Low back pain is a leading cause of disability globally, is often associated with degenerative lumbar spine conditions. Accurate diagnosis of these conditions is critical but challenging due to the subjective nature of MRI interpretation and the weak correlation between imaging findings and symptoms. Thus, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance of CNN-based architectures (VGG-16, EfficientNetB0, EfficientNetV2) and transformer-based architecture specifically Vision Transformers (ViT) in classifying lumbar spine conditions as normal, moderate, or severe. Using the RSNA 2024 Lumbar Spine Degenerative Classification dataset. The models are evaluated using the ROC-AUC and PRAUC as the performance metrics due to the dataset imbalance. Results indicate that EfficientNetB0 achieved the highest overall performance, with an average ROC-AUC of 0.784 and PR-AUC of 0.528, demonstrating strong adaptability to imbalanced datasets. EfficientNetV2 also performed competitively, while VGG-16 showed moderate effectiveness. The Vision Transformer (ViT), however, underperformed due to its reliance on larger datasets and challenges in capturing fine-grained spatial features. The findings highlight the potential of EfficientNet-based models for accurate and efficient lumbar spine diagnostics. This study underscores the potential of advanced deep learning approaches in improving diagnostic workflows for degenerative lumbar spine conditions. © 2025 IEEE.

Advancements in neuromorphic computing have given an impetus to the development of systems with adaptive behavior,dynamic responses,and energy efficiency *** charge-based or emerging memory technologies such as memristors have been developed to emulate synaptic plasticity,replicating the key functionality of neurons—integrating diverse presynaptic inputs to fire electrical impulses—has remained *** this study,we developed reconfigurable metal-oxide-semiconductor capacitors(MOSCaps)based on hafnium diselenide(HfSe2).The proposed devices exhibit(1)optoelectronic synaptic features and perform separate stimulus-associated learning,indicating considerable adaptive neuron emulation,(2)dual light-enabled charge-trapping and memcapacitive behavior within the same MOSCap device,whose threshold voltage and capacitance vary based on the light intensity across the visible spectrum,(3)memcapacitor volatility tuning based on the biasing conditions,enabling the transition from volatile light sensing to non-volatile optical data *** reconfigurability and multifunctionality of MOSCap were used to integrate the device into a leaky integrate-and-fire neuron model within a spiking neural network to dynamically adjust firing patterns based on light stimuli and detect exoplanets through variations in light intensity.

Time series data is data that is collected periodically and has certain time intervals. Time series data is widely available in the fields of finance, meteorology, signal processing, health, and economics. Weather data, stock prices, and sales data are examples of time series data. Time series data analysis can be used to predict future conditions based on patterns and values from previous data through a forecasting process. These forecasting results are useful for identifying trends and data patterns for decision making. The rapid development of deep learning models can now be used as a method for forecasting time series data. Deep learning models that are suitable for forecasting include sequence-to-sequence models such as Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Transformer. LSTM and Transformer are sequence-to-sequence models that are widely used for forecasting time series data. Research to compare the accuracy of the two models is still very limited. This article will discuss the use of the LSTM and Transformer models for the time series data forecasting process using Hewlett Packard stock price data from 1962 to 2022. The accuracy results show that the LSTM model outperforms the Transformer model in forecasting Hewlett Packard stock prices. © 2024 IEEE.

To get accurate data prediction results, it requires not only the right machine learning model, but also hyperparameters. Hyperparameters play an important role in shaping and optimizing the performance of machine learning models. Determining the right combination of model and hyperparameters is often a challenge. This research will use a hyperparameter search method, namely grid search. The aim of this research is to find out optimization best results from hyperparameters for several machine learning models using the Grid Search method and see the performance impact of using the grid search method for heart disease classification. Heart disease is a disease that has the potential to be fatal for humans if not treated quickly. Early detection can be done by utilizing machine learning models that are able to analyze data patterns from studied data sets. By training machine learning to study data sets related to heart disease, it is hoped that it will be able to carry out early detection of heart disease. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent times, there has been considerable attention directed towards Facial Expression Recognition (FER) due to its extensive utility across diverse domains. However, the universality of facial expressions has been challenged by studies suggesting that cultural backgrounds significantly influence the perception and recognition of emotions. This paper addresses the need for culturally specific datasets in FER tasks, particularly in underrepresented regions like Indonesia. The study introduces dynamic images as an alternative input representation for facial expression recognition tasks, aiming to assess their efficacy using the Indonesian Mixed Emotions Dataset (IMED). Through experimentation using EfficientNet model, the performance of dynamic images is compared with static image and video inputs. Results indicate that dynamic images exhibit promising performance, with an accuracy of 94.28%. These results outperform static image datasets and nearly match the performance of video-based models, which achieved an accuracy of 97.93 %, despite using fewer data. Nonetheless, challenges such as data imbalance and the quality of generated dynamic images persist, suggesting avenues for further research and model refinement. This study provides valuable insights into methodological advancements in FER, particularly in limited dataset conditions, laying the groundwork for future developments in dynamic image-based facial expression recognition algorithms. © 2024 IEEE.

In the realm of artificial intelligence (AI), a notable challenge has surfaced: adversarial attacks, these attacks involve altering input data to mislead AI models. Developing defensive measures against adversarial attacks is necessary for a more reliable AI system to protect its users from potential harm. In response to the risk of adversarial attacks, this study aims to mitigate the risk of such attacks, especially in image classification tasks, by proposing Adversarial Detection Guided Input Transformation (ADGIT) as an architecture designed to handle such attacks. In this study, the author will experiment with creating such architecture and measure the quality of the proposed technique. ADGIT works by utilizing SafetyNet as an adversarial detector to detect and cleanse adversarial attacks. The author concludes that the proposed technique could improve robustness against adversarial attacks increasing consistent prediction accuracy from 43% to 60% and reconstructing adversarial input images to be more similar to their unperturbed version, with reconstructed images' PSNR score on 0.007 perturbation increased from 43.1182 to 89.0999. The technique proposed could be used as a new defensive measure and improving robustness against adversarial attacks. Although ADGIT is capable of handling adversarial samples, ADGIT has a drawback in performance speed due to the extra preprocessing step. © 2024 IEEE.

In the rapidly evolving beauty industry, consumers are often bombarded with an overwhelming array of skincare brands and products, making the quest for the perfect skincare regimen a daunting task. This saturation of the market not only confuses consumers but also poses the risk of resource wastage and potential skin damage due to incompatible ingredient combinations. To mitigate these challenges, our research presents an innovative recommendation system designed to streamline the product selection process. Utilizing the principle of cosine similarity, our methodology involves a detailed analysis of the ingredients contained in various skincare products. A quantitative foundation for evaluating ingredient lists of various skincare products is provided by cosine similarity, a mathematical metric that evaluates the similarity between two non-zero vectors by computing the cosine of the angle between them. Our algorithm generates customized product recommendations by thoroughly comprehending the intricate interactions among different constituents. This bespoke approach simplifies the decision-making process for consumers, enabling them to make well-informed choices that cater to their unique skin health needs. The effectiveness of our recommendation system is validated through comprehensive user feedback, demonstrating its potential to redefine the paradigm of personalized skincare recommendations within the beauty industry. Through providing customers with critical information and encouraging a culture of knowledgeable choice, we see a time when customized skincare products will not only increase customer satisfaction but also brand loyalty, which will be a big step toward the democratization of customized skincare. © 2024 IEEE.

Poverty is considered a serious global issue that must be immediately eradicated by Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, namely ending poverty anywhere and in any form. As a developing country, poverty is a complex issue faced by Indonesia. Tackling poverty in Indonesia has become a key focus of the government’s strategic priorities. This issue of poverty is experienced by all provinces in Indonesia, including Central Java. The poverty rate in Central Java stands at 10.77% or 3.79 million people. The causes of poverty are explained by several factors. Using these various factors, a mapping model can be conducted to determine the number of poor populations in Central Java. This research employs Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) and Mixed Geographically Weighted Regression (MGWR) approaches to compare the effectiveness of these models in analyzing the number of poor populations in Central Java in 2023. The kernel function weighting used in this study is Fixed Gaussian. The results showed that the MGWR model outperformed both the OLS regression and GWR models, achieving an Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) of 62.766, an R2 of 82.3%, and a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.177. Consequently, it can be inferred that the MGWR model was more suitable for explaining the poverty levels in Central Java. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). All Rights Reserved.

The expansion of deep learning techniques, as well as the availability of large audio/sound datasets, have fueled tremendous breakthroughs in audio/sound classification during the last several years. The transfer learning approach has emerged as one of the primary approaches for improving the accuracy and durability of classification systems. This study conducts a comprehensive comparative analysis to determine the effectiveness and performance of this method in environment sound classification. This current investigation focuses on environmental sound classification using VGGish and YAMNet pre-trained models with the ESC-50 and BDLib2 datasets. In the ESC-50 dataset, VGGish improves accuracy to 372.22%, while YAMNet improves accuracy to 383.33% when compared to baseline models. Similarly, in the BDLib2 dataset, accuracy increases significantly to 221.43% with VGGish and 246.43% with YAMNet. Transfer learning exhibits remarkable effectiveness in enhancing model performance, with significant accuracy boosts observed in both datasets. YAMNet, designed specifically for sound classification tasks, surpasses VGGish in improving environmental sound classification performance, potentially due to its architecture's adaptability and diverse training on environmental sounds. © 2024 IEEE.

With the development of narcotics problems that continue to increase, the Indonesian Government responds through the Badan Narkotika Nasional (BNN) with data showing the condition of narcotics tends to grow every year and is followed by the number of assets of money laundering (ML) crimes against narcotics cases. One of the banks in Indonesia as a reporting party for suspicious financial transactions (SFT) has obstacles in detecting narcotics ML due to complex and rarely found patterns. Some previous studies conducted experiments using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), and even a combination of both into Convolutional Extreme Gradient Boosting (ConvXGB), and improved model performance in several datasets. This paper designs a model using the ConvXGB algorithm by adopting the CNN architecture, LeNet-5, by applying several convolution layers and pooling layers as a baseline model for feature learning, and the XGBoost as feature classification. Three phases of research are the preprocessing phase by collecting data, transforming data, balancing data with a hybrid sampling technique, splitting data, and scaling data, followed by the implementation phase by creating a ConvXGB model, training and testing the model, then finally the evaluation phase by analyzing results and hyperparameter tuning. The dataset used is SFT from the bank during 2023. This ConvXGB has three convolution layers, a pooling layer, and a flattened layer. The performance test results are the accuracy value and F1-Score value of 99.11% each after hyperparameter tuning. By performing a hybrid model, the model performance results are better. © 2024 IEEE.
