through analyzing theoretical properties of the model and studying factors in how misinformation affects it, we show how the model reflects the real-life impact of fake news. The scalability of the framework and its emulation of real-human behavior make it versatile and believable. Through further study of this model, our hope is to shed light on effective tactics for combating fake news in the real world. © 2022 IEEE.

Towards a Healthy AI Tradition: Lessons from Biology and Biomedical Science

AI is a magnificent field that directly and profoundly touches on numerous disciplines ranging from philosophy, computer science, engineering, mathematics, decision and data science and economics, to cognitive science, neuroscience and more. The number of applications and impact of AI is second to none and the potential of AI to broadly impact future science developments is particularly thrilling. While attempts to understand knowledge, reasoning, cognition and learning go back centuries, AI remains a relatively new field. In part due to the fact it has so many wide-ranging overlaps with other disparate fields it appears to have trouble developing a robust identity and culture. Here we suggest that contrasting the fast-moving AI culture to biological and biomedical sciences is both insightful and useful way to inaugurate a healthy tradition needed to envision and manage our ascent to AGI and beyond (independent of the AI Platforms used). After all, the human brain is a biological organ produced by evolution and human intelligence is a remarkable bi-product of nature and nurture and their complex interaction. In this perspective, we focus on traditions and culture, namely the commonly observed practices of evaluating, recognizing applauding, critiquing, debating and managing all progress including useful advances and discovery of challenging limitations. We are not discussing specific scientific exchanges between AI and Biology that include interdisciplinary cross fertilization of scientific methods, technology, ideas and applications that have been amply demonstrated and will continue to be transformative in the future. In a previous perspective, we suggested that biomedical laboratories or centers can usefully embrace logistic traditions in AI labs that will allow them to be highly collaborative, improve the reproducibility of research, reduce risk aversion and produce faster mentorship pathways for PhDs and fellows. Source code comments play a critical role in software development by facilitating issue resolution and reducing maintenance time and cost. However, the impact of code comments, particularly those aiding program comprehension, on expediting issue resolution remains insufficiently explored. This study investigates the impact of code comments on issue resolution time for issues related to pulling requests involving code maintenance. To this end, ten of the most popular Java repositories on GitHub were selected, and closed pull request-related issues were identified using a specific criterion. Comments were then extracted from classes modified by the pull requests, and a trained BERT model was utilized to classify them according to their usefulness. The percentage of comments relative to code size, the percentage of useful comments relative to all comments, and the average issue resolution time were computed and examined for correlations. The results indicate a negative correlation (-0.68) between the percentage of code comments in modified classes and the average issue resolution time. A stronger negative correlation (-0.73) was found between the percentage of useful code comments to all comments in modified classes and the average issue resolution time per class. These findings demonstrate that code with more comments, particularly useful ones, leads to faster issue resolution. This serves as a basis for further research into the impact of various fine-grained comment types on issue resolution time in different programming languages. Also, it can assist developers in writing more effective comments that accelerate bug-fixing and reduce software maintenance efforts. © 2023 IEEE.

To understand and characterize the diffusion trends of opposing viewpoints on Twitter (X), we applied two epidemiological models to six datasets related to COVID-19. We compared the results of the SIR (Susceptible, Infected, Recovered) and the SEIZ (Susceptible, Exposed, Infected, Skeptics) epidemiological models. We collected six datasets indicative of polarizing viewpoints related to contentious subjects surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Three of the datasets fall into an anti-subject hashtag group, and three of the datasets fall into a pro-subject hashtag group. The timeframe of each dataset is from January 1, 2020, to the end of 2021. Our findings demonstrate that while both the SIR and the SEIZ models are able to evaluate the propagation trends of the polarizing viewpoints, the SEIZ model is more accurate with relatively less error compared to the SIR model. This work sets the stage for ultimately leading to the ability to develop methods to prevent the propagation of ideas that lack scientific evidence while promoting the spread of scientifically backed ideas. © 2025 IEEE computer Society. Using MD5 hashing of passwords in web logins is highly vulnerable to dictionary attacks. One online application for cracking hashed passwords using a dictionary attack that is free and easy to use is ***. Even so, the use of hashing passwords using MD5 which has a low level of security is still commonly found to secure web login passwords. This research presents an increase in security through a combination of salt hash passwords when using MD5. The methodology of this study uses a quantitative experimental method to apply hash salt passwords using the MD5 combination. The password cracking test was carried out using the *** online hash cracking application on weak passwords such as 'admin' with the addition of a password hash salt using the MD5 combination. The results showed that Salt Password using the MD5 combination could not be cracked by *** using a dictionary attack. © 2023 IEEE.

Sasirangan cloth is one of the traditional cloths owned by Indonesia and is a typical cloth originating from the province of South Kalimantan. This Sasirangan cloth has many motifs and is unique. Sasirangan cloth is also one of the potentials that can attract local and foreign tourists to visit South Kalimantan. However, in recent years, tourist visits to South Kalimantan have decreased due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Then it also has an impact on the delay in the implementation of the Banjarmasin Sasirangan Festival which is usually held annually. The next impact is a decrease in turnover and interest in shopping for Sasirangan cloth, so that employees who work for Sasirangan cloth craftsmen are dismissed and reduce people's income. So the purpose of this study is to report the results of the development of a Virtual Reality Game application called VR-SasiranganKu by integrating the interaction of Non-Player Character (NPC) behavior with the type of narrative in the simulation genre game. VR-SasiranganKu is recommended to introduce and at the same time promote Sasirangan cloth to users, then justify the reaction to knowledge and shopping experience, and evaluate user experience using the UX Honeycomb method. Respondents involved as many as 100 people who are local and national tourists. The results show that the interaction of NPC behavior can provide good direction to users regarding the introduction of Sasirangan cloth by presenting an appropriate interaction design based on the narrative and the theme of the NPC that has been adopted, the results of justification using VR-SasiranganKu can provide knowledge reaction and very good shopping experience, and based on user experience evaluation that VR-SasiranganKu has adopted a very good UX with an average score of 4.91. © 2022 IEEE.

IT/OT convergence in the form of a Cyber-Physical System (CPS) presents an opportunity to apply recent Information Technology (IT) advancements to Operational Technology (OT). The IT/OT convergence introduces cyber security threats for OT. The OT communication protocols, for example, have limited or no security capabilities for securing data exchange beyond basic authentication. The RNG (Random Number Generator) function is crucial in PLC for producing the encryption keys or the initial seed for security algorithms. The software-based PRNG (Pseudo RNG) is the most common approach for RNG in OT, instead of hardware-based RNG. This study provides a systematic literature review of the most recent evidence in digital transformation to secure data exchange in smart factories, within OT, or across OT and IT settings. It does this by looking at the PRNG on PLC and identifying the most recent trends and best practices. The findings include up-to-date data on author countries' distribution, published journals, research trends, industries, and industry types. The findings also address whether data flow is encrypted or shared in plaintext to ensure secure data transfer between IT and legacy OT environments. This paper concludes that while there is known RNG implementation in the actual embedded system in ICS, there is no evidence in the literature for using RNG in ICS networks for PLC implementation to secure data transfer with encryption.

In the high-performance computing domain, Field programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is a novel accelerator that exhibits high flexibility and performance characteristics distinct from other accelerators such as the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). Recent advanced high-end FPGA is equipped with multiple channels of high speed optical link up to 100Gbps performance for each. This is a crucial feature when we construct PC clusters with FPGAs as accelerators, however it is not easy to utilize from user kernels because this feature is implemented in low level and simple direct communication between neighboring FPGAs. In order to provide the communication feature between FPGAs for accelerated PC clusters, we developed a communication system named CIRCUS which implies a user-friendly API from OpenCL and is equipped with routing function over multi-hop communication on multi-dimensional torus network of FPGAs. However, current CIRCUS only provides a point-to-point communication between source and destination FPGAs. In ordinary parallel processing environment such as MPI, the user program the message passing with various collective communication functions for parallel algorithm, for instance Allreduce, Allgather, etc. In this paper, we implement the collective communication function over CIRCUS for user-friendly programming of ordinary parallel algorithms on FPGAs. As the first target, we implement Allreduce function which is the most essential and important function. The paper describes the CIRCUS system briefly followed by the design, implementation and preliminary performance evaluation on Intel Stratix10 FPGAs. © 2023 ACM.
